Kayaking the Wisconsin Dells - Town of Lyndon Boat Launch to Illinois Ave - October 2023

Put-in at the dedicated boat launch called Town of Lyndon Boat Launch. Takeout off of Illinois Avenue. This is a 6 mile trip which starts with about a (1) mile paddle from one side of the river to the other to get to the left bank where the geology is the best. On the day of this paddle, it was a sunny 85 degree day and the power boaters were out in full force. This was the first time power boat traffic was an issue for this annual paddle of the WI Dells. So many boats were throwing big wakes/waves toward us; after a while, it became a little distracting from the beauty of the Dells. Maybe next year we’ll hold off a little until the weather isn’t as prime for power boating and the crowds on the river thin down.
