Develop Leg Speed With This Fun Buddy Workout

  • This is a fun workout you can do on a track, road or bike path. You'll want to walk as quickly as you can, taking turns with your two walking buddies.
    Start with a 15-minute warm up, followed by some stretching, hydration and a few walking drills to loosen up. Next, set a cone or other visible marker 50-100m apart to define the length of your sprint zone. Walkers #1 and #3 will start on one end of the zone. Walker #2 waits on the opposite end the zone.
    Walker #1 starts out by sprinting to the opposite end of the zone, giving a hand slap to Walker #2. (Walker #1 stays at that end.) Next, Walker #2 sprints to the opposite end of the sprint zone, slapping the hand of Walker #3. (Walker #2 stays at this end.) Finally, Walker #3 sprints to the opposite end of the zone to slap the hand of Walker #1 and the cycle repeats. Do as many rotations as you'd like. You can also do this as a fun way to warm up before track practice. If you have a large group, split up in groups of 3 and challenge each other.
