*The 2014 & 2015 rumble matches were the epitome of WWE blatantly telling their fans ”Screw you. You are going to like what we feed you and you will love it so shut up and deal with it.” Even though I’m glad that Roman has finally found his stride as a main eventer with the tribal chief gimmick but let’s be real, 2015 was not the right time to push him because it was far too early for him at that point of his career. Plus, the fact that WWE really thought that The Rock helping Roman was going to get him cheered only for both of them to get booed, that was just downright embarrassing.*

People use these kind of arguments as accurate pfff, shut up. Batista debuted in 2002 and got a Rumble win in 2005, nobody said shit. Lesnar won at 2003, it wasn't even a YEAR since his debut (he debuted in April of 2002, so that to January 2003 it's not a year).
The problem wasn't it was early for Roman, after all people did cheered for him in Rumble 2014, the problem was that people STILL wanted Daniel Bryan to win, THAT was the thing. So fuck off.

Don't forget about the 2016 Royal Rumble match and that too was a third time the fans got slapped in the face by Vince and WWE at the time.

The fact that Daniel Bryan was eliminated RR 2015 and Goldust's theme music hits with "shattered dreams" was downright petty and dirty.
I think having Bryan going out so early was very poor sighted but I wonder if it was cause he just came back from injury.
Rebooking it the final four should have been Bryan, Roman, Wyatt and Rusev. Brock v Bryan might have been good but also quite dangerous for his health at the time. I do think if they didn't want Bryan support they shouldn't have put in the rumble

2014 & 2015 Royal Rumbles were pretty much the "They don't want Daniel Bryan to win" matches.
Pretty much yeah. Even though wrestling fans have their bad habits, but even I couldn’t deny that WWE was just during that time was just extremely out of touch with their audience, considering the overwhelming popularity of Daniel Bryan.
Well here's the thing if you had Bryan in the rumble all you need to do is to have him get screwed by Kane and you have even more support for Bryan and gives him even more fire. The best part is everything else doesn't even need to change

As much as people don't like it in hindsight Roman was the better choice. I think the problem was Bryan going out so early. He should have been in the final four eliminate Wyatt or Rusev but get eliminated by the other therefore the heat is a little less on Roman

During that 2014 - 2015 era of WWE, especially the Royal Rumble winners (Batista & Roman Reigns) and the company stopped giving a damn about the fans.
It's 2K24 (the current year) and I'm glad that the company will never go down that road of "not giving a damn about our WWE fans anymore"
I was lucky enough to be in New Orleans for Wrestlemania 30. Ill never forget walking around Bourbon street the day of mania, and there were crowds of people everyone chanting YES YES YES. and then seeing daniel bryan win the belts that night 🥲 what a moment

This was such a huge dreadful 2 years of wwe, all this because Vince McMahon just hated the fact that he doesn’t want to be proved wrong by thinking that he knows what the audience want rather than letting him know to who they actually want to be push over organically to win the Royal Rumble and main event Wrestlemania it’s legit not that hard.

Perhaps if WWE had not been such a horrifically booked shit product back then fans would never have felt the need to hijack shows as much as they did. There is a reason fans let their voice be heard and I hope fans keep it just as loud today. Its because they can tell when a company spits in their face and tells them what they are supposed to like. These shows are supposed to be for the fans and entertain the fans. If they don't then the fans have the right to let the company know when they don't like the product they are shown and when there needs to be changes.

You would think after the '14 Royal Rumble when Mick Foley a dude who bled literally buckets for this company and fell from the top of the cage twice gave FAIR criticism about the Rumble match that they would have been like ok we won't make that mistake again and avoid a mutiny in the locker room next time

2014 and 2015 were the years of hit and misses for Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns. Looking back at it, still had me disappointed to what could’ve been.

Small correction: When Mysterio’s music hit in 2014, they actually didn’t boo him right away, if you listen back you’ll notice it was dead silence, they were so shocked it wasn’t Bryan that they were speechless, Rey comes out, the realisation kicks in and that shock turned into anger, as soon as his music stopped the boos started pouring in, those first few seconds of silence was deafening.
They also poured salt on the wounds since CM Punk was one of the potential saving graces at the end of the 2014 match, then gets eliminated by an old timer who wasn’t even in the match at the time, then Roman was the very last glimpse of hope and gets eliminated by another old timer.
In 2015 they doubled down on the salt, there was even more potential saving graces like Ambrose, Ziggler, Wyatt and even Rusev, with most of them staying til the end only to get eliminated Big Show and Kane, they slowly eliminated each one by one, and it was like visual torture, Bryan getting eliminated was the dagger, the rest was twisting of the blade.

