If they can afford to overspend for a better phone experience for their own preference then what's wrong with that? Pocof1 is a great phone but you can not deny that it does cut corners on some aspects of the phone. Most notably its screen and no NFC. There are people who can afford to shell out 1000 bucks for phones that have the luxury to not cut corners (in their eyes) in any areas and that's okay.
Slap Google camera on the Poco or really any phone and it gets seriously competitive. My Mi6 is an absolute wash with the Pixel 2, plus I have the zoom lens! Great video covering the lot.
That is why I don't care about the pixel phones. The OnePlus phones(even though I think they are a bit overrated) are much better in my opinion especially in looks. I use the Pixel Experience in the Pocophone, now Pixel 3 value just don't make sense to me. With the same sensor, the only difference is software, and using the rom and GCam port. I felt grateful with 4000mah battery and 6gb of RAM although the screen is lackluster as to be expected.

For the average user this may well be the case, but by discussing custom ROMs and GCam port in a review video (not just in videos aimed at enthusiast crowds) I think it makes it clearer to the average consumer that they have options with their Android devices.

If you can get the pixel 3 for a discounted price like I and many people did then the pocophone makes less sense. Especially since the majority of people aren't comfortable flashing a new rom onto their phones. Also, Xiaomi makes little to no profit on their phones, it's all accessories that make them money. So unless North American smartphone manufacturers are willing to give up their high profit margins, nothing is going to change.
I think Pixel 3 is the most over rated phone, for me at least, but, as you are saying I would've bought it as well for a discounted price, 349 Eur. max.
The better low light photos on Pixel is not thanks to image stabilization. It's due to a dedicated chip for IA and improving photography. That's the only reason and (obviously) you can port that on a custom ROM. A Poco with OLED screen and stereo speakers would be a beast
@@dikshantchaubey1922 nah it wont have 855 , poco f1 came out ending of sd 845 era ,probably why cost is lower ,, with new chipset 855 , cost would be higher

My daughter had 2 different Motorola G phones as a teenager. Each was around $200 unlocked off contract. I always marvelled at how good they were. They felt nice in the hand, and worked well. The difference came down to reliability. She went through 2 Motorolas over 4 years during which time my other daughters had the same iPhone. I'm not saying cheaper phones are bad or not worth it, but by and large one kinda gets what they pay for.
Then there's people like me, who switch phones multiple times a year. Can't imagine using one phone for 4 years, that would get so boring. I did love my Moto G2 though.
People treat cheap phones badly as compared to iPhone that decreases their life... My father used HTC Explorer for 5 years (because the software got outdated long ago) until recently he bought another phone.. and guess what HTC Explorer still works perfectly...
Well yeah but most people don't do that. They want the shiny new thing. iPhone6 & iPhone X are great phones if you wanna keep it for 4+ years. But peeps like us change phones almost every years, hence the 1000$ price tag looks ridiculous to me.
Wonderful video. Yes, Just wish the screen was better and next time they can go for a glass like polycarbonate with gradient if that's possible like the vivo and oppo phones. It'll make it look much premium but still durable.
I find it amusing that all of the original vs pics when you're kinda trashing the pocophone's camera, I liked those pics better... felt like the pixel's pics dampened down the colors on everything... might be more color accurate, but not as appealing to the eye

Does it have L1 support? I read some forums that Xiaomi releases an update on poco that enables HD playback or L1 support. Do you have the time to check on it? Thanks.
To be fair, that’s a silly statement to make. Each frequency has limited bandwidth and capacity, no? If every carrier operated on a single band across the USA, think of how few customers could be effectively serviced, and how unreliable and selective the network would be. Looks at the US population, look at the diversity of network demands, look at the physical distance networks have to accommodate, and look at the prevalence of technology today. Yeah, using a few select bands just won’t work in a market like the US.
I'm seriously considering getting the pocophone right now. Currently have a Galaxy S6 that's empty within a few hours. I usually browse, watch some RUclips, use whapp and play a game or two (currently Dota Underlords... wich does not play nice with the S6). I also take some pics and videos every now and then... but I just can't spend the price of a 55'' TV or gaming PC on a phone...
I was thinking about getting a POCO F1, but then saw the new VIVO V15 PRO, and am drooling hoping some day I can afford it!! I wasted $150 & 2 months trying to get a useable LG V20 to upgrade my channel video quality, and ended up, after 4 exchanges of screen burned & defective devices, with a still severely screen burned & rapid battery loss V20!! It would save my life at this point to get a good, newer phone to unbox & review on my channel!! 💔💔💔
Couple of things you didn't mention were that the Pixel comes with 3 years worth of updates, for both the software version and security. I flash a lot of roms myself, but I can see why it might be worth it for someone who doesn't want to bother with that anymore. The Poco also lacks NFC and crucially for myself, widevine L1 certification that allows you to play Netflix and Amazon video on HD. I know these aren't that big of a deal, but it's the reason I'm using a Pixel 2XL over the Pocophone.
@@nathancalvario7454 Sure. Google has a built-in DRM solution for apps called Widevine. Each device has to be certified in order to play back protected content, which includes anything from Netflix or Amazon. RUclips is not included. Some manufacturers certify their devices as L1 (the highest, can play anything), while others only get L3, which allows only up to SD resolution playback. Devices get certified in the factory, and it cannot be added after unless the device is sent back to the manufacturer. This happened with the 5T. Xiaomi does not currently have their devices certified as L1, therefore you can't stream HD content on Netflix. Other manufacturers like Oneplus, Moto, Sony, Samsung (S and Note series only), HTC, and even Asus do. It's a point of annoyance among a subset of users at the moment.
@@jackiechoo so if all I do is watch RUclips videos in 1080p (which is supported by the pocophone?) I'll be fine ? I don't watch any thing on Netflix so I could careless and I don't use any NFC features.

