Monsta X is what me and my old lady friends call Kpop for grown ups. Kihyun is the their main vocalist hitting the notes. Their b-sides are just as good. You cannot go wrong with listening to more Monsta X.

They delve into different music genres, styles and languages but have their own unique sound/stamp on their discography. The two rappers are Joohoney and I.M. Not trying to be biased but they are honestly one of the best K-rapper duos out there bc they compliment each other no matter what song they do, like their energy separately and together is so powerful. The song is the title to their album shape of love which is dedicated to monbebes. Then I.M is the one in the hallway that came after Joohoney. If you want my recommendation: I suggest to go through MX’s Korean discography first such as their title tracks Beautiful, Love Killa, Alligator, Jealousy…as for their B-sides, Thriller, Nobody Else, Mercy, U R, Stand together, Disaster….there are so much songs I could recommend so hopefully I didn’t overwhelm😅😅😅 but Monbebes (fandom name pronounced as “Mon-behbeh”) would really love it if you reacted to more of their music. First, i know im late to the reaction. For that, i apologize. But when you one one thing, it caught my attention and i had to say something about it. Let me start by saying, y'all look youger than me. I am 51 and have been listening to k pop off and on since around 09, when my daughter was very into the music. A lot of the music reminded me of older music we listened to in the States, back in the day. So i did some research. So there is a very big reason why this song, along with so many others that sound like old american hip hop. You see, when k pop first started, there was this guy by the name of Lee Soo Min. He was the head of SM. And he knew he needed a sound that would get the younger kids to listen. He came to america, listened to we had to offer and he loved it. He went back to korea and told them what he found, but they knew they didn't know how to create it. So Lee Soo Min called all over America to see if there would be a producer or two willing to go to korea and teach them. He found one, and he went and stayed for like 8 or 9 years. He is back and living happily in Las Vegas. That producer was Teddy Riley. So to say that a lot of the k pop stars today grew up listening to Blackstreet and New Jack Swing. Which is why it has that funk, and backbeat, fantasic sound and great lyrics. Joohanny never misses but niether does I.M. and with the combo of Honey's writing and producing abilities, I.M.'s ear for the right sound, Kihun's beautiful voice, Hyunwon's and Minhyuk's dancing and Shownu's well everything, this group really is the best of everything. And so badly underrated. They have their Mombebe's, of which i am one, but they need more attention, especially after that crazy ass saesang almost destroyed them, and made them lose one of their members. But thats what haopens when a saesangs has crap on political figures and heads of companies all over the country. She can get away with anything, and the group and fans get screwed. Sorry for such a long and very late post. I want to let you know you were right about the Teddy Riley comment.

Very excited to see you reacting to Korean soul music...from Bibi and then this Monsta X favorite track. Bibi more of a contemporary K R&B, but Monsta X definitely an old school jazzy bluesy R&B.
Every comeback from them I’ve loved. And that’s hard for me. From tresspass, fighter, all in, dramama, jealousy, beautiful, alligator, shoot out, love killa the album was amazing, fantasia, Jooheon produces a lot of their music, I.M has a deep voice and amazing rapper. Thier rap line is amazing and they don’t chase the best they ride it. Kihyun is going to devour them high notes. And I love them because they’ve always gave grown and mature while being experimental. They’ve produced, choreographed, styled and more on a lot of their work.
