What to expect from Avowed (Obsidian's New RPG)

- This is speculation but I think it's accurate. These games are really all so similar, I don't see them deviating from the formula. It's not a bad formula, but the combat could use a facelift.
Hopefully they (Obsidian) stay somewhat true to their roots like Larian did and don't totally bail on the RPG mechanics. I'm not expecting BG3 levels of depth but I really hope that it's not like Fallout 4 or Starfield. Pillars is such a cool game it would be a shame if they butcher it. But I'm hopeful. The outer worlds was pretty cool and they have a lot more experience in the fantasy setting.

great video, i think tyranny is one of the best classic rpg's out there and not many people know about it.

And thats a game from obsidian, outerworld is also from obsidian, u knwo the trick, is better than starfield, because obsidian know how to make a world be alive, jesus if fallout 5 or tes6 doesnt involve obsidian we are fukt.

bayonetta was a cancer to the game industry according to anita sarkeesian i dont care about her name, she made bayo2 unavailable for pc or ps or xbox because "verey sexualized" and in bayo3, the guy just literally made a porn waifu and left the studio

Id expect this game to have SOLID rpg mechanics and features. Like with Fallout New Vegas, even if the actual gameplay &/or graphics itself needs some work im happy to wait for the modding community to make patches

people nowdays think BG3 is the STANDARD of RPGS, WRONG, bg3 to start is not even dub to all th other languags, mass efect 1 was at least subtitled, but at least me1 didnt had t he solid 60 price tag forever

Damn someone is salty about the succes of BG3. If turn based isn't for you that's fine, but in terms of story and player choice? Best game ever made.

I read something from one of the devs or maybe the director of the first game where he was saying they didn’t know how to proceed after Deadfire because it didn’t do as well as they’d hoped. Maybe if this game does really well pillars 3 could happen 🤷♂️

After the disappointment that was the Outer Worlds, Obsidian is just a once well meaning name, now hijacked by subpar people like most modern game developers.
Without Avellone, they lost their soul.

My guy that combat actually looks pretty good for a First person rpg game like skyrim. I think it clearly looks miles more interactive than skyrims combat was. It won't be anything near as interactive as something like elden rings combat system. But thats what you lose when you do a first person RPG instead of a third person RPG. Theres pros and cons. First person can make the world more immersive. But can be difficult to build a fun sword combat system around. Stuff like dodging is much harder to implement in a comfortable way in first person. Hopefully the world building and story will make up for what will likely be a mediocre to OK combat system.
I don’t know about miles, it does look a little more engaging than Skyrim but that’s not saying much and I just don’t expect it to be great. But you’re right, that is typically one of the trade offs with these games
