Carroll was so emotive in the original scene that he dropped his accent. He sounded Irish in that moment. Whether or not it was deliberate was irrelevant, it was during the Troubles in Belfast and his Irish accent gave the scene a resonance that I remember to this very day. Suddenly for that moment, it wasn’t acting, it wasn’t a sitcom. It felt like Carroll O’Connor talking about the war in Northern Ireland. It felt very real. 😰
Kevin Bacon recreated his character extremely well. He had the same mannerisms, facial expressions, and voice intonations as the original actor. He 100% became that character.

I’m sorry it was a good effort I guess but nothing comes close to the original
I think the reason why this doesn't work for me is, as good of an actor Woody is, it's like he's parodying Carroll O'Connor. Also, it doesn't feel as relevant. Sure, I was born long after All in the Family went off the air, but, I always understood the importance of and impact this moment had on the original series. Not everything can be remade.
Wow
Almost as powerful as the original
Dam that was gold😢
Why rehash the old stories from the 70's? They should've tried coming up with new stories unrelated to the original series.
Meathead nailed it besides Woody...who got it right this time.
When this originally aired with Carroll O Connor was better
NO SHIT?
Harrelson is older than O'Connor when he played this role. Harrelson looks soft, O'Connor looked as though he lived the blue-collar life.
As much as I love Woody Harrelson, this just doesn't feel right. Carroll O Connor had a gentleness about him, even with his bigoted comments. I love Marisa Tomei as well. As much as she tries to inhabit the role of Edith, she's still smokin hot. This isn't working for me.
Love All in the Family... but... all I see are actors doing their impression of Archie and Edith. I’m disappointed. I would’ve liked to see a newer take on the characters, and not an impression
yeah, it's horrifically bad.
WOODY NAILS IT!
