Part time horn player and forever bandgeek here. Great job on our national march. Your playing really communicated the fun you must have been having with this. By the way, could you please identify the quartet left to right in this video. They did a fantastic job. Bass bone is on the left, correct? Cheers and go trombones. You all deserve a round of beers for this one :)
I played the trombone for 9 years in school and got a scholarship to college, and I have NEVER heard anything like that. That was more than awesome. It was TOTALLY OUTSTANDING.
WhatIt'sWorth Cool your jets there buddy, there are fewer women than men who play trombone, so if their being a woman is part of their trombone identity let it be. Mentioning that you're a woman who plays trombone is not the reason that sexism exists, that's as ludicrous as Bones Apart are fantastic.
Being proud of your identity is not the same as pointing out someone who shares your identity. Angelina did not point out that they were female trombonists, she mentioned that she was proud to be one. I'm proud to play the trombone because of the many wonderful things the instrument can do, and because of the fantastic professionals who are our role models. I appreciate that I was perhaps a little condescending to you in my last reply, and I'm sorry for that. Angelina is not the reason sexism exists, nor is she perpetuating it. She simply feels well represented by Bones Apart and looks to them as role models.
As much as i love how majestically 1st bone is playing, i LOOOOVE how 4th is playing those beyond rounded and clear pedal tones. As a bass bone and tuba player, i very much admire and appreciate this. And not just 4th, or 1st, but everything/everyone in its entirety.
These ladies are SO AWESOME!!! This same ensemble, BonesApart, played this when they paid a visit to my college!! As a trombone player, I was BLOWN AWAY!! Those lip trills that she pulled off are SO HARD to do. I LOVE THESE LADIES!!!
I played trombone for years...and I couldn't begin to dream of playing the piccolo part. They make it look so effortless. One in a million trombone players could play those trills. And I love the sound of that bass too. This is AMAZING!!
My middle school band teacher showed this to me waaaaaay back in the day when this was a brand new video and it blew my little alto saxophone mind. Now 14 years later it’s still blowing my mind! I completely forgot about it and searched for half an hour before I remembered what song it was.
holy crap... I'm a trombone player of 7 years and that is just amazing... I love the way they made it sound like a big band but with only 4 trombones the parts were all handled amazingly ya there may have been a couple misses but even the pros miss this is just amazing and they all look young I mean that's talent you want to go see in real life
Some of the best sounding and matching trombones I have heard! The ensemble sounds perfect together and as always, I must say the bassbone knows what she's doing! I am in awe...great job!
A very good example of the British brass tradition mostly due to the lively brass band movement there. England always had a reputation of producing outstanding brass players. As far as the piece goes: I've been in a number of concerts where the piccolo solo has been traded around; trumpets, saxes, tuba (almost mandatory!) etc. & even had a fling at it myself on tenor & bass trombones.
I myself am a trombone player. I admire those girls so much. All four of them are so talented. I wish I could just hang out with them and have a little trombone jam session!
Still the best! After the first player finishes playing the picolo part, the audience pauses before spontaneously applauding. I believe this is because they absolutely can't believe what they had just heard, and had to catch their breath for a second.
Wow!! what can I say? I played the trombone for 7 years and barely picked it up since 1981 when I graduated. That was absolutely amazing!! I can't even begin to try to triple tongue like that. Post more please!!!
They're clapping for the piccolo solo, played by the lead trombone. Get off the high horse, if music moves people, then no reason they shouldn't respond!!
Spectacular!!! The whole thing is great, but especially love the piccolo part on trombone. You got the whole thing here - bombast, virtuosity, humor, musicality and pink shirts!
my wife and I are both musicians, she plays trombone and I play french horn (and a little trombone, not my main instrument). we saw bones apart when they came to the USA a few years ago, doing a trombone clinic-- FULL OF AWESOME.
What a great performance. These girls play with balls......that is not sexist or rude. Every trombone player alive knows that this a great compliment. Way to go girls.
great tune. all of the trombones in harmony like that made it sound incredible. i also play the ol' bone but ive just started. i hope i get as good as you lot. hooray!
Ho-Lee-Cow! Wow! I love the uber-fat sound of the the low trombone (bass trombone? is that the right word?) How in the world do they do those trills? Incredible! Very moving! Great job!
i know ive listened to this a million times. and yes that first trombone part is so amazing. but then so is everything else. just listen to the bass bone. my god does that have amazing power next to it. i can get enough of this recording ha
This... is... beautiful. To join the pics versus trombones argument: they each have their place. To make a trombone do what a pic does is a feat of prowess and to be commended. Pic players get props accordingly, though their instrument is better suited and it is expected that they handle that solo. ...and the best version I ever heard was for brass-band. Eb soprano cornet takes the solo. Best of both worlds: brass like a trombone and filly like a pic. Cornets *nods* did you feel it coming? WIN
Those trills and that rip gave me the shivers. Piccolo players beware.
Tru dat
the dislikes are just angry piccolo players who realized the trombonist played the solo better than them
LMAO! I'm a piccolo player and I"m freaking impressed as hell. LOL!
I've played both and no way I could have done that on my trombone...
Darth Trombonist 😂👍
Seems legit!
Tromboner**
As a 52 yr old trombonist and been playing trombone since 1979 I can appreciate seeing more women and young girls play the instrument .
Can't see for sure, is she playing the piccolo part withOUT having an F-valve?! Holy crap she's good!
Sends shivers down my spine!
I certainly was! 😉

