Hello Matt I am from Germany, Been watching your videos for quite a while now and am fascinated by the insights you give your audience and showing us the world as professional soccer player with all its positiv and negativ aspects. I am also thrilled by your passion for what you are doing on the pitch and off of it and for your tremendous willingness to increase your skills even in a later stage of your carrer. Keep up the good work I am definetely learning alot by your videos and will keep watching. Just a tip on your cut ins: First and foremost I think it will give your stil of play a new facette since you are more and more willing to go for the goal yourself even as an left or rightback (or outside winger). From experience I know these variations are key to stand out in your role and not beeing narrowed down to beeing a one trick pony who only brings in the crosses. I saw that you sometimes after the fakeshot and the small forward pass hit the ground with your shooting foot before the last preparing step, which leeds to a slightly off positioning of your standing foot when shooting, less curling of the ball and it looks more like you are trying to catch the ball in time and also put too much force in the shot itself which makes them unprecise (14:11). In 9:54 and 14:22 you are doing more of a forward leap with the force coming more from your outside/standing leg/foot which seemingly gives you more controll and confidence in the shot and a better outcome. I know it is hart in realtime, will be even harder with a defender involved and its just a small detail, but sometimes the little things make the largest impacts. Keep up the great work was just thinking to drop a comment after enjoing your videos for so long without contributing. Also greetings to Scarlet and Mimi Happy Christmas ;-)
I have a small group of guys ( 3 of us, sometimes 2) we've been putting in some work. Our sessions aren't much different from yours. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, THE RESULTS WILL SHOW!
Q/A…..Hey Matt love the off-season series Did you ever fall out of love for the game or burn out and what did you do to get yourself working hard and loving the game again
Hello Matt, first of all I wanted to say that you are a very big inspiration for me as a football player and I absolutely love your videos. I wanted to ask if you think I could start my professional football career in the US after moving from India (not yet but in the future). I'm a huge fan of yours and have watched all of your videos. I also love watching your offseason/training videos. I hope you can answer my question since I am eager to know the answer because of my dream to go pro in football. Much love and hope to see you playing in bigger and better leagues in the future!
How do you keep improving when you already really good at football, academy level and everything. But want to keep getting better, how do you keep getting that 1% and keep stacking up more qualities etc. Feels like the better you get the harder it is to improve. Good to great, great to God
Love the video! I'm curious if your field was public or private. I'm in PDX but closest field is Grant HS and they re doing turf currently. So I'm looking for new places for my individual sessions. Care to share? Can be vague hints if that's preference. Thanks again! Love the channel!
Hey Matt , you keep saying that if you had started early you would have been much better footballer But I just want to know , even by starting late , to what extent you have improved If you could please make a video highlighting the drastic changes that you have observed in your game by consistent practice ,it would be really helpful and motivating at same time ,Thanks
A quick question to you Matt or anyone else more qualified to give their opinion. When you are doing these repetition passes against the wall, what are you concentrating on (maybe elaborate on it further next time)? Just noticed that you didn't pretty much check your shoulder or your surroundings at all during the exercise. If you previously mentioned that it's all about the repetiotion then during game moments these quick checks around the should before receiving and playing the ball should be in your DNA and that is in part developed through repetition. I, myself are nowhere near your level but have experienced that if you do not practice everything that you have to do during game situation in solo/smaller sessions then these skills are left undeveloped and will come to bite you further down the line. This is just meant as a question as to how you feel about this and how should maybe some younger ballers approach these repetitional sessions.
During the 90 Degree Wall Passing my entire focus is moving the ball as fast as I possibly can. I was going 100% for speed. With the pace that the ball is moving and how close I am to the walls there's no way you can actually do a realistic shoulder check. There are times where I slow up the pace of the ball or open up the drill to a larger scale and add more shoulder checks, but personally, I don't find it necessary to add in a check of the shoulder for every single wall passing drill especially these super tight, quick drills where the focus isn't on awareness, it's on perfecting touches and passes. As long as you have larger space drills in your weekly training regimen where you make an emphasis to work on checking your shoulder, then you'll still develop that good habit in my opinion.
@@BecomeElite Thank you for the reply and clarification! Hope the off-season goes well and much support for your next season from Estonia!! You’ve helped me grow as a player and I’ve used your videos to teach others as a coach. Keep up the good work!
I noticed that Matt’s eyes were on the ball. He was watching it right into the foot on both the pass and the reception. I saw a slow motion video of Sami Khedira a few years ago in a scrimmage making the same point, “watch the ball into the foot.” Also cool that you got a good answer from Matt in the comments here.
the 90 degree wall passes are great for center mids as it works on passing, control, turning, and switching direction of play. The shooting portion is probably more for wingers as the shots were coming from the corner of the 18, but shooting is shooting and is generally useful for any player participating in the attack. To identify what you want to work on, either you will know you want to enhance a current strength or work on a current weakness. You can talk to your coach(es) or your teammates to get opinions on what skills and see if there are things that align between what you think, your coach thinks and what your teammates think. For individual sessions, I think its good to mix in some general, all purpose drills, but then have a few specific things you're working on and incorporate them into the session. For instance, say that you and your coach want you to work on your 1 v 1 dribbling, then you would do that. Maybe its switching play, then maybe instead of 90 degree wall passes, get something you can put behind you and do 180 degree wall passes. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Good luck!
I'm a youth coach and have been organizing open, off-season workouts for players who are interested. We canceled last weekend due to snow/cold. It was only a half inch, but enough to negatively impact play and the pitch was beaten up during the season so the hard ground was like concrete under the snow. On a day like that, we just recommended that kids get some touches at home (wall pass on a couch or unfinished basement) or dribbling (in the house or in the garage). I needed up going to the YMCA with my son and a few of the boys who have family memberships and just having a kick around in the basketball courts since no one was there yet.
guys and matt also everytime i do a shorting drill the next day i am sore and i find out the i have specific parts in my body that are more sore than others even though i am training everyday intensively plus playing games but when i do shooting session maybe 30 shots or so next day im sore any help on this?
Most people are disfunctional so most relationships are also. You yourself know logically how to give your child a happy family home but yet you can't. Why because you're disfunctional too , your baby mama also. Men and women are disfunctional , the world has always been this way
14:25 absolutely bangrr

