Thank you this has been very helpful. My 14 year old cat has been diagnosed with apathetic hyperthyroidism and it’s been much easier to listen to you than try to understand Google.
Superb video, thanks very much! We've just come back home from our pre-assessment appointment at the Anderson Moores specialist vet clinic in Winchester - brilliant vet, very thorough and professional and very friendly and caring people - with our precious boy, who was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism over a week ago. He's almost 16 and apart from this condition is in very good health for a cat his age. We've decided that it's best for the furmily as a whole if we try the liquid or the gel medication, that way he will not be isolated or thibk he's being punished for something. If that doesn't work out we'll still have the curative option. The only reason we haven't picked the radiation treatment is because the process is a hell of a lot for him to be put through - I know my cat and that's just too much isolation for a cat who's used to live and cuddles every day. I'm hoping we have at least another 5 years with him. I'd die for my cats... can't live without them ❤🐈❤
Can you tell please me if I should defy my vet who prescribed 2.5 X a day methimazole gel on his ear. Keep reading comments it’s too high to lower the medication to 1.5 X a day. Started two days ago with the high dose.

Glad it was helpful! I hope your cat responds well to whichever treatment path you go down

It depends on the concentration of the gel as well as how elevated the thyroid hormone is
