  • Another video of us baling hay with the MF 135 and the MF 20 square baler. This was a small square field which we got to make hay of from a neighbour.

I have had two of these work well at plunger speed 60 to 70 strokes a minute and keep plunger knife sharp thanks for posting .Used to make 2000 hay bales a year single handed .Dinna miss building them into 21s for the grab though..

MF 135 gotta be one of the best squarebaler-tractors ever made. I looked at another video here where an old baler was used together with something like a 150 hp modern 4wd tractor. With the windrows equally spaced as yours. Must be like a dinosaur.
I have a Welger AP41 together with a MF175. A little bit bigger but still very agile.

It's very hard to appreciate exactly why this form of bailing isn't considered efficient enough. Human kind just ALWAYS keeps wanting more and more and more and more.

the farm I grew up on ran 2 of those lotus tedders as well as 4 zweeger haybobs.. I wrote one of the lotuses off in 1995 after getting a bit close to a silage bale which subsequently got pulled in between the tractor and machine just before the big bang when on of the rotors shot off across the field... best day of my life as I finally got the boss man talked into getting something that didn't create massive lumps everywhere.. ha ha ha

b59 I spotted a Jones Mk16 (built by Bamford) Took the needles home got the baler up and running finished the season ,returned to dealer and did a deal on the mk16 ,Baled the next season hay then out behind the 16ft combine on the straw.Did'nt miss a beat for years untill we went to Welger round baler which I traded it in for. I am sure Bamford sold ( maybe under licence?) an even smaller pickup baler. The larger 59 was green to start with and the tiddly one was yellow.