One's that power
I played the trombone for 9 years in school and got a scholarship to college, and I have
NEVER heard anything like that. That was more than awesome. It was TOTALLY OUTSTANDING.
This makes me so proud to be a female trombonist
You're the reason sexism exists. How about you just say, wow they're amazing trombonists and not feel the need to mention they're female.
And there are fewer Asians in America than Caucasians. Doesn't mean I need to point it out every time I see one.
Being proud of your identity is not the same as pointing out someone who shares your identity. Angelina did not point out that they were female trombonists, she mentioned that she was proud to be one.

Holy pedal tones batman!!! Has anyone else tried pedal tones that low on bone? Jesus. And that pic solo after the accelerando! God that's skill
Probably a good Yamaha Bass Bone utilizing a tuba mouthpiece. Either that or she's got chops of steel. She only went to an Ab. LOL
Anne Pfeil Lol my friend just hit pedal E on his bass bone today in jazz, lowest physically possible, it's more like having chops of floppy meat
mini hoov
Hey dude ;)
As far as I know is the subcontra B the lowest note possible on a bass Trombone.
;)
nope. pedal E is the lowest physically possible on bass trombone
Balthasar Schüss and the lowest pedal note she hit was that E
I like how at 0:57 she turns her trombone to the crowd to say thanks

Glad you found it again! We had no idea anyone was filming us - and then someone uploaded it to RUclips and it gained loads of views!
INCREDIBLE! I've played this piece on my flute, and I struggled with the solo part! I can't even imagine playing it on trombone! Congrats ladies!
I have watched this UMPTEEN times and it STILL gives me goosebumps. Sure wish there were more videos of these gals...
holy crap... I'm a trombone player of 7 years and that is just amazing... Anyone, musician or not, is able to appreciate this. Nice job to all of the players. What a great video.
Literally goals. Wishing I can play like this someday 😫 Practice is the solution!!
Bones Apart is an amazing group! Changed my life hearing them live!
This still gives me chills everytime
Yes!
this is actually one of the most badass things i’ve ever seen in my life and i’m jealous of the skill
this is so good, it makes we want to put my horn in a trash can and just give up playing O_O
Some of the best sounding and matching trombones I have heard! The ensemble sounds perfect together and as always, I must say the bassbone knows what she's doing! I am in awe...great job!
初めてこの演奏を聴いて10年は経った^_^
時の流れ早い!
About 10 years has passed since I heard that performance first time. Time goes by quickly!
Time flies when you're having fun lol
Brilliant Ladies!!! The irony Brits playing the Stars/Stripes!! Superb ovation from a Colonial here..Vancouver Island,
It’s because it was our first trip to the USA as a quartet - we had no idea it would go down so well!
Trills had me laughing in happiness - nice job.
realy good. I miss playing trombone

