PANTHRO was my favorite THUNDERCAT. Great figure, however I think Super 7 made a big blunder by including two sets of gripping hands instead of fists and karate chopping hands because he obviously uses martial arts on the show. Not a deal breaker, but a missed opportunity by Super 7.
I don't know how they get so much wrong.
Im thinking that rather than the fists they were planing on giving the figures (Panthro and Lion-O) a pair of gripping hands with the vertical hinge and a pair with the horizontal hinge and somehow that got screwed up and ended up just putting 2 of the same in the package
That's right. The hands were supposed to have different types of hinges. Now Lion-o will not be able to raise his sword.
I've got one on order (after selling all the Mattel ones) but the fact these took a year and there's a mistake on the shorts is pretty bad on Super7.
Update 7th Sept: I'm happy that Super7 have addressed this issue but I am anxious to perform the operation on Panthro.

Have you noticed the welding gun or the detonator in any episodes of the show? I’ve found him using the wrench and the goggles, but not those.

Super disappointed with Panthro. I really regret selling off my Mattel one. Super7 really made some substantial mistakes here. It kind of bums me out.
Gotta go with Mattel for this one. If I had both, I'd probably just swap the harnesses for the crisper logo. Not a fan of the Mumm-ra colour change either. So far only Lion-o is tempting me to swap out my Mattel version, but even then it's only because I want the cartoon claw shield.
In the interview Sabastiaan from ThunderCats.Org did with Brian Flynn, Brian claims they "listen to the fans".
So, since you're clearly in Brian's ear, let me be clear here: tell him to use animation cels to get accurate colors from, and the model sheets to check accuracy. This isn't worth $50. He could've just made an add-on pack for the Mattel version and saved everyone irritation on this pointless and inaccurate attempt.
Don't listen. I showed them the Mattel figures issues before they produced and we were talking about it everywhere. I never thought they would use the same Mattel old tooling.

They listen. As an accuracy nut, it hurts to say, but it's not Brian painting the figures. You can give a set of instructions to someone speaking a different language making 40 cents a day and they do 95% of the job, and something still may get missed by someone else doing spot checks. Welcome to the toy industry. No one person shepherds the process 100% of the way. If anyone think Mattel's were stellar, then they have a very short term memory.
I hate this too. I may see if I can get the trunks off of the Mattel one and transplant it onto the S7 one.
@@Twin2Jr You'll have to crack open his chest cavity to do so due to how they're engineered. And I personally don't buy that Brian's reach is so limited that they not only repeat the mistakes of the first line: but make it WORSE.

Not a fan of the alternate face here. Looks more like a "who farted" expression.
I have this figure, and I’m okay with the not so accurate trunks..It’s not a deal breaker for me. And it does make the blue belt POP more.
well... i dont want to sound bitter and i did not order this one, but on top of all the mistakes that have been mentioned, on the S7 you can see the middle line that unites arms and legs 08:25... thats poor quality. I just hope Super7 listen to the fans, and fix this issues, please don´t mess up Munra, Cheetara and the rest of the line. I know that you show us prototypes, but they are way better than the actual figure. Plus this toys are not cheep and are supposed to be ULTIMATES, a lot of people are making an effort to buy your toys, don´t mess up.
Good review. For some reason Mattel & S7 don't quite have down how to make forearms & hinged hands. The gap between the wrist & hand really stands out to me. The extra accessories are cool but I would much rather get a better articulated figure for the price we're paying. Not every release has to be an "Ultimate".

Im looking at my Panthro mattel right now, about similar like mentioned in the review, I prefer mattel's though...but Id still get this S7, than pay double the price for the mattel figure if Ive missed Panthro...I would never skip on a core character...
I’d never noticed that the palms of the mattel figure were painted and to be honest until you pointed it out I didn’t notice the trunks are the wrong colour.
watching these videos really really hurt..they truly do...😢 will i ever get mine?
Good review, fair judgment on the figure.
-Things I think were improved: the darker shade of gray for skin tone, the better paint design on the main head sculp, the sharper-looking belt logo, the greater range of tools and accessories specific to Panthro's character
-The disappointments: inaccurate trunk color(!), figure is too tall, the "spinning" chucks are still not molded correctly (the chain/handle ratio is wrong, the "ghosted" handles are too defined/static, and the plastic still looks too soft which interferes with the intended effect).
Such a frustrating mix of successes and failures. So far, we don't seem to be getting figures that scale with the cost. Super7 has got to try harder on the next wave, otherwise I can't stick around.

I’m not convinced with his eyes paint apps, so far I’m getting all the other figures but I’m keeping this one from Matty.
I think the face paint looks a lot better. I always thought the old one looked too goopy or something.
This is the one I missed by Mattel, so looking forward to him the most!!
Being honest I still thinking the MATTEL one is better. The big eyes are accurate to the cartoons, I like the cat’s symbol more crispy and the accessories plus the box looks fine but comparing the MOTU FILMATION we can notice the plastic difference
He looks like Skinner from the X Files. Looks cool but $40 for this figure is outrageous.

