The 50s wedding dresses are so much prettier and figure-flattering compared to the bare shoulders/arms look of dresses these days. The generous drape of the fabric is lovely. Beautiful tailoring. Thanks for posting.
My parents married in 1957. In 1992 I wore my mother’s wedding dress for my wedding. In 1957 it cost $50 to buy. In 1992 it cost $50 to clean. After our wedding the lace & tulle started to crumble. It held up long enough for me to wear it.
What i love about the wedding dresses for around that time is they r modest. I had a terrible time 20 years ago finding a dress that didnt show something u didnt want to show. I did find a beautiful southern bell wedding gown with ruffles and bell sleeves. I paid more for it to be modest but i rather be modest than look sleezy. I just love these wedding dresses.
I’m actually very surprised to read your comment, because I found plenty of lovely, “modest” wedding gowns 20 years ago. I had an ivory satin one that resembled Jackie Kennedy’s, so I have no idea where you were shopping. 🛒
Donate it, it may be just what a new bride would be seeking. I donated my mothers dress many years ago and it sold within an hour of being put out. I knew one of the employees there.
All of them 10 times better than Princess Dianna's dress! The 90's had the most horrific fashion styles ever. Actually some of the dresses were gorgeous, some of them, not Dianna's, but the headpieces/veils were horrible!
Some of those dresses were so beautiful. I would say all of them are better than the new "naked" styles.
Gorgeous! I miss the days when sleeves were in style and wedding gowns didn't look like lingerie.
The 1950s had some of the best wedding gowns.
I agree!!!

I liked that they used different media: personal photos, professional photos, advertising, etc. Very interesting and quite lovely.
They were classy, not sleezy.
Not a see thru there
I enjoyed seeing all the beautiful dresses from yrs gone by!

Wedding dresses in the 50's were pretty!
Simplicity and yet so much elegance.

No Pnina Tornay here, with all the glitz and boobs hanging. These dresses are classy

The majority of the 50's wedding dresses were ballgowns that were still influenced by the 40's
You should change the music to 1950's music........
You’re right, I was having a hard time finding non-copyright 1950s music. I’ll keep looking. Thanks for watching.
A wonderful decade for bridal fashion (although there really are no 'bad' wedding fashions.)
80’s…bad
I have my mothers 1954 wedding gown. What should I do with it she’s been gone 16 years and it’s in her chest of drawers

There is an organization that makes burial gowns for still born children, and babies who die young…
lovely gowns, not so for the background music.

It is really possible to be beautiful even with no boobs and down parts out of the dress!
