Also, Pocophone has the EXACT same primary camera sensor as the Pixel 3 XL. Yes, you read it right. It is the same Sony IMX363 sensor on both the devices. Even in Linus's photo comparison, can you really notice a difference other than the fact that Poco has better edge detection due to the secondary camera? Now cameras on phones are so good that even youtubers are unable to compare them easily, so when they talk about the pocophone they talk assuming that it must have a worse camera due to its lower price, and due to this bias, they always rate it lower than other phones. Go and check the photos yourself and you will be amazed.
About that... Does the google camera use the information from the second camera sensor? I mean I understand that the google camera is using googles algorithms to process the image, the pixel doesn't include a second sensor so it should be logical not to include optimizations from a second sensor in the code... Isn't it?

After years of using a Nexus 5, i just started to think about having a custom rom, and boom, LTT uploads a video about. I still have no idea how to do it, but that's my problem 😀
FYI IR Face Unlock works too since a few days on Lineage OS, thanks to the really amazing custom dev community with this phone... Basically ALL Hardware features are supported in LineageOS now(and other custom ROMs should follow soon [Open Source Rules]) so there's no downsite compared to miui except which features you prefer...
Surely Linus is aware you don't need to root to flash a custom ROM? In fact there was no point rooting before the ROM flash as it's wiped, probably doesn't need to root after the fact either, though no reason not to root either
@@dumbcrumb879 Rooted devices are a violation of many I/T departments. If want to access email or corporate resources on your phone or think you'll never need to, Don't root your device, or you'll need to buy a new one.

for a lot of people, including myself, the ADB minimal setup just doesn't work. gave me a lot of issues rooting my last two phones. I would recommend getting the Android SDK, even if it is bigger, to know for certain it will work. But if minimal works for you then that's cool.

ROMs tend to be not a problem check on XDevelopers for any news about these issues. You might run into a problem. Don't rush flashing yet. It's way to soon for that.
@stinckypotato well. It's android so you shouldn't have problem with that but since I'm not sure where you are, it could lead to some legal problems. If you root the phone and unlock the bootloader you should be able to at least flush the Gapps (go for the 64x, nano versions) ... But first make sure they are conceived for Opo7p... Again, I can't promise they will work so, to wait would be the wisest move. Best of lucks.

Clearly because of the killer value. This video is about the user experience, not performance benchmarks. Besides, not everyone will chose a pixel clone rom.
When essentially making the title: “making a $300 clone of a something that is 3-4x the price” sounds like the definition of click bait and I would’ve never viewed this video if the title wasn’t changed I don’t think...
Why the hell did you install magisk(root) before installing a rom? It's like installing Software on your crappy laptop windows version before installing a clean windows...
Also rooting your phone will sometimes prevent some apps from working correctly when they detect it and thinks it's to insecure. My bank app actually does this. If you start it ok a rooted phone it warns you that it's insecure and closes. If you don't need root, don't do it.
MidlifePanda Using Magisk actually helps this, custom roms don't pass google CTS, due to the unlocked bootloader. Using magisk masks the bootloader unlock status as well as itself to ensure the device passes CTS and Safetynet, allowing installation and use of apps that disallow use while using a device with custom software.

I'm really glad you did a custom Android ROM reflashing video, particularly a Lineage OS one. TWRP Recovery via Magisk route was same quick and shockingly easy procedure I did. And LOS 15.1 (Oreo) is probably the most dramatic upgrade for my 6 year old smartphone stuck on Lollipop OTA, even though it was dirty (no partition wipes like you included). And I previously thought it was already useless due to flash storage degradation causing huge lags. I went with paranoid/frugal microG over Open GApps to cut down on battery and background process consumption, though the next time around, I'll go for the nano package, as you also recommended. But overall, I'd say it has removed my lust for a flagship phone significantly! (hmm, killing the purchase case for the Pocophone F1 here..)
@@daemakun I would buy a new phone atleast because of battery, both nexus 4 and 5 have shit batteries. New phones have more efficient chips and bigger batteries, it doesn't have to be flagship obv.
@@iusewindowsbtw3420 True that. My eyes are on a 5-yr old hand down 'upgrade' for its 3Ah battery. My point is that battery sipping microG and more efficient performance extends its charge runtime without having to swap to a newer battery or upgrading hardware. I run it almost exclusively on extreme battery saver mode, which plays 60 fps video and operates smoothly, despite a ~40% performance hit. Previously, it could not. Less usage goes to the OS and a larger portion goes to the screen and bluetooth, if using that. Non-negotiable emission consumptions can't get more efficient.

@@kosalchannseng8084 in general is very fucking good. i am using everything, including the pixel 3 aspect. it is fast and photos are good. Need to keep up with the updates of google camera. the app sometimes have bugs and crashes, but it is a minimal problem
I had that feeling too, especially in an era in which hardware doesn't matter to much as most phones come with fast processors. Software has become the main differentiator, and a custom rom can help to get so much more out of your phone. It is cool that people review phones out of the box, but I think it is more interesting to see what devices are truly capable with a little effort. I have a Poco too btw so I love to see this.
I know custom roms and mods aren't for everyone but over the years my love for it has just become stronger. At this point I refuse to use stock software (even stock Android/Aosp), I've tried to get back on stock ROM but I just come back after a day to my prefered ROM and mods. I wish more people get to know about it and it's awesomeness.
i love lineage. oem roms just can't compete. now if only good bl unlock and lineage would come to the find x so i can get away from the shitty iOS clone included by default
Now its essential to flash magisk or ksu, cause google is now randomly banning FPs on bl unlocked devices, so banking apps might stop working if they ban yours (yep even if you dont flash magisk), so there are magisk modules that downloads new fps (also with app which is inside play curl) and shamiko which doesn't let bank apps detect root
If you're following this guide, you should already have Magisk installed. If you go to the Magisk manager, down the Pix3lify add-on and flash it. That will enable lots of the pixel 3's advanced features like Call Screening, Gestures, Flip to Shhh, Digital Wellbeing, Daydream VR, Pixel sounds, Google Dialer, Camera2 API support and more.
Well they could avoid that by locking the bootloader like huawei. So it is intended by xiaomi to flash custom roms, because it increases the time somebody uses their phones.
@@swagar they should modified and/or add their services on top of Qualcomm's hardware,Qboot or qti then, which will get them nothing but a guaranteed lawsuit. @@stardustb390 Right, but the bootloader and any other architecture lower level than the kernel and OS are usually left intact. I haven't touched a Opo7p yet so I can't tell for sure if they would be compatible of not, but You should be careful with the kernel compatibility and the band you install.
If you don't need root, don't do it.
MidlifePanda Using Magisk actually helps this, custom roms don't pass google CTS, due to the unlocked bootloader. And LOS 15.1 (Oreo) is probably the most dramatic upgrade for my 6 year old smartphone stuck on Lollipop OTA, even though it was dirty (no partition wipes like you included). And I previously thought it was already useless due to flash storage degradation causing huge lags. After 4 years I realized that there is a mistake in this video. You don't need to root before installing a ROM neither flashing DFE.
