There are always a lot of comments about the very impressive array of tools and equipment you have at your disposal. What I like most about your process is the way most of your projects center around a couple sawhorses and a sheet of plywood for a temporary workbench.... I always learn something new watching these videos. When I see Lignum in my notifications it's like an early Chrismas present.
Always a real pleasure to see the processes and machinery that go into making such great looking pieces. Hope we can see the finished project :D Cheers!
Gosh, I haven't been here for such s long time. What a delightfully relaxed and almost hypnotic video to re- live the wonderful world of Lignum!! Great! Love the music choice too!
The project is a bent lamination siding that consists of 52 horizontal larch segments. Finished siding will be assembled around the part of the house that surrounds a round staircase.
I would love to see a video on your background and your business. Did you start it, did you grow up in it, what was your training? I thoroughly enjoy all your videos, from one off pieces to a full stadium roof!
I have to say I love this channel for it's inspirational projects, thanks, keep them coming. You say in the description you've been working on this for a month or two. Q How many projects do you and your company have running at any one time?
At this moment we have 2 carports, this siding and a gazebo that we do simultaneously, we try to do one small project per week. But we often have projects that take all of our work and last for a couple of months or more.. Thank you Gordon for watching! :D
Looking forward to seeing what you do with these pieces. I love this process. Maybe a silly question but, couldn't this same effect be achieved through steam bending a solid beam or is the curve simply to sharp? Speaking purely as an amateur woodworker, never done anything like that.
How long do you keep the moulds after you are done with a project? Do you hold onto them in anticipation of a repeat/similar order or assume that all orders are 1-off and scrap the moulds?
This one I'l probably scrap after I finish installing the siding. I's a really specific diameter with ends slightly curved inward and I doubt I will ever need that curve again.. Some I keep and don't ever scrap.. They wait for other similar projects. I also have a few made from steel because I use them all the time..
@@lignumchannel was it very difficult to get started using the arm? Or do you realistically need experience with such things first? It looks a lot better for the sort of thing I'd like to do than a normal flat bed CNC router. Edit: I should note I already have a fair amount of experience with standard CNC routers and the software involved.
Dear Sir, May I inquire what the Dickens you have in mind with these humongous circles? Another really heavy duty piece of furniture, not just thief proof but possibly bomb proof too by the looks of it. Whatever it's going to be I am sure it will not disappoint. Keep up the great work. Kind regards.
The pieces will be assembled one above the other with 10 mm gap as a siding on a part of a house around the staircase. Not a piece of furniture this time although I got an idea for a furniture piece where I can use the same mould.. Thank you for watching, kind regards. :)
I've been watching your channel for quite some time. I have a few questions that I HAVE to know! What is the maximum tolerance you can get out of your kuka robots? I'd imagine like 0.1mm? What RPM and HP is your spindle rated at? What kind of cutting bit are you using on your kuka spindle? A spiral downcut bit? I'm amazed that you can make such deep cuts. I envision the cutting head getting a ton of chatter/vibration when the cutting head is in so deep, especially when mounted on a robotic arm.
robot precision is rated at +-0.2mm. It depends mostly on toolpath speed.. The spindle is 4KW with maximum frequency of 400 hertz or 24000rpm. I use all kinds of cutting bits, for deep cuts I use one with two replaceable cutting blades and smooth body to avoid snaging the piece. My favorite milling bit is 4 flute flat end roughing carbide for steel with serrated edges. It goes trough any wood like knife trough butter.
There are no dumb questions, only dumb answers :) It's an old wintersteiger vertical frame saw. I'm not sure about the model because the machine plate markings wore of long time ago..
Надеюсь в ближайшее время будет продолжение, жду с нетерпением. Уверен оно того стоит. Как всегда будет 👍🔥🔥🔥 Клей какой то двухкомпонентный для древесины. Если не секрет, как называется

:D Thank you very much Michael! That's the way I always worked, I don't know any other way..:)
You are truly the masters at manipulating wood to whatever you want it to do or become.
Thank you! :D
I love how you don't just do little projects. You show how these small applications can apply to large scale projects
I'm trying to mix it up a bit.. I must admit, I like smaller projects better.. :)

I am so glad that someone with the design and creative skills that you do also has the tools needed to bring them to life. Love these videos.

Master piece in process.
Could you, for the next time, show how many hours did it take to finish the job you showed in the video??
I´m curious
For this one we spent up till now, somewhere around 150 work hours. I would say we are half way there to the completion of the project.

what kind of band saw is that, where it'll saw multiple pieces at once?
It's a vertical frame saw..

What software do you use to program the arm to operate as a CNC router? That is pretty badass.
I use IRBCAM.
