    Good video. I have almost all of those items. I do enjoy your Dollar Store tours. These types of videos is one of the reasons they do so well and are expanding, so they should have no problem with videos in the stores. It's free advertising.

      Ellen, Thanks so much for your kind words. I've talked to the people in my DT before about DT videos, and they look at me like I am crazy. They have no idea why anyone would be interested in their stores. I would have asked, but they were really busy, then once we got started, I was worried that they wouldn't be happy that we had filmed without permission...I'll definitely ask before our next visit to the new store..Sandy

    the shoe protectors are also great to use for storing your stencils in. On my lights Houston Souls with my texturizing paste that I also make out of cornstarch based baby powder! You really know the tricks Miss Lady thank you so much! And it's very classy that you give a big knowledgement to other Crafters on RUclips. I really like to see women supporting other women and you are all stars!

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  6 лет назад

      I thought of trying it, but hadn't, so thanks for the great tip. I've been seeing people using self healing mats you use for sewing, as replacements for their plastic cutting plates in their Big Shots, and am definitely going to look into trying that. Have you tried that?

  • @laurabarber6697
    @laurabarber6697 6 лет назад +1

    you were just such a sweetheart! Around the 4-minute time the tip of the spray bottle is adjustable so you can have a fine stream or a nice mist and the pump bottles are actually in the nail polish section they're used typically for nail polish remover.

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  6 лет назад

      My DT doesn't have the pump bottles (and I tried the nail polish section..) I think I said my DT isn't the best. I'm really hoping the new one is bigger and has better selection. The spray bottle was close to the front of the store, and I was kind of panicking that we would be thrown out for the video, so was trying to talk as fast as possible about the spray bottle and forgot to mention the adjustable tip. darn... I have another one from there that's made like Tim Holtz's spray bottle, but of course, they didn't have them at my store to show you. Again, hoping to find it at the new store. Thanks for your tips and help with the things I forgot to mention. I really appreciate it as so many viewers read the comments... Sandy

      You're right...crafting of any kind can be super expensive, and I tried to show products that are universal, so people outside the US can find them in their inexpensive stores. Linda, So glad you liked it...You shouldn't ever have to write down anything from my videos, as I write all of the information below the video, including links to videos I've made with every product and what I use them for. I wanted to make my channel accessible to as many people as I could, and the closed captioning on YT isn't very good, so if hearing impaired individuals want to watch my videos, they have the notes below them to follow....So you can print it out and take it with you. Hope that helps....Sandy

We've been doing a yard cleanup of 5 years of neglect pulling out miles of gorgeous but pesky ivy that escaped from pots, cleaning up the "sugarpops" from our 20 fir trees, and garloning blackberries & trees that sprouted from seeds from everyone else's trees. I'm truly NOT a good neighbor and shouldn't have wished myself on you.

    Subscribed! I too have RA, so you're in my heart. I am a crafter too, mostly knitting and crochet, but I am really getting into the junk journal making and loaded-cards. I was diagnosed in 2005 with RA, but my case was mild, and fortunately it never messed with my hands. However, once the RA moved to my lungs and eyes, it went into remission in my joints. Its eating away at my lungs, but I don't even have morning RA stiffness anymore. Be well!!

      I'm so sorry I never responded to this comment, as YT just posted it to my site today. I don't know how these things happen, but unfortunately, they do. I'm sorry to hear that your RA has gone into your lungs and eyes, and hope that with the time that's passed, things have much improved. I hate hearing that others are being diagnosed with this disease, but luckily, the joint and overall body damage to new RA patients is usually not as bad as when I was diagnosed in 1982. I sincerely hope that you are doing well and that you continue to make the crafting things you discussed in your note. I'd love to see a photo of some of your crafty creations...saundralparker@yahoo.com Sandy

    Sandy, thank you so very much for sharing your "hacks" with fellow crafters! Crafters who live in the U.S.A. don't realize how very lucky you are. The last time we were at our home in Southern Ca., I'd spent a little time before we left the U.K. watching a few crafting vlogs. However, it seemed that no matter which "Tuesday Morning" or "Dollar Tree" my poor family patiently followed me to, seemed to be sold out of all the excellent goody hauls I'd seen & am used to getting when we're back home in the U.S. :(. We do have "Pound Stores" (like "Dollar Tree") here but they have next to no crafting supplies (even hackable items). Crafting seems to still be in it's l o n g infancy in the U.K. & card making is, by far preferred over scrap booking. I'm a big Anna Griffin fan & there must be some kind of secret code that crafters need to have studied to know especially when Anna's "end stocks" come in, LOL. Some of the hauls you ladies & gents find make me jealous!.....Ah well, maybe next time. Thanks again Sandy, new sub.

