I live on one of the main steams in kaimuki and it’s the crazy homeless people living under the bridges that are creating a large amount of the non natural pollution
Alawai canal was always dirty since I remember in the early 1980s. But I have never saw that much debris this is the worst I seen it looks like a lot of ply board wood 😮.
Ummmm…what rain?? We are hoping for rain in Waikiki / Ala Wai canal but this is not happening here so not sure when this was… praying for rain the locals here!!!
When the rain dumps deep in the mountains that when flash floods happens. The water level goes from zero to a hundred in a few hours(sometimes minutes).
I always thought that ala wai was a man made travesty, not even the genki balls can clear up, that canal does not have the natural circulation which pushes filth out in the ocean
where you think the debris is from..from Kaimuki area, You can clean ala wai with your eco balls..but you not stopping the trash from before the ala wai....
I used to play and fish there in the 40s and50s, it was clean back then cause of the outlet on Campbell and kalakauà. The wall was not in existence then, just pure beauty.
Most likely caused by the many houseless living in the ditches these days. It wasn't like this back during past decades.
So a houseless threw a pickinick table in the water? Doubtful
It was always full of trash, you just didn't see it
Would be nice to see some actual locals being interviewed. Just saying!
Locals tend to be more camera shy
@@davec3651media wanted a clueless transplant instead
Oh no, the pristine tropical paradise doesn't meet the standards of tourists? I think a dirty canal is the least of Hawaii's problems.
Crime is numero uno.
@@Insomniac-c7e Nope. Cost of rent and property is numero uno, that is leading to both the crime and the trash.
Don't think these are tourists
If we can keep homeless from living underneath the bridges we won't get all this trash in the ala wai.
ACLU will forbid it.......that org is their "union"....
I live on one of the main steams in kaimuki and it’s the crazy homeless people living under the bridges that are creating a large amount of the non natural pollution
Yep all the homeless living under the bridges litter and personal belongings flow into the streams during big rain
We have money for 2 wars and don't have money to take care of our own😢
I saw a girl dressed proper not looking homeless at all climbed down a rope to under a canal bridge.
It's nice to see those two girls doing their part in cleaning up.
its the sitting and countings job
Agree, get plenty time to criticize and look pretty but not interested in cleaning up
Homeless debris.

It's shocking that rain has run off... the canal is doing its job and protecting Waikiki beach.
If your infrastructure sucks, everything sucks. Make Hawaii great again.
FILTHY MESS!
Ala wai has become the drainage catchment for all the mauka developement thats why
Soo Sad,poor Oahu, too much people a Way too much rubbish . People take care
Ummmm…what rain?? We are hoping for rain in Waikiki / Ala Wai canal but this is not happening here so not sure when this was… praying for rain the locals here!!!
apparently only poured mauka despite the weather alert.
Idk it rained up Makiki and get heavy rain Pearlridge side earlier today

Hey those 2 Hawaii experts should move to Lanikai to enjoy the blues
This is just the beginning 😱
I wouldn’t be so eager to hold the ‘found items’ out of the canal these days.
Poor ting🥱
What? How come it never rain AT ALL over here today near Ala Moana /Mcully? So weird to just hear about all this rain.
What they expect living next to a River runoff while heavy rains…? I’m no expert, but that’s nature right…?
Increased Population, Increase ie. Homelessness population = increase un-checked garbage , politically correct or not, that's the fact jack
Kauai too
Trash all along our roadways
People seem uneducated about littering
Looks like mostly organic stuff that washed down out of the mountain streams into Ala Wai canal .
Where all these rubbish from?!! There was NO RAIN IN ALA WAI!
It came from all of the culverts that run down the mountain, run under bridges, etc. Doesn’t have to rain in Ala Wai.
Its such a shame my Ali'i would never let this happen shame on you State of Hawaii.
The city doesn’t wana clean it up again , and the state is not going to do nothing it is
Sole crabs going come big now.
Hahaha
It will all wash out to sea.
whatever happened to those dirtballs that was magically gonna clean da alawai?
I always thought that ala wai was a man made travesty, not even the genki balls can clear up, that canal does not have the natural circulation which pushes filth out in the ocean
BU.....the genki ball will NOT dissolve a chair or mattress....
Those were related to microorganisms (e.g. bacteria). They're not gonna break down mattresses and debris landslides. What you think they were for?
where you think the debris is from..from Kaimuki area, You can clean ala wai with your eco balls..but you not stopping the trash from before the ala wai....
Not to mention surfing in pollution. People get very sick. I did. Staphylococcus. Twice.😢
How long have those two been here? It stormed ma uka and this is what happens ma kai.
