When you came out of the station at Appleford and turned right. Instead of turning right at the road bend and walking all the way around the road-way. You could have gone the church and river way which takes you along the Thames Path and will get you to the museum doorstep in half the time as walking all the way around the road will. Just a little tip for your next visit. It is signposted as well to Long Wittenham that way but if your not a local I can see why you would go the road way.
