I don’t always need new things.. I just want Disneyland to be at its best. Keep it clean, keep the rides going, keep things fresh. Take away the reservations and they will be good.

Fireworks aren't new....and have always been a major part of Disney. As well as parades though I personally prefer no parades ....less annoying crowd control needed. But also in the past the CA locals pass was not requiring reservations...which worked better for hard working people who can barely get by and use their fun money to attend Disney when they can manage to make time off of work. Now that sounds continually screwed. So I agree; I don't need new either. I would like them to maintain their traditional standards at a minimum while they raise prices...maybe pay employees more than the disgusting minimum wage so they don't have to sleep on benches etc.
They can also stop the excess of merch production where they aren't selling, and stop the "eco-" washing b.s. that's anymore toxic and harmful to the environment and more costly both upfront and over time. That would be great.

The crux of the problem is that they have been charging a lot more and offering less. Disneyland is a horrible value now.
If they get rid of parades, fireworks and other outdoor entertainment it is going to have a bad impact on ride capacity. When I was an annual pass holder, I would ride e ticket rides during Fantasmic, or a parade because they would draw crowds away from the rides. If those show were eliminated you can bet the lines will be long all day long.
I think they should eliminate the things that are pissing people off. Getting rid of Genie + and putting back the fast pass system would be a good start.

I think the core Disney fan appreciates nostalgia, and therefore Disney would do well to keep things that preserve the parks as they've always been instead of constantly trying to bring in the latest and greatest. Just keep the rides in working order and keep the parks clean and easy to attend, and we'll all keep coming.

Not every improvement has to be giant budget. The Golden Horseshoe is, at the moment, really just a quick service restaurant. I could see "good to go" days coming to Keys and tickets. I always thought the reservation system is great for very busy times, such as the holidays, holiday weekends, days when a new attraction opens, etc. Having the bulk of the calendar open to "good to go" days would probably be great for D's bottom line since people who impulsively decide to go to DL are probably also more likely to impulsively buy merch, etc.

    • @ari3lz3pp
      @ari3lz3pp 8 месяцев назад +2

Seriously. ❤ That's what I've found to be true when talking with and visiting the parks with people that visit frequently and would spontaneously vs planning it out.
To many locals, like myself, it feels like A slap in the face if we are to continue having to deal with the reservation system if other passes do not. And quite frankly it feels like it doesn't make sense since most of us are very hardworking and don't always get work days off to go to the parks...
Sometimes we cannot plan ahead in advance because workplaces do not know if they'll be able to give an extra day off.... and yet when we visit the parks we spend a lot of money enjoying it. We also like to spend our one or two vacations a year to be at the parks! In Disney hotels which are NOT cheap. We just know saving that money doesn't get far for more practical things so we are ready to spend it on a pleasurable Disney experience.
Especially considering the nostalgia of many locals that buy the low tier passes..We have generations of family that have contributed to the Disney brand by investing what they do have. It's been a welcome escape from a lot of the drama in the world of course. Being locals I feel there are many more loyalty fans in the area.
The lower cost prices were supposed to be a reward for that loyalty as well as an understanding that surrounding zip codes to Disney are extremely expensive and difficult to live in. I was born and raised here and several times in the past We have wanted to move but we literally cannot afford to. Even if we saved our money instead of going to Disney. Lol
If Disney's going to keep hiking prices and providing less value, slapping us in the face with things like removing fireworks, and not allowing spontaneous visits.... It makes more sense for people like me to save the money towards other things at that point.
If we feel like we are free to visit the parks when we get a random day off, or one of our typical days off we aren't busy handling business- We can scoot up to Disney and spend our extra money there instead of going to the movies or on a shopping spree for frivolous things, etc. We would spend it all at Disney.
I have plenty of friends and family from out of state and have met other people from out of state when we are at the parks.. I don't know any of these people that go to the parks and spend a bunch of money on March and food.
Most of them prepare well ahead to make sure they don't have to do that, They tend to also not stay at Disney hotels because they think that's a ridiculous concept. Many of these people are also from other parts of the country where it makes more sense to save money than to spend it in such a way... And they tend to not be as loyal to the brand itself.
My family enjoys nostalgia of the parks, I even have photos from the 1950s after it opened... My great-grandma and Grandma were not wealthy people by any means but they could afford the park. As well as with my mother when we were growing up. In the '90s... Until about 2013 I feel the parks were on an upward trend.
Part of the reason the Disney brand was so successful is because of the sense of equality when it came to experiencing even the parks. That's what Walt intended.
That's not to say that he threw out all of his practical business ideas. But something that made the brand unique and pulled people away from other brands was this idea of an ethical side to it. That there was opportunity for all to enjoy . The wealthy could obviously buy their way into a much more luxe experience. But it was not done in the way that it is starting to be done now. Where it feels like people that aren't wealthy legitimately can't afford to experience a lot of the basic aspects of the parks.
I think that's going to continue destroying the brand and more people will walk away that have been loyal investors....even with money. Though perhaps not the wealthy. But I wonder if a very small percent of the wealthy are going to invest as much as the much larger group of poorer, and "middle class" families do...

The more desperate they get, the more they'll start giving us back small perks and things that we've been asking for. I could see the death of the reservation system, the return of free FastPass, more hotel perks, and/or cheaper prices on tickets/hotels coming out of this depending on how bad it gets. My major concern as Disney enters this "ramen" mode is that they may never leave it. Cut costs, reduce the experiences, raise prices to survive 2024 as you put it. Then when that survival time is over, the same cost cutting can just go straight to their bottom line and juice the stock price and executive bonuses, without ever producing a better product for customers.