      I tried to stick to as many items as possible that you can find pretty much anywhere. We were in Italy many years ago, and found a "Euro Store" and had to go inside. It was very much like our Dollar Tree...I agree about the Tuesday Morning hauls...I've been in a few Tuesday Mornings and have never found the things that these ladies find...Honestly though, I do think that they shop there at least three times a week and maybe every day, to find the things they find. I'm not that kind of shopper and want to find the same things every time I go, like at my Dollar Tree. There were maybe three things on my list that they no longer carried at my Dollar Tree, so I'm hoping my new store will have them.
      I've made friends all over the world, and often they will tell me they have no stores that carry card making supplies, and that makes me really sad. If you haven't found Aliexpress, they sell everything and anything you'd ever want for card making there and shipping worldwide is free. I've bought a lot of things there and especially love their micro brushes tinyurl.com/yafrnx4s and tinyurl.com/y7ffxsjn to fill ink spots I've missed, and especially, for putting glue on the backs of thin die cuts. I'm sad that you don't have access to the craft stores we have in the US, but hope you'll be able to find a lot of the things I mention at your local "Pound Store." I've often wondered if you have thrift shops or garage sales in the UK? I find a lot of things that I re-purpose for craft things at those as well. Email me any time at saundralparker@yahoo.com if you can't find a particular product, as I love hunting for things for others...Sandy

    Loved this video, I'm a big fan of Lindsay the frugal crafter also. I love your enthusiasm and WOW you packed this video FULL of great ideas. Love those of US over 40 & the readers, but most of all your earth friendly and recycle Ideas. I am a BIG BIG BIG fan of yours now and will be getting baby bibs- true aha moment, they are just like microfiber cloths,LOL (even though my kids are grown) so Big thanks for all these great Ideas!! Thanks for such a lovely comment. I can't tell you how many of those tips originated with Lindsay to some degree...Either she said it, or I thought it as she mentioned something else, but she always makes me think. Those readers are the difference between me reading the name of a stamp set correctly on video, or me saying the name wrong and then announcing that I'm not wearing my glasses and need to get them... I love the baby bibs and especially ones with velcro, as they are so much easier to pull off the arm then the snapped ones. I buy mine at second hand stores or garage sales, as often I can get up to ten for a dollar, and I don't care if they are already stained, because I'll just stain them more. haha....
      I try not to use expensive products in my videos, as I try to keep in mind that many of my viewers are on fixed or limited incomes with physical limitations, so you should be able to find videos on just about every tool and technique I can find....So glad you found my channel.. Sandy

    Great ideas! I use a lot of the same DT items the same way. Never thought about the hand sanitizer. I found the base for the Lego style toys in the kids area to use for mixed media. One side is raised dots and the other is debossed dots.

    • @junbug1029
      @junbug1029 6 лет назад

      It's a hard plastic square, 5x5 inches, in the kids toy section and it says TOP BLOX BASE PLATE. It has raised dots to attach the Lego pieces and I thought it would be good to apply paint and "stamp" it onto a mixed media piece. You could use it with clay for texture. I hope you find one!