Where are these fields?! Im also in portland oregon

OGs know how Matt lost that one adidas ball during lockdown training at the parking lot 😂
Oh yeah
Matt did you ever find that ball?
Hello Matt, i have question gor the Q&A. What is your opinion on fascia training, which is becoming more and more popular on social media?
The ball skips like hell on freezing turf haha.
Love the video! I'm curious if your field was public or private. I'm in PDX but closest field is Grant HS and they re doing turf currently. So I'm looking for new places for my individual sessions. Care to share? Can be vague hints if that's preference. Thanks again! Love the channel!
That’s at the PCC Rock Creek Campus
Pcc that field is the worst. I always lose a ball
Your camera is clearer than my actual eyes
Great video! I do have a question, is there a way to improve my shooting without having access to a goal ?
Hey Matt what was the reason that you switched from striker to defender and when did that happen
Keep up the good work
lets do more dribbling drills next times yes
what are your thoughts on the adidas crazyfast.1 saw u wearing them last vid, im thinking of buying them, id like to hear your opinion on them
thanks

Portland newcomer here. Where is this field located??
Hi Matt! How did you develop shooting power like that?
Practice, practice, practice. 25 years of doing drills just like the one in this video 🙌🏼
What aspects of your game are u trying to improve based on last season
dont your soleplates rip up using abd fg on artificial grass?
Question , do you use reg firm ground boots when on the turf?
Where do you get your boots from
do you follow the F2 on RUclips??
Is this good for an attacking midfielder?

would you train inside if the pitch was completely frozen? Like worse than yours with snow and everything

If you or your team/club don’t clean the pitch train with your local futsal team. It’s not great but better than sitting on the couch
guys and matt also everytime i do a shorting drill the next day i am sore and i find out the i have specific parts in my body that are more sore than others even though i am training everyday intensively plus playing games but when i do shooting session maybe 30 shots or so next day im sore any help on this?
work on your recovery mate. else try to decrease the number shots per session.
3rd 💪🏾