I wouldn't have paid more than $25 for a screen upgrade, and there's no way an amoled screen is that cheap. (also no burn in as I intend to use this phone for the next 3-5 years) The only thing I don't like is the huge notch. But it's not a deal breaker I have LOS16 which has an option the hide the clock there's room for notification icons. I would've taken a version without IR face unlock as it adds ~50% to the notch size.
So far it seem like PocoFone is one of the best devices for which custom ROM supports are tremendous! And also even the stock ROM is regularly updated with consumer feedbacks. Truly amazing experience using the poco F1.
Custom roms give you a smooth experience. But the problem is you can use banking apps on the custom which is a huge trade off to me. If that works out well the lineage os is hands down best software you can get.

You can get a stock experience on other phones and get the Gcam mod for it. I am honestly think: why does Google still make these products? I am a Galaxy note fan though and the features and productivity is worth the extra cost to me and others as well who can afford it. Especially after it's price has dropped significantly. I am talking about the note 9.
Pretty much same thing as my Mi5s here... Same processor and sensor as the original Pixel, just a matter of install the GC app and boom!
Back when I got it I paid around the same Xiaomi is charging for the Poco today, but it was a brand-new Mi phone so a nice bang for the value!
I thought that too. But the pixel visual core is something else. You'll know when you use the pixel. It's out of the world Image processing.
Pixel camera hardware isn't good, it's the software that makes it the best.
Neil Robinson is it a hardware component?
I use the Pixel Experience in the Pocophone, now Pixel 3 value just don't make sense to me. With the same sensor, the only difference is software, and using the rom and GCam port. I felt grateful with 4000mah battery and 6gb of RAM although the screen is lackluster as to be expected.
I waited for the note 9s price to drop and it dropped significantly. Now I am saving up for one. To me, it is worth it's features and productivity. The pixel phones are really overpriced imo. Even me, an Android fan would take an iPhone over the pixel.
Though pixel is overpriced for the value it offers but the dedicated hardware for image processing makes it still the best point to shoot camera in the industry.. Just imagine the original pixel if ported camera from pixel takes so much better photos. 😂

Current state of Pixel experience rom demolishes LineageOS. You guys wont believe how god damm perfect it has become
It has even better overall signal quality while managing to be super clean and fully ported of pixel's features. We even have always on display which is a total gimmick for LCD, Now playing, digital well beeing, system wide dark mode etc
Should I put it on my Galaxy S7? Or is it more appropriate for newer cheaper phones like the Xiaomis, F1, One+ etc?
Just buy the pocophone. Put pixel experience ROM and then you get the Google camera too. Then it pretty much cleans the clock of the pixel
Or you can just get a ported pixel 3 camera apk and install it. I did this on my Pocophone since I don't mind MIUI.

Pixel experience is not that good on the Pocophone, lineage os is with rootless pixel launcher is the closest you can get the the "stock" rom

I really appreciate the style of this video. A lot of people reviewing phones are happy to just address the stock software as if that's the only way the phone can be used, never addressing how easy it is to tweak the phone the way they want.
For the average user this may well be the case, but by discussing custom ROMs and GCam port in a review video (not just in videos aimed at enthusiast crowds) I think it makes it clearer to the average consumer that they have options with their Android devices.
Just root it with pixel experience ROM, you would be blown out of water.,as Google camera comes built in,it would be a interesting video, making a review on pixel experience ROM

Great video! What Google Camera port did you use on the Pocophone?
In this video, lineageos is purely cosmetic. You don't need it to install Gcam, and if photography is what you're going for, you would loose the default camera app in the process. You'll loose stabilized video, time lapse, 960fps interpolated slo-motion, and more importantly the manual mode. By putting the phone on a flat Surface i actually got better results just cranking the iso and shutter speed up in very low light than night sight.

imagine pay 8.000,00 on a phone... In brazil the price is this... Just remember to NOT convert currency, because the salary of a worker is relative to the county..
So in Brazil the average salary of a worker is around R$ 10,00 to 12,00 per hour, but on USA or even Canada is around $ 40,00. So imagine....
In a month, workers on US could maybe buy 2 iPhone XS's, because they made around $ 2.500,0 monthly and the phone cost $1.000,00.
But on Brazil the average workers made around R$ 1.600,00, so he need to save money for half a year, because the phone cost almost 8k.
Just to make a point, on US you could buy a 12 MOTO G7 (for $200,00 each ) in a month, but on Brazil the same phone cost 1.5k, so a Brazilian can only pay for 1.
Is a INSANE difference!!!

@Snazzy Labs I doubt it does in fact fix the issue as I believe it had to do with hardware and not software, although I could be wrong. From what I recall there is something that prevents the phone from streaming in 1080p from some services like those I've mentioned.

It’s still quite a bit of sense. Even at the discounted rates, the Pixel 3 is double.

The better low light photos on Pixel is not thanks to image stabilization. It's due to a dedicated chip for IA and improving photography. That's the only reason and (obviously) you can port that on a custom ROM.

There is a port of the Pixel Camera GCAM app for Pocophone, even supports Night Sight. Google "Google Camera Port Hub" and grab a version for your phone. Doesn't need ROOT or custom rom for Pocophone.
All comes down the processors! The pocophone has the top notch one which would easily go more than 2 years
Then there's people like me, who switch phones multiple times a year.

If only the Poco phone had the lte Bands for the States.
who tf needs lte use ol fashion 4g
To be fair your country Uses too many bands. Really.
I'm kind of confused on the Netflix thing he was talking about in the video can you elaborate?
I know you explained it but I'm confused