Why do super 7 keep making double gripping hands ? Id like to see a fist ,pointing or open hand ....dosnt make sense ... like the mattel Lion-o .. he had double left gripping hand ...but the clawshield fits on that hand ? I dont get the reasoning for it . Surely someone at super 7 must think ....'hold on ...why are we doing this ?'

on the extra hands the thumbs are different. one is more of a thumbs up and the is more of a fist

I'm just disappointed with the possibility honestly I wish they would have tooled it better they sure as heck had time with this plus with the added cost I expected better 🤷♂️. Just my opinion though it's not an ultimate in my eyes . It's nice though that's for sure .I like the Mattel version better but I like the thundercats logo better on the super 7 .Also I hope they fix his thunder panties and get the right color . Never seen such a stiff kitty 🤷♂️😂😂

Very disappointed in the line so far. They had so much to work off. It's not like these are new designs. The mistakes are unacceptable. Don't understand how they managed to make the figures look less accurate and the duplicate hands is ridiculous. They're still ok but left a bad taste in my mouth for Super7.
If they can pull off the new figures like Cheetara and Tygra then I can give them a pass on this crap.

The face detail is better on the s7.
While I like the darker gray, the Matty lighter gray works better with the off-white paint as a more natural contrast.
The ear paint is better in the Matty, but the s7 ear shape is better.
The s7 chest abdomen sculpt is slightly better.
The hands appear light on s7.
The shorts are the wrong color and hopefully that's just on your figure, because it's pretty obvious and how s7 could miss it would be baffling.
I like the darker blue of the belt but it just throws the shorts error into higher relief.
I think there is one other glaring issue but I need to go check my figs to be sure.
@unclassified allow me to phrase more clearly for the pedantic. The paint on the s7 makes the sculpt stand out slightly better. But honestly, could just be the lighting. I'll wait till I have it in hand and do my own comparison.
Super7 crancking out overpriced plastic as usual. I wonder if you would be so positieve about these if you didn't get them for free. It's easy to think bad paint, low quality plastic and weak sculpts aren't a big deal if it didn't cost you any of your hard earned cash.

I don't understand why toy companies make the chain so long on nunchucks. It never looks right. Have they not seen real ones? Or a movie? They only need a few links smh 🤦🏽♂️

I am guessing most of the negative comments made on here wouldn't be made if you didn't have the Mattel fig to compare to..let's wait till we have it in hand maybe? Both versions have their pro's and cons..all in all these two incarnations imo are by far the best we've ever gotten!

Dang. It’s almost like a cheaply, upmarked bootleg of the Mattel. The offset eyes, color discrepancies and overall qc/low-grade plastic shouldn’t be given a pass at $50, let alone $20. Disappointing to say the least

Pass for me. At least the Mattel Panthro face looks closer to the character. The super 7 Panthro face looks nothing like Panthro. Actually, none of the Thundercats actually look like the characters in the cartoon, they all seem to carry that general face syndrome. Neca should do this line like they are doing with Tmnt.

@unclassified Double-jointed (hyper-mobility) people make up roughly 20% of the world's population. The rest of us have "normal" joints - just like this action action figures.

Has anyone been notified yet by BBTS that their orders are ready for ThunderCats and TMNT Ultimates wave 1?
Not yet but I know Lion-o and Panthro should be coming this month according to BBTS
@Robd1 replies Yeah I seem to get that impression. Collectors on various forums have been commenting that BBTS fulfilling their pre-orders of various different series has been very slow.
BBTS is great at shipping their stuff safely and also having the option of the "pile of loot" but pre ordering from them is knowing you will get those collectible after everyone else 😖 it sucks...
@@kingjames0574 I don't mind waiting, I just hope they fill my pre-orders. Or maybe not? Haha I don't know at this point, seeing how these wave one figures have turned out. Only one I am liking so far is Mr Mummy.

@@JG-DX Mattels line wasnt bad it just had poor quality control and bad accessory designs (for Lion-o). If they cleaned up their quality it could've been great

Man, the proportions on these guys are awful. I mean, they did such a great job on the TMNT line with updated sculpts that are still reminiscent of the old toys. Why didn’t they do the same with Thundercats. Updated sculpts, better proportions but still stylistically going back to the old stuff. But no, they just remade the old stuff, and it looks just as bad.

Panthros face is messed up but again didn't say anything. Hole in chin etc
it is not that bad, but the area between his top lip and nose on the extra head is horrible. It looks like the paint is chipping away.
The "hole" in the chin was also on the Mattel figure and it's the figure's attempt at imitating the slight indentation in Panthro's chin from the cartoon, so why would he mention it? Otherwise, he brings up the differences in headsculpt paint between the figures during the comparison.

For the love of God DITCH THE BLINDING ORANGE BACKGROUND!!! When looking closely for differences between figures it is extremely distracting and actually makes paint on the figures look off. Why in the world you'd choose such a color for reviews is beyond me. Yes, I'm aware you're room is this color. Congratulations. But it's ruining your reviews.

Super 7 cares so little about their figures they can't even be bothered to send you a good quality review sample. This figure looks like crap. and what's even worse is that the Mattel one yet again looks better then the S7 one 50 bucks for this garbage? Wtf is Brian Flynn doing man?

I've watched many of his videos and like Pixel-Dan you have to watch a lot of reviews to get what type of reviewer they are. I like Pixel-Dan but he never says anything harsh or too critical which is fine. So when I watch him now I know what I'm getting.
Since these are the first reviews of these figures I'm going to watch them. I've been a long time subscriber to his channel and have been disappointed at his recent reviews. Maybe he will listen to his audience or maybe he won't but I don't believe in just unsubscribing because I disagree with him. That seems rather childish.
And again, a disappointing figure and a disappointing review. You don't sound very honest with these S7 reviews, bro.
It's almost as if you can dislike something and I can like something. Weird. This figure isn't perfect, and I point out the negatives to me. Simple as that.