OMG this makes me miss playing so much, that was bad ass, great job ladies! :~)
I myself am a trombone player. I admire those girls so much. All four of them are so talented. I wish I could just hang out with them and have a little trombone jam session!
Of course youtube gives me a video 13 years after release
I watch this everyday and still love the sound
Dat Lip Trill Dough!
this is my favorite trombone performance. it gives my goosebumps.
It feels weird seeing a trombone quartet without the bassbone on the far left
Still the best! After the first player finishes playing the picolo part, the audience pauses before spontaneously applauding. I believe this is because they absolutely can't believe what they had just heard, and had to catch their breath for a second.
RIP their mouths
Wow!! what can I say? I played the trombone for 7 years and barely picked it up since 1981 when I graduated. That was absolutely amazing!! I can't even begin to try to triple tongue like that. Post more please!!!
how the? who the? what the? WOW!
Practice 40 h a day and you can play anything
I am totally in awe everytime I watch this!! Way to go ladies, that was brilliant and just flawless!! Please post more.
Perfect :-)
one of the best quartets i've heard!
I really hate when they clap during the performance. Wait till they're done
MURICAH!
They're clapping for the piccolo solo, played by the lead trombone. Get off the high horse, if music moves people, then no reason they shouldn't respond!!
James Dubberly True. That is the piccolo part.
It did take us by surprise!
@@JDubbs1965 That was me 6 years ago; listening to this video again I don't really know why I wrote this lmao
Am I the only one that thinks its funny that this *UK* quartet is doing *Stars and Stripes*? They should be in the USAFB!
Brings very real tears to my eyes. Oh how I love listening to talented trombonists. This is phenomenal.
Fantastic my Pop & Brother were trombone players, while I'm trumpeter in HS. I never seen ladies playing trombone this good... Bravo!!!
Das ist so gut, dass man keine Worte finden kann!!!
These girls are amazing. Oh to be able to play my trombone like that......=)
Amazing. Unbelievable. This went RIGHT to my favorites.
that is unbeleivable!! unbelievable job..... that is some of the best playing i have ever heard
Spectacular!!! The whole thing is great, but especially love the piccolo part on trombone. You got the whole thing here - bombast, virtuosity, humor, musicality and pink shirts!

As both a trombonist and a composer, I think this is amazing!
Damn fast accurate trombone positions and the flute part on the trombone is amazing
this is worth the views! i was blown away! its hard to find good female trombonists. this actually makes me look kinda bad. good job ladies!
that was absolutely incredible!! Thanks ladies, I know how hard that is, I used to play the trombone. Your on my favs!
A British trombone quartet performing a great American classic. Way to go, girls! It doesn't get any better than this.
You gals are absolutely great!!!
Damn, you all sound so amazing!!!
This is incredible. Thanks for showing what female trombone players can do!
Holy shit that was beautiful I didn’t know trombones can be this beautiful
What a great performance. These girls play with balls......that is not sexist or rude. Every trombone player alive knows that this a great compliment. Way to go girls.
Wow I've never heard the trombone play the piccolo part. Impressive!
That was me!
This is incredibly, I myself play the trombone. I'm not as good as these people, its a very humbling piece.
That bass trombone playing - I am in total love.

Ho-Lee-Cow! Wow! I love the uber-fat sound of the the low trombone (bass trombone? is that the right word?) How in the world do they do those trills? Incredible! Very moving! Great job!

I used to play trombone and this is fantastic!!!! Congratutations!!!
These Gals are awesome at their tone and articulation!! Great JOB!!!!
I would have liked to hear the whole piece, being an American. As a whole, from here they started from, Exceptional.
I played Trombone from 5th grade thru 12th...this rocks....never came close to this level
I love playing trombone quartets in college... You get to play good songs like these and many others.
What a talented group of young Women Musicians!
Thanks John!
Damn! I had no idea trombones could do this. and girls to no less. Awesome performance. A fave.
I have been playing the trombone for 3 or 4 years or something like that.... This is outstanding o_o
Great toe-tapping performance. You got over a million hits! John Phillip Sousa would be proud of you!!!
FANTASTIC!!! I love it - great playing!
it makes me smile to hear the piccolo part turned into a trombone menagerie of lip slurs. amazing job!
THIS CLIP IS NEARLY 10 YEARS OLD!
Keep up to date with Bones Apart on facebook and follow us on twitter @bonesapart.
i know ive listened to this a million times. and yes that first trombone part is so amazing. but then so is everything else. just listen to the bass bone. my god does that have amazing power next to it. i can get enough of this recording ha

That just goes to show trombones can be the whole band. Piccolo part and all. Great job.
So good amazing trills
So awesome. Great tone, intonation, and articulation! 5 stars.
Brilliant ladies!!! just brilliant, that's all I can say! the trills give me chills!
Lip trills are a bear; could never do them. So this video, to me, becomes a wonderful lip trill-filled fantasy. I can watch this once a week. :)
Hey thats was a good job, it's awesome seeing that Trombones aren't just a male instrument to be played!
outstanding tone up in the high register
i'm pretty sure you just became my new hero :D
Wow!!! these people are amazing! they play like professionals!
Interesting the regular-trombone-solo was left out of the repeat. My favorite part of the whole march. (and that bass trombone is totally to die for)
heyy peoples i am in beginer band this year and these girls rock!! good job.
Oh my goodness!!! You people really have talent!
