I think the best advice to give to Rob before Reach is to be moving a lot more, as I think the reason why he's having so much difficulty aside from being new to video games is that he's standing still a lot. This will probably be even more crucial in Reach due to the insane amount of Brute chieftans, Elite ultras and Hunters, not to mention that regular Elites have a broken one-shot un-dodgeable melee ability they constantly spam on higher difficulties. Just a bit of advice though.
33:57 There was a movie adaptation of Halo CE directed by Peter Jackson and written by Alex Garland of 28 Days Later fame in development around 2005, but it was scrapped because I think Peter Jackson was also working on King Kong 05 at the same time. However, the ODST suits, Covie carbine prop and a fully functioning Warthog were re-used for Halo Landfall and Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.
The rookie's real name is Jonathan Doherty and that was revealed in a reference book of all things. Don't let Rob see this part because spoilers for the audio logs and Halo 5, but I think Quick To Adjust/ Vergil and Sadie lived on Luna (Earth's moon) until Quick To Adjust/ Vergil (whatever you want to call him) was recruited into a mission by the ODST squad, now Spartans, during the Created uprising. And finally, the in-universe reason for the rookie never speaking in ODST is because he either has no-one to talk to or he keeps getting cut off.
Its hilarious that the in-universe reason for why he doesn't speak is that everyone keeps cutting him off before he has the chance. Dare cutting him off after asking for his name was definitely one of the most clear examples
Congratz on beating ODST, it was a wild ride for sure. It was the game where Rob learned both to respect and hate Hunters at the same time, not to mention those pesky Chieftains. Sergeant Johnson was actually a playable character in the 360 version of the game, in firefight. He was only available as a pre-order bonus, which I am to this day still kicking myself for not getting. Not sure if he is around for the MCC firefight. My mind and body is ready for Reach, Rob will love it. Much like Serge, Reach is the Halo game I spent the most time on (multiplayer), played it from 2 days before official release date (pre-order came in early for some reason) and I remember getting messages from friends on Xbox asking me how I got to play so early. Played Reach until about 2014, managed to get to Reclaimer (could not be arsed with the last 2 000 000 credits needed for Inheritor rank). The clan community on Reach was amazing and I still miss it to this day. It had that weird mix of overly invested lore-nerds who role-played Spartans and then people who just liked the game. 360 was just prime gaming. I remember Rob asking way back what multiplayer in Halo would look like, and unless you have something specific in mind, I would be honored if you showed him one of my recorded games from back in the day. Put up a few on RUclips, years ago, for posterity. I won't shamelessly self-advertise the channel name, so just reply if interested. Yes, the Chieftains will always remain in his memory from now on haha Reach holds so many memories for me. I was part of the clan community as well, with the main clan I spent the most time with being started in 2015 and still active to this day. I could not be bothered either to reach Inheritor lol And yes, feel free to link us some of the videos! I have been wondering about a good way to show him what the multiplayer experience is like and it might be a cool way :)

Frag grenade?
Rob was much more coordinated than the previous runs, impressive! Make sure he customizes his multiplayer character for Reach, I certainly never regretted it!