I feel this tidbit keeps being overlooked. And I only point it out is to show that Disney's reservation system is a lot more limiting for EVERYONE than we may think. David, I appreciate your update videos and content you put out. You're very informative with what's happening at the DL parks. Kudos to you! 🤘
I would assume someone with the Disney corporation does watch your channel and relays feedback to the higher ups. They definitely could learn a lot from you. Currently Disney has only been talking the talk, for the sake of the shareholders. But they haven't been walking the walk. Lately, Iger hasnt seem much better than Chapek since his re-entrance. Granted it's only been a few months, but one would expect better results and changes to the parks. Changes that would appeal to the visitors/tourists going to the parks.
Disney has made some recent bad financial decisions, but they shouldn't take away from the appeal and esthetics of what makes the parks enjoyable to visit.
I'm more team DL, but had the once in a life time chance to visit the Orlando parks this summer and was very disappointed with the trip. Yes, the costs and fees were as I expected very high, but there seemed to be this loss of excitement going to those parks. Mainly EPCOT. The moment you walk into that park, it seemed bland and outdated. The cast memebrs at all those parks were super friendly, but there seemed to be no excitement going on over there. The rides were fun when my family and I managed to get on, but the rides were down on and off throughout our visit. It became an inside joke that the rides regularly shut down due to accommodations for a celebrity.
I don't expect Disney to ever lower the cost on anything, but the company has made it very difficult to enjoy some of those things that visiting the parks magical. Lack of parades, shows and interactions with characters to name a few. Removing the option to purchase the Inspire Key or any of the pass holder keys is only hurting the parks and some of it's revenue.
Appeasing the shareholders and not the park visitor's/tourists shouldnt be how it's done, but the opposite. Make the park visitor's happy, better park planning as well as better financial decisions will eventually raise stock and then make the investors happy... 🌺🌸

I don’t need fantastic new things. Just maintain what we have. Take care of the park and the Cast Members, and they will take care of the guests. Give us a good value for what we pay, and we will keep coming back, even if we don’t have new lands and rides.
And as for the company as a whole-the best way to strengthen the entertainment division is to listen to the striking actors and writers and come to an agreement to end the strike. The parks can’t compensate for movie and Disney+ losses forever.

At this point it would seem one of the only ways out for Disney would be to get bought out by Apple. Management changes are needed if they are taking forever on construction in the parks. Getting bought by Apple does have perks for the Parks if Apple is interested in them. For example, Apple could implement their tech in really cool ways into Disney Parks attractions like for VR and interactivity, plus any investment would be a drop in the bucket for them. Hopefully Apple will also put their thumb on the scale and get Disney to speed up their construction timetables though.

I think reservations are smart during peak seasons and holidays so the parks won't be too overcrowded. I've always disliked going to Disneyland where we are packed like sardines no matter where you are in the park. I feel like wirh reservations during peak and holidays keep the parks from being too crowded. We already have issues with wait times spending most of our day in lines.
Speaking of, as much as i like the convenience of the Genie for fast passes, i think they should still offer in park passes for free as an option. Plus the Genie kind of sucks that they don't have all the rides on there or you have to pay extra extra for the super popular rides?? Or am i misunderstanding that part?
They should stop with so much construction. It takes away from the experience when theres huge walls or skrim in every one of the lands. I understand fixes that are necessary but if they are truly strapped they should hold off on upgrades and just stick with the mandatory maintenance.
Make Disney affordable again! Walt never wanted this! Seems contradictory but itll actually bring more people into the parks if tickets are affordable which means more $$ for food and souvenirs. The prices of some of the food options are a little out there...but the souvenirs are nutso! Stop raising prices, pay cast members a livable wage, tell the big wigs to cut their salary 🙃 problem partially solved

With the Dream key lawsuit settled and ALL the Magic keys being renewal only (including the Inspire key) I’m wondering. If they are going to change them again-maybe even back to AP. The reason I think this is because they are trying to get rid of all of the magic key magic bands……by offering them free with purchase, people are buying more stuff (helping end of year sales) and they probably wouldn’t be worth any thing if the magic keys go away or are changed to something else. With the lawsuit over, they may want to put Magic Keys behind them.

Their analysis already revealed that Key Holders are undesirables - come to the parks and cause crowding and generally make the park experience less pleasure yet spend very little. Even vloggers have shown they will spend only if they're doing food reviews. Otherwise nothing - no souvenirs, no popcorn buckets, no Lighting Lanes, etc. Disneyland is most profitable when targeting out of state people.

Instead of sweep it under the rug, they should have been up front about it. "We are in trouble here but we are going to continue to deliver happiness and entertainment to an increasingly difficult world. Please come out to Disneyland and support us so we can continue doing what we love and get on the road to recovery." THAT should have been the message instead of "We obviously only care about money because now we are going to nickle and dime you to death, cut food portions down, make you pay extra for preferred parking, genie+, etc, etc."

I *NEVER* want to hear about how much money Disney is losing or how they have to tighten the belt. Please!!! Make no mistake, this multi-billion dollar company can and will do whatever they want, money be dammed. They also want to show they will fight tooth and nail against anyone suing Disney, even if it's a dollar, to counter anyone thinking they can get away with suing the company.
