Love these pictures from the 60’s! My parents stood for a cousin’s wedding in 1964. The bridesmaids had yellow short dresses. They had a fake yellow flower with a little veil on their heads. I thought it was so cool that the bridesmaids had veils too. I would take that headpiece from my mom’s closet and play bride with it.

A very respectable young lady ready to start a new life with the love of her life ! The wedding gowns weren’t expensive like nowadays, then in a year they’re getting divorced!

What I findthe most silly thing of brides today they have been living with their groom for several years, have a child together , and then do the whole Father give the Bride away. Once you have lived with and had a child you dont need anyone to give you away. Have your wedding celebration but at least walk yourself down the aisle . I just personally think it has become silly

User-Nonsense! A day most families can’t afford. A dress that costs a lot and is rarely if altered- worn again.
It’s unreal. Nothing to do with learning about each other.
Why would a daughter want to be ‘given away’?
It’s mostly about impressing the neighbours and status.
It’s the worn out traditions of other cultures. Most brides aren’t virgins any more.
That’s how untruthful it all is.
