  • Knowing how to correctly yield is an important driving skill that helps prevent accidents at intersections. In this video, our driving instructor Jacqueline will explain the proper way to yield when making a right turn.
    We will demonstrate the proper way to look for oncoming traffic and pedestrians before making a turn. Then show you how to slow down or stop if necessary to allow other vehicles or pedestrians to pass before proceeding with your turn. Finally, we will provide tips for staying alert and aware of your surroundings while driving, as well as the importance of following traffic laws to ensure the safety of yourself and others on the road. By following these steps, you can confidently and safely yield for a right turn at an intersection.

    I just had an incident with a driver instructor that sped up and blocked me from merging from my merge lane that had a yield sign at the corner and then brake checked me. He said he did that because I had to come to a complete stop at the yield sign. I said I don't have to stop and wait for him to pass I have to let him go of we were going to be at the same place at the same time he pulled out his sign book and pointed out a yield sign next to 2 stop signs "yield you must come to complete stop" I said "No! theses are only yield signs you MUST stop for STOP signs"
    The light just turned red in my direction of travel before I made the right turn there were no people or cars when I made the turn he floored it to catch me from a standing stop at the light because he noticed I hadn't stopped for the yield sign.

    At the right turn with a stop , do you want to check for bikes before the corner so you can take the lane and have bikes stop behind you?

    • @Zutobi_US
      @Zutobi_US  Год назад +1

      Thanks for your question! 🙂 At a right turn with a stop you check the bike lane after you out on your right turn signal, before you start to curve right as you approach the stop, then you check for bikes again, after you stop/before you go, to make sure no bikes slipped up beside you while you were stopped 🚙 ✌

    Don't fight for your right of way - give if you need to avoid a colllision.

    Hi, in an unmarked intersection that is 4way, how do you proceed? Does anyone have right of way if 2 cars reach at the same time? Or is it treated as a 4 way stop?

    • @Zutobi_US
      @Zutobi_US  Год назад +3

      In an unmarked 4-way intersection, it is treated as a 4-way stop. The general rule is that the first car to come to a complete stop has the right of way. If two cars reach the intersection simultaneously, the vehicle on the right has the right of way. Remember to yield to any pedestrians or other vehicles already in the intersection.

    Hi, in a 4 way intersection with a dedicated right turn slip lane, the signal lights are down, so they put a 4 way stop, if im turning right in a dedicated right turn slip lane, should i make a full stop? Or continue rolling and follow the yield sign? Anyone please answer.

      This is what I am also interested to know, say for example in the video at 0:35, if the light was red would you stop before the pedestrian and then move or just move on without stopping if it is safe to move on ?

    • @Zutobi_US
      @Zutobi_US  Год назад +2

      Thanks for your question! 🙂 4way intersection, If right turn lane is normally regulated by a light, then the right turn lane makes full stop when light is down. Full stop and then turn when safe 🚙
      If the right lane is normally regulated as a yield, driver follows the yield and does not have to stop at the 4-way, but driver should be even more cautious because lights are down - yield right turning driver should always be prepared to yield and on the lookout 👀

    @3:33, I like to explain to students that a stop sign magically turns into a yield after a full stop has been made.

    What if that right turn had a green light? Do they still yield to a left turn with a flashing yellow?

    • @Zutobi_US
      @Zutobi_US  9 месяцев назад

      Yes, even if the right turn has a green light, they still need to yield to a left turn with a flashing yellow. The left turn vehicle has the right of way in this situation. It's important to always exercise caution and yield to oncoming traffic when making a turn.
