the computer mixing ruined a lot of it. they manipulate everything to make it more catchy and addictive. i bet "stars" like Taylor Swift have all kinds of crap hidden in the music. Not blaming her. I blame the mixers/producers like Timbaland, Jay Z, P Diddy, Danger Mouse whoever else. grad high school in 92, good times. in denial of my age

The Violent Femmes are one of the best bands still touring. They're pros to the end & they really like their fans. Solid show, & a great bunch of people besides.
I miss my sister. She died about 5 Years ago: kidney failure related to a fever & clinical diabetes. She worked herself to death, basically. Anyway, Leonda (my sister) did actually take me to my first all ages show, Lords Of Acid backed by My Life With The Thrill Kill Cult at Hammerjacks in Baltimore, Maryland. It's still to this day the coolest, most exciting show I've ever been to. I miss my sister ❤❤. (And, yes, when she was in high school alot of the time she acted like I didn't exist, but I knew she was proud of the things I was doing at the time. I won a Statewide spelling bee & we both played lacrosse in high school & we played lacrosse toss & catch meaning we physically checked each other, we lived to put bruises on each other for 8 Years.) I miss my sister. She is the greatest. Noone in my life today can match her influence & good vibes. Through interacting with people, & like her empowering those people as she did, maybe I can come within a racing distance of helping people, of serving people in a way that I normally don't think of serving. My sister was a champion of everyone but herself. I'm too selfish today to rise to her ideal, but I really am trying to match her work. My sister was the best. I'm so fortunate to have grown up with her by my side. She taught me that hard work isn't enough in this World. To be truly impactful in this World you need to put yourself in places where people really depend on you & you can do service & help them & simply sit back when it's all done & watch. You don't need credit for your work. You're happy just to see other people shine. She is a great person, my sister. I miss my sister ♥️♥️.
That opening riff is almost too good for a radio hit. The Lemonheads had that part in It's a Shame About Ray that was also too good. Wonder if Juliana wrote that riff as well.
Had a ticket to see her trio at St. Louis' Blueberry Hill Duck Room last February-----but my kid sister's 50th birthday party was in Chicago on the same night. Listening to 'My Sister' on RUclips was the next best thing to being there in person.
Amazing song and performance by an influential, underrated artist. And Edsel Matic, I don't even know how to communicate with idiots, but I'll try my best........sorry she doesn't look like Katy Perry at 50ish, but she writes, plays all guitar, and sings all her own songs. Kinda impressive. Definitely no Autotuned, lip synced performance by some brainless skank, but she tries......LIVE. You are a joke.
I was lucky enough to catch this tour in Philly just a few weeks ago, and she did this session about a week after I saw her. So awesome. My 8th time seeing Juliana live. It did not disappoint. This is one of the greatest songs ever written. And god DAMN Juliana is still such a huge influence on me. I'm certain she's a huge influence on a lot of people. Thanks, KEXP. :)
Pretty damn good because that's not an easy song to play as a three piece. It's easy for the drummer and bass player, but to sing and play that shit at the same time on the guitar is tough. I've done gigs like that where you feel like throwing the guitar through somebodys head. Baffles me why she doesn;t get another guitarist because besides it sounding better you are also freed up to do so much more shit. I mean how about doing ventriloquism, get a puppet or a midget to take place of your image? Then when the song is over have them tossed?
+*Autistic Crybaby* Isn't it pretty cowardly and pathetic to criticise something while having the reply function disabled? It's kind of heartbreaking ; )
i'll bet we wouldnt have heard the song if she had... i think SHE should teach people how to sing like her because i dont need an expert to tell me something sounds good...
Should you learn not to be mediocre like your comment? Envious much? She belongs to the grunge era, if you want better singing, watch Mariah Carey buh!
This was how music was in the 90’s, live, no auto tune, no backing tracks, just art.

My teenager listens to almost all 90s music and he keeps finding more - smart kid
i used to love blasting this song knowing my sister could hear it
One of the greatest songs, from one of the greatest albums from the 1990s.
this is such kick ass feminine rock and roll energy. her choices are brilliant.
Dam even after all these years love ya Juliana
I love Juliana Hatfield and have since her first album. Some excellent songwriting
Fantastic! Juliana is so underrated, awesome guitar playing and voice.
She's always been so freaking awesome!
I love Juliana. This is one of my favorite songs of hers. Not many people sing about their sisters.
Wow. I haven't heard this song in ages. Was one of my favs growing up in the 90s. Exciting to hear it live.
The Violent Femmes and the Del Fuegos - that would have been great to see!

Juliana is so incredibly talented, and the bass player and drummer truely roxx
I love this! What a throw back 🫶🏻
This song and performance by Juliana always makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, just sayin'. Anybody else?

@@webby64channel35 Also? I really do hate my sister........shhhhhh.......
I love my sister she's the best! My sister really is the best❤️
Top 5 of dream girlfriends during this era
Actually, number one :)
great version, sounds just as good as she did in the 90s

Rayanne's party from 'My So Called Life' springs to mind.
I thought they used "Spin the Bottle" for that scene.
You could be right? It's gave me an excuse to watch the entire episode again to find out for sure :-)

Love this song.

not trying to sound "cool" at all. Just praising one of my favorite artists. Enjoy the music. That's what it's all about.
In fil matindi ang tunog ni juliana hindi maingay bkit nka ungos c courtney sa karisma b.❤
That SG is 100% pure motherfuckering!!! I want one
Te amo Juliana...

The song is awesome. She's awesome.
You can really hear the bass guitar!
Jesus, where do they find these people?
Saw them in Detroit in the 90’s - great show!
Well let me just have this song stuck in my head for weeks gosh darn!
Great song
Always been a fan
Great performance🙂
God! What an amazing song.
Good memories.
Great song!
Amazing
素晴らしい。大好き!
bravo!!! i miss you juliana
I really hate my sister's. Just because they are older they boss me around and patronized me and never listens to a word I say. This song is for them
Really solid rythem section. Juliana is pretty good too.
Love it!
solid tune! never heard of her
Haha- writing about the Violent Femmes and the Del Fuegos starting to get old. Now we're the old ones.
Saw this band live circa 1995? Can’t remember
This is really good video - For the birds was the song that really hooked me in time and space and where I was at - Ilike
I got no waddles! I got no waddles! :) god do I love that whole record
I WOULD LOVE TO WORK AS A CAMERAMAN OR AN EDITOR FOR THIS CHANNEL.

Does anyone know what tuning she is in? I want to cover this song.....
Standard, babe - key of E I think
@@kimberlyfloyd1009 Thanks, I think your right but she has a capo on the second fret.
that guitar has so much more potential than that, it's kind of heartbreaking.
Yes, totally. Not the best tone nor the best mix. The album and Conan version sound better.
Simple to play Drum
Trevor Moore Show brought me here.
how?

Lol, she has no sister
oh, maybe thats why the lyrics go "but I'm only talking to myself cause she isnt there................................"
it's an amazing lyrics considering Juliana doesn't have sisters

@@kevinparsley6806 No soft lad. The titular sister is dead.
Bit weak
Boring, she always was.
Not difficult to see the physical breakdown of the drug user
Wish she would've learned how to sing.
