One way to be sure you are eating "Real" moss is eat Chondrus Crispus. It can't be pool grown. Gracilaria is almost ALWAYS pool grown or grown on ropes in the ocean and grows year round which is why it's easier and cheaper to find. Chondrus does not grow year round and only grows in the Atlantic cooler ocean. Hope this helps someone 🫶🏾💞

There are about 200 varieties of Sea and Irish moss.I heard the thick one is fake gmo.Also it's very salty.The real ones are thinner with less salt on them.
Thank you for testing and reviewing them all. Based on your research and my comparisons, the kind I have is ocean farmed as the stems were long, and it gets very thick and has an oceanic smell. I still struggle with the ocean taste even with the lime, but at least it's legit.

I just purchased some sea moss (authentic) and have the basic Ninja blender. It didn't blend as well as I would have liked in order to produce the gel. Just a thought. If sea moss is so good, it contains 90 plus different minerals that our body needs. In that case, salt is the same. Pink himalian salt contains 72 different minerals, and pure rock salt contains 92 different minerals. We can just add salt to our water and food? Would that be the same and cheaper.

No it was actually one of them was in my favorites. The owner reached out when mentioned in a IG story that I would be using it in my video and they wanted to know how I would be testing and I told them I wasn’t sure yet. All I know is it makes me feel good. I’ve been buying the same stuff (threw out the package but it’s called Irish Sea Moss I think from Ghana). But I’ve prepared a lil differently. First time and according to instructions I cooked it then blended it. It was the thickest n most ‘powerful’ to date and I only let it soak 2-3hrs or so. Since then no cooking yet seemingly less potent or I’m getting used to it? They were thinner as well but I think it’s cause I added more water. Maybe I should just cop your best on my next go round but I’m trying to find a consistency I can rely on. Thanks.
Question about the experiment. One of the providers gave instructions for how to prepare their version of sea moss. Is it possible that some of the others should have been blended with varying amounts of water for better gel consistency? Or was that the overall best way to prepare all sea moss? I ask because some rehydrate bigger than others. 16 oz of water for a dry 0.5 oz of one moss made it into frozen applesauce while others were like water consistency. Thanks for the information. I used that fake international market moss before. Hated it, so I'm looking forward to trying a more authentic moss.

Good experiment but there’s several things I would have done differently. After the wife tasted one she should have rinsed out her mouth or drink some water and individual spoons. Then I wouldn’t of mentioned which was “fake” until she commented on each of them. Her expression / mind gave it a negative impression of it (ie. when she put it back for last). Beside those two things it was an informative experiment

Soaking is to rehydrate it. The washing is to remove the impurities.

I ask because some rehydrate bigger than others. 16 oz of water for a dry 0.5 oz of one moss made it into frozen applesauce while others were like water consistency. Thanks for the information. I used that fake international market moss before. Hated it, so I'm looking forward to trying a more authentic moss.

it also depends on how deep it was growing and what it was attached too- like coral is thinner and rocks is thicker I think or the other way round
Good experiment but there’s several things I would have done differently. After the wife tasted one she should have rinsed out her mouth or drink some water and individual spoons. Then I wouldn’t of mentioned which was “fake” until she commented on each of them. Her expression / mind gave it a negative impression of it (ie. when she put it back for last). Beside those two things it was an informative experiment

My nephew had some he let me taste. It had a slight chlorine taste to it, so much so I could barely swallow it. I don't know much but my nephew insisted I take some for the minerals and nutrients. Well if it has a chlorine taste I’d say that the water you used must have had chlorine in it
"Chlorine taste" is definitely a sign of a fake sea moss...
