Totally enjoyed this video
I think this is the 5th time I play this video. Amsterdam has always been an special city for me. Tack igen jaunty17
Such a Beautiful approach. Thank you very much for sharing this
"Give it some more power, i don't want to die.." Haha 9:20
Thank you so much for sharing this. I do learn a lot from all your videos. Highly appreciated.
Enjoyed it very much, Thanks for uploading 10 out of 10
You fly a beautiful plane to such beautiful places. I would love to do that. Thanks for sharing your videos.
Love this video! Just awesome.
Great Video...thanks
Härligt att se :)
Smooth landing. Like you drove it on to the runway. Where did the flight originate? Where is the plane based?
Brilliant video. Are you American based in Europe ? I'm trying to figure out the conversion process from US to NL/Europe qualifications.
Oke Nice to know , Next time handling by VCR at Lima ! Much cheaper ( Vcr vliegclubrotterdam for GA )
this control tower guy is also on ivao online
jos r I really like the controllers in the Amsterdam airspace. A very, very busy airspace, and they are always super professional and never miss a beat with us smaller planes.
Really?!
HeadGameLP Yes Really! I'm almost always flying IFR in their airspace; maybe that makes a difference.
Nice video. But according to the Schiphol AIP, you have to contact schiphol ground immediately aftre vacating the landing runway. This has to be an automatic frequency change.
That's true, but the AIP leaves the question of clearance to exit unanswered. Normally, one of two situations will exist: 1) you get a specific clearance from the TWR to exit on a particular taxiway, or 2) the AIP states which taxiways to exit for each RWY (like at Vienna Schwechat). Neither of those conditions exist at Schiphol. The AIP does state, in 2.7.2.3, that "Pilots should vacate the runway via the first practicable rapid exit taxiway corresponding to operational requirements, or as instructed by ATC." But, the exits off of R22 are not "rapid exits", which the AIP defines as having an entry angle of 30 degrees. So, I'm all set to switch to ground, but I am waiting for a clearance to exit onto G4, which I only get when I prompt the TWR. Now I've been to EHAM four times, so in practice, I no longer wait for clearance to exit. I just exit at G4 and switch to ground, but if you are going by the AIP, that behavior is actually undefined.
Great video. First time I see a video with landing on 22, the shorter runway, only used by the smaller planes. I just wonder how they vectored you from over the Northsea, west of EHAM towards rh downwind and rh base for ils 22. Therefore you had to cross the other traffic landing on rwy 18R. Did they guide you straight over the field? I guess not, otherwise you would have shown us that view in the video.
I crossed over the final to 18R at FL 070, heading due east, at a distance of maybe 6 NM north of the threshold. At that point, all the planes they were vectoring to the approach would be on final at about 2000'. I would also be well north of the missed approach path for 18R.
Ok, that is how it went. Thanks
Just love this landing video in AMS. Are you base in Sweden?
Yes. Hässlö.
I was wondering what the "Q and H" was? Is that density altitude or your pressure setting?
+Matt Robinson "QNH" denotes the pressure setting on your altimeter that will make it read the actual altitude you are at (above mean sea level). That setting differs from place to place (since the current air pressure varies from place to place), so each airport reports its current QNH during arrival. Google it for more details.
jaunty17 Oh ok, in the U.S. they just say, "altimeter...29.95"...(or whatever)...I figured QNH was a European designation.
Btw, what are your thoughts on the new DA62?
+Matt Robinson Yeah, that's because in the US your flight levels, where you use standard pressure (29.92) instead of QNH, don't start until you get up to 18,000 feet, which a lot of GA pilots never do. So you don't notice the distinction.
The 62 was intended primarily for the American market, with its beefed up MTOW, chipped up engines (to 180 hp) and slightly bigger cabin. I don't see it making a dent in Europe. IMHO, the next step up from a 42 has to have two of the rumored 300hp Astro engines, size to match (4-5 passengers in club seating) and, most importantly, a pressurized cabin. That would be a machine worth upgrading to.
jaunty17 Yes that would be a nice airplane. You've heard that Diamond has something like that in the works? Btw, where in Europe do you live? just curious. I'm in Oklahoma here in the States, lots of x-wind practice!
Nice movie, but I request HD quality.
piotrekflo I agree, generally, and I've started to do that. I tested generating this one at HD, however, and due to the low-light situation, the improvement was marginal, perhaps imperceptible.
Great to see my former home town again. And of course the Dutch English accent of ATC :) You landed on 22 right?? Love the airport. Just subscribed and liked. Cheers from EDHE!
Yup, 22. Almost always, but I did land on 18R once amongst all the big iron. That was a LONG taxi back to the GA apron! They don't let you cross 18C; they send you on Y all the way around the threshold. But the sights are worth it.
+jaunty17 its a horrible rwy. Always calculate additional fuel for this one. Especially when its busy and you have to wait!! Love your video's! Keep on posting!
I might as well stay home and let the A/C to go!
Has anyone picked up on the incorrect readback of "maintain fl070", pilot readback "maintain 090", the heading @ approx1min 07?I'm not trying to be critical, only just ready to take my ppl personally but shows how easy it is to miss things.
+Edward Comeau Only one other person commented on that so far. Good catch, Ed.
Thanks, and good video jaunty, I aspire to your DA42 missions one day
nice video , did you ever land on EHRD?
+RvdSeu Yes, landed Rotterdam once. Very convenient, and much cheaper than EHAM. But, of course, further from Amsterdam. And the approach into 22 over Vondel park is kind of spectacular.
Beautiful, i hope to achieve the same by your age. =)
I jus can't fly with the nearest flashing it annoys me way too much
Newbie here: so, you were flying by adjusting the autopilot until the last three miles??
That’s right. The AP is your co-pilot in single-pilot operations.
@@jaunty17 its so pitty that you dont post anymore your Videos … whats the reason? I loved to watch all of yours….👍
Nice movie thanks very much. IF you ever fly to Victoria BC ( CYYJ) let me know. I am PP at the Victoria Flying club would love to show you around. Best Regards .. Dan
Thks Dan. It's a sort of bubbling dream/plan to take the 42 over the pond (Iceland, Greenland, Canada). If I did that, then I'd absolutely leave myself time to fly around NA. So, who knows?
Awesome...