It maybe a hot take but I was upset that Bryan ruined Batista's moment at Manina main event IS SUPPOSED to be 1v1 not a triple threat.
The 2015 royal rumble was not good for me at all
The 2015 Royal Rumble in my opinion was 10 times worse for a few reasons.
1) Everyone knew Roman Reigns was going to win.
2) WWE intentionally pissing off the fans by having Daniel Bryan being eliminated so early in the match.
3) WWE once again intentionally pissing off the fans by non-verbally saying "we don't care who you like" by having Kane and Big Show babying out the rest of the fan favorites in the tail end of the match that being Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt and Dolph Ziggler.
I seem to remember punk leaving after he beat John cena at Money in the bank for the world championship and kissed vince goodbye i dont remember him ever leaving at royal rumble
It’s serendipitous. If Punk stayed and faced HHH, Daniel Bryan doesn’t face HHH and then Bryan doesn’t face Batista. Bryan doesn’t win the championship. Therefore, CM Punk provided Daniel Bryan’s Wrestlemania moment.
It's sad, cause those Rumble Match disasters overshadow two really good matches from those shows.
2015 - Lesnar vs Rollins vs Cena was really good.
2014 - Bray Wyatt vs Daniel Bryan was really, really good. But, most will forget that they even happened, because of how horrendous the Rumble matches were.
The fans were insufferable back then. I didn't have any issue with Bryan, but after he had his big moment it became just annoying. Booing in the 2014 Royal Rumble was understandable, they made Reigns, a future star, lose to give the win to old Batista who had just returned, but booing legends like Rey Mysterio who were way above Bryan was a travesty. The company then added Bryan to Wrestlemania and he won, that should have been it. In 2015 they had way overdone it for a full year, disrespecting countless other wrestlers for not being Bryan, booing Roman Reigns who, unlike Bryan, was an upcoming star. Bryan fans had no respect and no dignity, almost as bad as Cm Punk fans.
I have never watched these 2 royal rumble matches I heard that it was Bad I have seen the ending at least we are past these

As far as Daniel Bryan is concerned, no one will tell me that that was not the original plan. To make fan fall for him and put hurdles in his way. If u notice the live crowds reaction started to become more split on roman leading to the rumble. And the internets perception on roman was already ruined Due to the trash promos and mid in ring skills at the time. So add in bryan coming back and being a smart town like Philly it was over

If there is ONE thing that i loved from 2015 Royal Rumble was the brief confrontation between Bray Wyatt and The Boogeyman, looking back that had soooooo much potential for a storyline for the ages if done right, except well lord and behold, we all knew without a shadow of a doubt, back then they were either NOT gonna do it right, or rather NOT DO IT AT ALL IN THE FIRST PLACE. Now with Windhan passing away (may his soul rest in peace and power) i would have just loved to se them both feud. I personally think it was a huge missed oportunity

This is why I always laugh at fans today crying about Roman and wanting him to “drop the title”. You fans put him through hell for years and it started in 2015! This current run is his payback, he’s doing what he wants and you are all paying your hard earned cash, watching feverishly every week to see his downfall and lining his pockets. Looking back at it the 2014 rumble wasn't even that bad like the match was actually quite good and people who hate it was cause Bryan wasn't in it. Looking back why would he be especially at number 30? If anything they would have put him in the first two with punk (since punk was assigned number 1).
I think if Batista came back the next year it wouldn't have been that bad he was just coming back at the wrong time maybe his schedule wouldn't allow for it but who knows.
Getting back to Bryan he should have been number 2 and then you push everyone back a spot apart from 28 and 29. Keep big e at 29, have mysterio at 28 instead but have batista at 30. Keep The later Kane spot but instead of punk being eliminated have it be Bryan in the final 4 Getting eliminated by kane. You get maximum heat on kane and the authority and you keep everything the same to wrestlemania. A small change does wonders and barely affects anything. I think that works.

He quitted the night after the Royal Rumble, but he still was under contract with the WWE until the summer were he would eventually recive his release papers on his weeding day.
He walked out and was fired for it. So technically it’s both
Seems like the obvious choice if you are not going to go the crowds way, you put a damn heel out there to soak up the hate. But this has always been a WWE failure as well as most modern wrestling. They do not know how to book good baby faces on their own. There is a reason Hulk and Austin along with the Rock are popular faces. Even at the peak of Hulkamania in the golden age, hulk always worked and behaved a bit heelish. Same with Austin and Rock, they were more tweeners who were always beating up heels.
That is why AEW is so bad. The heels are all infinitely cooler than the faces. That along with faces behaving like incompetent fools. Why would I cheer for a guy who constantly walks into obvious traps?

The only thing those Rumbles proved is that fans are insufferable & the yes movement was some of the most corniest crap throughout that whole era of WWE. The fact that Daniel Bryan ended up injured & retired soon after made the whole investment in him completely pointless.
Perhaps it's a good thing that it happened because those kinds of crowds that would hijack shows are all but gone to AEW, which, ironically, is where Daniel Bryan is right now.
