Clarification 1 (excessive panel lines that goes nowhere and don't make any sense) what i mean is... Some people over exaggerate their "Panel Lining" and don't get me wrong i understand the desire to make your kit look more "realistic" and "appealing" but some people over do it which kinda ruins the overall aesthetic of the model (Especially on 1/100 scale) In the end that's just my opinion you don't have to agree with me, i like respectable panel lines that adds a little bit of exterior detail but does not overcomplicate the design looking like a checkerboard. Clarification 2 (if it isn't obvious yet...) I'm not saying that a Simplistic Inner Frame is BAD, All I'm saying is that if you compare this kit to "Some" Modern Master Grades, this one is more visually impressive. If you watched the last review you would know that i don't mind a Simplistic Inner Frame, Plus i grew up building some High Grade kits, so having no inner frame isn't really a BIG issue for me, as long as the kit gets the job done and stays solid that's good enough for me.
The teal color was because when people watched the anime on old TV, that's what it was supposed to look like due to the technology back then. But great review! The ballsack joke caught me off guard.
I love the kit and I have the same complaint as you which is the white parts are bluish white out of the box rather than clean white. I have 0% artistic talent so I can't paint. So what I did was make my GM a patchwork of colors using leftover armor parts from other GM-type kits. Like the GM [WD] had leftover black parts, the GM Sniper Custom had leftover green parts, and the GMII had leftover pure white parts. So I slapped these different color armor parts haphazardly to make my GM have a field repaired look. haha Anyway, love your vid and review style. Keep up the good work!
I am just buying this kit. I truly appreciate your fresh take on reviewing this. Maybe you can show more of your painting and finishing process as you seem to be good at it. Keep it up.
oh i'm still here ahahaha, don't worry i'm already editing the next video. it's just a lot of things happened last year, some personal shit and some other BS that i couldn't really do anything about (there was 2 Typhoons back to back on july to august, Soo at that time i couldn't really paint the next Kit, and then on top of that, some other personal BS happened... so yeah, i had to deal with those issues first) apologies for my complaining ass it's all good now though i'm already working on the next review and the KIT is already painted.
it's a known secret that the production team made many coloring mistakes, such as making RX-78's blade antennas yellow instead of white in some scenes, or using inks that ain't the same when previous bottles ran out. add the fact that some Remastered Versions of old gundam series actually changed the brightness levels & tinkered with the colors to make them look better -resulting in different shades of colors for the mobile suits. so for those "150% anime purists", just pick a different scene. or change the color settings on your TV until the colors are "accurate". awesome videos, man. keep em coming!
A lot of refined anime scenes are people uploaded to twitter right now that correct the de-saturation/discoloration of anime. I wonder if that has affected 0079 as well.
Though it was never seen with the normal red GM. There where some standard GMs that duel weld beam sabers so if someone where to repaint the GM in one of those colors the backpack wouldn't look to weird with two beam sabers
This kit goes to my wishlist and sad that its not gonna be cheap for me to get one due to scalpers towards rare kits. Tho i love getting the other MG GM kits before getting this one😊 ❤
We shouldn't focus too much on anime accuracy, most of the details in the various designs (such as the white inner feane in the GM) weren't fully intentional, but rather shortcuts to make the animation easier. Let's keep in mind that the GMs were extras in the first anime, and as such their design was treated just like the costumes and props used by extras are treated in live action movies. That's why i prefer the modern redesigns, they feel closer to what the GMs were supposed to look in-universe.
If ya want a good kit suggestion. Then the mg jegan is pretty damn good. Just built one in between this comment and my last one. Only downside is that all the decals are sticker style.
My first MG is Gundam RX 78 2 Origin. And I thought I'm and only one also had breaking arm parts. It's seems I'm not only one. But I've been wondering is RX-78-2 V3.0 worth it?
Maybe put super glue on the ball joint (don't plug the skirt in) let the ball joint dry, then plug in the skirt. - Usually this is the technique for loose joints (however i haven't tried it yet on the skirts, it's just an idea) Another one you can try is sticky tack, or masking tape, or surgical tape on the ball joint (again this is just an idea) Lastly Top Coat the ball joint area with "Flat Clear or Matte Clear Coat" (I have tried this before, but they will loosen overtime, when you articulate your kits too often) Now these techniques will make the Ball Joint thicker, now keep in mind the Socket for the side and back skirts are designed for that specific ball joint size, and since the ball joint is thicker, the socket might break. These are just my crazy ass ideas at 11:24 PM (i just woke up🥱), sooo i suggest you do your research on them.
Hey man, sorry for the late reply i was in the middle of my workout actually when i saw your comment. That is not actually paint, the material i used for the visor is called "Teckwrap Holographic Vinyl Sticker" specifically the Emerald Green Color. i bought it for $2 it comes in a roll (12 x 12 inches) Hobby Link Japan kind of has the same product named "Mirage Sticker" it comes in a small sheet for about $4. If you're curious about this tecnique i found it on Reddit (sorry can't remember the link though). you can probably achieve the same effect by painting it in "Metallic Green" (but i've never tried that before) Anyways i'll be getting back on my Workout now, i hope you find my Reply Helpful, have nice day my friend.
I would say 95% is painted. I was planning on painting the whole frame, however by the time i got to some of the small parts, i unfortunately Ran out of paint. So the biceps, shoulders and the upper chest "cover" were not painted. Oh and yeah i do paint the joints, i just mask them off before painting them.
I always paint inner frame in one color, recently even primer only(gaia nazca). tbh I want bandai making 1/100 version hguc, present day mg just annoying for me, way too many parts.

That is just pure spray paint, (industrial type spray paint) The small inner frame parts were hand painted with tamiya metallics. Btw I don't have an airbrush, i live in a pretty tight neighborhood and i might get complaints or something. Also i have 3 dogs and i don't really have a garage or more specifically a place for a painting booth, It really sucks. having an airbrush would probably make my life easier, both as a Gunpla builder and Cosplayer.

Gunpla is a plastic model meant to be displayed, not a toy to be fiddled with like fidget spinner and I will stand by that. A model's priority first and foremost is to have good details and then accuracy to source material. This model have enough articulation to pull the poses from the anime should you want to display it like that, and that should be it.

My first MG is Gundam RX 78 2 Origin. And I thought I'm and only one also had breaking arm parts. It's seems I'm not only one. But I've been wondering is RX-78-2 V3.0 worth it?
3.0 is not worth it. The origin is probably the best mg for the Rx-78-2 is the 2.0 and origin version.
Is there any way to reinforce the attachments of the back and side skirts?
Maybe put super glue on the ball joint (don't plug the skirt in) let the ball joint dry, then plug in the skirt.
- Usually this is the technique for loose joints (however i haven't tried it yet on the skirts, it's just an idea)
Another one you can try is sticky tack, or masking tape, or surgical tape on the ball joint (again this is just an idea)
Lastly Top Coat the ball joint area with "Flat Clear or Matte Clear Coat"
(I have tried this before, but they will loosen overtime, when you articulate your kits too often)
Now these techniques will make the Ball Joint thicker, now keep in mind the Socket for the side and back skirts are designed for that specific ball joint size, and since the ball joint is thicker, the socket might break.
