I just got my corolla shocks in today. I had ordered them before seeing this video, but i had 2nd guessed myself so many times because of all the options with different weighted vehicles. I went with KYB 343149 because others had said that altered ego includes these shocks with their lift kits.
Ended up returning them and going with some toyota tacoma bilsteins from a ‘23 TRD offroad tacoma. So far theyre awesome, I did have to drill out the upper shock tower slightly to fit the bilstein bushing cap and used 6mm of washers on the bottom mount because the base was skinnier than the trackers mount, but the bolt fits perfect.
on one of my zuk`s i ran shocks frrom a 90`s dodge 2500 series the front ones......yes dodge parts lol...i had a 6 in lift they rode perfect and i had awesome flex
I do not use any social media but facebook but I also love your vids.I had to buy a reliable everyday car that happened to be a forester but as I get back to work I am looking for a trooper or a metro to build up. thanks for your awesome vids.
Ebay sells extension bolts for the rear so you can run the original shock's. There imported from Russia $40.00... don't forget the spacer for the differential wishbone
Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. But I have one question. I’m installing a 2 inch lift kit front and rear, so wouldn’t I need to change the front struts as well? If so, which ones should I use? I think someone else asked a similar question, and you said it was because the front uses struts, but could you explain a little further please? I don’t understand why they wouldn’t need to be longer. Thank you.
Sure no problem...its actually because the lift comes with spacers for the struts...making the over all length of the strut longer...I have another video on the lift if you'd like to have a boo...don't forget you'll need to use camber bolts to fix your camber after the lift...also in another video...hope that all helps...cheers!!
Great video, i out those shocks on my 1996 2 door tracker 4x4 and just finally took it offroad yesterday. Unfortunately my coils are unloading to much and sliding off the retaining lip on my aluminum soacers . Seems the shocks are to long creating to much fall out . Im thinking i may have to get 2" lift springs and ditch the spacers ? I think the springs will still loose all pressure and rattle a bit but not fall out . Im surprised yours are not doing the same .
@@littlemancaveontheprairie4753 well i just talked to My at zukes in AZ . He said the control arms are supposed to bind to control the top out. So i guess the shock length have nothing to do with my springs falling out .ill check my control arm bushing s today
I’m going to be installing a 2” lift on my sidekick soon, I was going to order some KYB shocks for a 1986 Toyota Corolla after checking out your video. Are you still happy with the shocks? Thanks! I appreciate your videos 👍
@@littlemancaveontheprairie4753 Right on! I really appreciate it 👍 I will order those shocks up then 🙂 I have the 2” lift kit to install, someone before I bought the sidekick already installed a 2” body lift, I’m not really thrilled on the body lift but I don’t feel like removing it. I bought a smaller 5000# winch, I’m planning on building a nice front bumper this winter. Should be a fun project. I still want to install a locking rear diff but man they are expensive. Take care 👍
I just bought a 95 Tracker 1.6 16 valve 5 speed 4x4. It wanders in,the ruts on the road so so far I've replaced both front wheel bearings and seals and drivers outer tie rod end, threads had play so new adjuster but too. It rides better and is tighter but still is a scetchy on the freeway. So I ordered new rear wheel bearings next and am putting on Monroe cheapy shocks for now. I have 30 x9.5 inch Cooper Discovery tires and it sat for about a year. Im hoping new rear wheel bearings and shocks will at least help. Thanks for the info on the Corolla shocks. Im putting Toyota or bigger axles in soon but need this thing not to kill me in the meantime. I think I will put new lower ball joints in also. Does yours grab the ruts in the road and make it swerve?
Absolutely. ..I find when I get Tinton the trucker ruts it really throws me around...making sure your alignment is good and your camber will improve this quite a bit...I have a video on that too if you'd like to check it out
Do the 235/75/r15's fit well on the stock rims? Looks like you've got OEM rims on it but I thought they were 5.5 inches wide, and most 235's are listed as 6-8 inches for rim width. Certainly wouldn't like to order the tires then find out I need new rims as well. Thanks! edit: wow I'm dumb I put this on the wrong video my bad haha
84-87 Corolla shocks? Why not KYB? Considering the weight, it sounds about right for smoother ride. The other shocks mentioned were for pickup. Please expand...
Well just after alot of research and talking g to people that have tried alot of different ones I went with these...and I. Very happy with them...I mean there are alot out there that "fit"...but are too soft...too hard...or don't have the travel that these do...
Hey Mancave, I've got a 92 geo tracker w a 2" suspension spacer lift coming to install, but I just replaced the OEM shocks on the stock height. Do I need longer shocks for just a 2" lift or would you recommend these shocks?

Original shocks don't have near the travel that these do...and really...40.00 is alot for just that with no improvements

Well the shocks definitely control the fall out. Longer shocks more fall out. I installed some spring hooks yesterday. They should do the trick.
To bad I can't attach a pic on here. The hooks came out nicely. Top and bottom of the springs are secure now.

Are those the shocks with (and forgive me for using inches) a 2” suspension lift? Also did you ditch the metal gas tank shield?
Yes and yes...actually mine didn't have the shield when I got it...

Just the rear...trackers have struts in the front...
