  • Hello friends,
    The other day, I went to a flea market, a beautiful day, and I was lucky to find this most unusual vintage lens; a Pentacon 29mm f/2.8 on M42 mount. It was extremely dirty, but also very cheap. Got it, cleaned it, and discover that it was also dirty on the interior and had some haze as well. So, I disassembled it a give it its old glory.
    It can be adapted to a modern camera and make some cool pictures.

      @@diyextravaganza Hello, So today I cleaned the glass (all of it) on a Gorlitz 29mm f2.8 - just tested a few snaps and BINGO! Clear, crisp and colourful. I'll need to strip it again as there's a very tight spot on the focus ring midway, but now I know the glass is crystal I'll scour the web for info and pull it apart again looking for clues. And yes, totally zen vibe from start to finish :)
      Thanks again for being an inspiration to me.

    I have this lens and one of the sides in the frame gets out of focus (about 1/5 of the picture), would you say that's something difficult to repair?

    • @diyextravaganza
      @diyextravaganza  Год назад +2

      I'd say you need to realign the lenses. Not very difficult I think. Cheers.

    Thank you for your tutorial, however I'd like to regrease the helicoid too - have you got any experience with that?

    • @diyextravaganza
      @diyextravaganza  3 года назад

      I have done several helicoils but not this particular one. Anyway, the golden rule of working with helicoils is to mark the point where it goes out, take pictures (or make a video), clean well, good quality grease and re-assemble.

    Is that possible to modify easy way this lens to focus to infinity on modern cameras (with adapter)?

    • @diyextravaganza
      @diyextravaganza  3 года назад

      the focusing at infinity is given by the flange distance, you can test that by moving by hand the lens in front of your sensor. Then adding a adapter with the right distance is trivial I'd say

    • @dziarsky
      @dziarsky 3 года назад

      @@diyextravaganza On market are only one kind of adapters with (i think) the same distance to a sensor (anyway, no seller sharing information of adaper size/parameters). In Helios 44/2 i found tutorial how to modify lens itself to reach infinity - it works. I hope Pentacon have the same posibility.

      @diyextravaganza  3 года назад +1

      @@dziarsky If it is on a nikon dslr, you'll never reach infinity, you can reach some 10m by offseting the rear lens using for example a o-ring
