👋 About Me 👋
After a successful business career where I've started and sold a number of companies, I've decided to get out from behind my computer to pursue a lifelong passion and start career 2.0 as a professional pilot. My goal is to get to 1500 hours and then either work for a large regional, a major, or possibly even cargo. Once my flight training is done, I will work as an independent CFI until I have reached the 1500 hours needed to get hired by one of the above. You can learn more at www.FlyWithTrent.com.

Thank you for putting this together! Both Part 1 and Part 2 are great
Currently taking ground school at my high school and our simulators use the g1000 instead of the 6-pack I learned about, so this is extremely helpful
Good to hear!
Thank you for this brilliant introduction! Please continue the series with more details, really appreciate your tutorials!❤
Sure thing!
Nice job explaining the MFD IN GENERAL AND THE APPROACH SPECIFICALLY.
Thx!
Transitioning from a 6 pack to G1000 and this was extremely helpful, thanks so much!
You’re welcome! Thanks so much for watching one of my videos! I really appreciate you taking a moment to comment!
You can use the "Range" knob to determine the elevation of wherever you are flying over. Simply push it in and the information pops up in the upper left of the MFD. This is helpful during maneuvers to determine pivotal altitudes and floor limits. You can also pan to find obstacle elevations if needed for added situational awareness.
Love it!
Thx for the video, very helpful. I recently started to fly in Neofly4 and the g1000 is my best friend in that. 😀 Grts from Belgium.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video by the way!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! I'll be starting my first pilot job on a King Air, and it's equipped with G1000's, so this series has been extremely helpful. Hopefully, you could, in the future, do a similar tutorial that goes more in-depth about the GFC700 autopilot. I'm sure it would be really insightful. Thanks again and take care! 😁
I just might do that. Thanks for the suggestion.
Great on both pts 1 & 2. Some vids on the G1000 can run for 1hr++. You covered everything in great time w/o going so fast that the tutorial became useless nor did you sacrifice clarity for brevity. I love both tutorials! Unquestionably the best as an IFR student.
One thing that I would like to see you cover is the use of the HSI w multiple nav mode in a realistic scenario! Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! And thx for the feedback!
Good advanced G1000 MFD review
Glad it was helpful!
This is my
Class for professional cirrus sim tomorrow. ❤❤
Have fun!
I think you can also request ground power in MSFS on ground freq. Might be airport dependent, but save on sim gas 😄
Cool!
Boy old boy I can see a lot of time in a Sim to retrain my brain from analog to Digital 😂😂 thanks Trent
🙌
Thank you for the video! Really appreciate it as I’m preparing to start my instrument rating. One question I have is why are there COM and NAV functions on both the PFD and MFD. Is that for redundancy?
No. They are the same system. Just displayed in multiple places.
I enjoyed this video a lot. I will admit, I still have questions. It would have been great to see the Top of Descent features you were talking about with the plane flying to fully comprehend what you were saying. The MFD for me is the most difficult to understand.
Sorry I didn’t cover that. I’ll do so in a future video soon.
Thanks for the G1000 tips! I’ll be finishing my IR training with one and don’t want to fumble around, cuz they charge extra for the hardware where I’m at lol.
Do you instruct out of KEUL? I’m going up there soon to do some back country flying and it’d be a pleasure to meet you
Both KEUL and KMAN
@@trent_dyrsmid very cool. I’ll look you up when I’m in town. Thanks for the good work you’re doing here!
🙌🙌
New to sim flight. Can you load the entire plane with approach, sids and stars on ground prior to flight???
Never tried doing that.
Half of the job of a modern pilot is computer programming, heh!
Yep.
Here from the MSFS side of things. thanks for the video. My new download of MSFS 40th Anniversary Premium Edition does not appear to offer charts in the MFD. The chart button is not active so I assume yours might be because of your subscription? I have no good reason to maintain my currency any longer due to off the hook expenses of flying and I got out when the Garmin 530 was the shiz! Back in the day, I had a Garmin 195 strapped to the yoke and the amount of data was absolutely insane coming out of that unit back in the mid 90's! It's crazy what's stuffed in a 172 now! I'm sponging all the data on the G1000 and G3000 now and immersing in MSFS. It scratches the itch to stay Intune without burning my money up!
Thanks so much for watching one of my videos! I really appreciate you taking a moment to comment!