      Lynn, Thanks so much for such a great note. I started my channel because I couldn't find anyone on YT who could tell me what tools would work for me, and I thought about all of the people with similar issues who don't have a voice on YT, and although I don't think I'm a great artist, I have loved every minute of this experience and I've met so many truly wonderful people like yourself. Lindsay has taught me so much, and I owe almost everything I know about crafts and DIY, to her.
      Sadly, my craft room is never that clean, and only made it through a couple of days after that video in it's clean state. I just don't seem to ever have enough storage for all of the crafty things I own.
      I lost Aggie, my largest golden, in December, and I still cry for her, as she followed me everywhere I went, and never left my doorway when I made videos. She was our first golden, then we got Bella, because Aggie was so firmly attached to our yellow lab, Noel, the dog in my YT photo..The vet told us with their relationship, he thought Aggie would die shortly after Noel, so we got Bella so that Aggie had a reason to live. Aggie made it through with the help of Bella, and as Aggie got older, we got our English/golden retriever, Honey for Bella. Aggie and Noel both lived to be 15 1/2 years old, and since Aggie was a big golden (85 lbs for a girl, big girl), we didn't think she would live as long. I know you have experienced the pain of losing these wonderful friends, and hope you still have one in your life.
      My Rich is the greatest, and we've been married 36 years and he never let my arthritis break us, even though I got diagnosed 2 weeks after we got married. We were so young and had no idea what this disease could do, and that was really truly lucky. Our ignorance was a blessing because if we had seen what the first ten years would be like, I don't think either one of us could have handled it. Four joint replacements, and a c1-c2 fusion of my neck that included a halo before age 32.
      I still maintain that there are so many worse things I could have than RA, and I truly believe that. I try to ignore the disease so others will too. I managed banks for my career, and when I finally took disability (after 25 years), customers couldn't understand why. I was really proud that they couldn't "see" my arthritis, even though it was right in front of them.
      I wanted to respond to your kind note and thank you from the bottom of my heart for such a lovely, kind note. You've clearly watched lots of my videos, and for that, I thank you. If you ever want to email me, feel free to do so... it's saundralparker@yahoo.com

But my head is just not there. I am starting to think I will be sending out store bought Christmas cards this year. But if I never make another card I will continue to watch your videos. I'll try to come up with some simple, quick Christmas cards that you can put out a lot in a short amount of time. Thanks for the nice note about Rich..it was his idea for that part of the video...he's going to make a card on video, as a viewer asked him to, and he knows all of the terminology since he edits every video. He might know more than I do...I hope I gave you some tips to give you ideas of things you can do while you recover, and I'll think about some cute and easy cards for you to get back into the swing of things when you feel like it...

      I can understand getting burned out..I listen to our crafters on YT, and sometimes you can hear it in their voices that they are burned out too. Maybe when I've been doing this for years and years, I'll get burned out as well...I hope not, but we all go through phases, don't we?

    I kept my daughter's baby face cloths after she grew out of them for cleaning my stamps. She is 23 yrs old now. The face cloths are stained but well used!

      @craftingforalmosteveryone  6 лет назад

      Good for you! I love using the bibs, as they attach to the arm of my chair, and I just pull one off whenever I need one, and throw them in the laundry when my chair arms are bare. Mine are really stained too, but that's the point isn't it? And I get so much fuzz from baby wipes...didn't realize how many I was using until I stopped....I like the idea of finding a small way to reduce garbage..

    • @patcontant9284
      @patcontant9284 6 лет назад +1

      I have 2 TV trays that I craft on and I have face cloths on each of the bends. Same for reusing and not throwing out. I try hard to recycle. I also use empty cereal, cookie, etc boxes for my paper cuttings and put the plastic coverings into a plastic bag it’s so much easier to plunk the boxes into the recycling bins when they are full.

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  6 лет назад +1

      That's really smart thinking...I try to recycle as much as possible and never use water bottles if I can avoid it. I'm lucky that our recycling takes all plastics, so we recycle a lot...It bothers me when we can fill a 40 gallon recycling container in two weeks with just two people and i think about places where there isn't any recycling and all of that goes into the garbage...it's sad.

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  6 лет назад +1

      It's not very big, but it's clean and unlike some, doesn't have bins all over that you can't find anything in. We visited family near Washington DC and I couldn't believe how dirty, and how unbelievably hard it was to find things there. I feel bad for those of you that have those kinds of DT. I was shocked that instead of unloading anything in the stores near DC, they just pulled big boxes out and left them in the aisles, so customers could pull the merchandise right out of the box...that's pretty bad.

      I've been to some bad DT stores so I know what you mean. Ours are smaller, but have a decent selection, but nothing like the bigger stores that are in larger cities. And then you have the stores that nothing is on the shelf, and they have boxes sitting everywhere, and are in total disarray, and those (I think) are a problem with the manager and staff...My nephew lives in Raleigh and my brother-in-law lives in Morehead City, so I've been to some stores in NC, but they were small like mine, bummer..Thanks for the nice comment, Catherine.....Sandy
