My biggest issue is with the "soft" headsculpt. Literally night and day from the prototype. It's like they took the old LJN head and reused it. It just looks very rounded and soft compared to the prototype. Overall a disappointing figure. Super 7 figures always look very cheap and have tons of issues...for the price, they shouldn't.

It seems like, more often than not, there's been at least one issue with just about every one of the figures in this line. It's disappointing because unlike with other toy properties, we aren't exactly spoiled for choice. Rather, it's been a take-it-or-leave-it kind of proposition and that really stinks.
I totally agree with you. I have mix feellings about my experience with Super7, some of figures i have bougth are awesome, but there is always something, loose joints, scratches, bad paint. i just got my 4 TMNT and Leo came with his belt broken, after 10 months of waiting and international shipping cost. I mean, this take-it-or-leave-it actitude that you address its very true, prototypes are awesome but final figures are a gamble, you never know what you are gonna get. Also this pre order system generates big expectations but often big dissapointments. I just cancel my Tygra from BBTS :( and i really wanted this figure, but now i think they will probably release a new version fixing the problems and i dont want to buy another Tygra, that is taking advantage of the costumers.
@@rthomero I'm sorry to hear that man. I really want some good-quality ThunderCats figures and I'm very intrigued by these, especially when we have no idea what else we'll be getting in the future and by whom, if we even get anything at all. But these carry adult collectible prices and I'm not sure we're getting that kind of quality.
Reminds me a bit of Ed Mcguinness' rendition of the character from the Wildstorm comics.
Tygra has the most coolest barefeets
My biggest gripe for this is his missing elbow pad/strap. I really hope S7 fixes this somehow. My only other complaint is I wish the center color of his face was more pale to match his hands better. It seems too saturated in the reviews and pics I've seen. The rest of the coloring and weirdly painted abs I can get over. But the elbow and face are a big disappointment.

Great review, nice to finally have a Tygra but Super bummed to see the issues. The armband is a glaring omission, the hand color difference is very noticeable, the ab spray looks like dirt and I personally would prefer the bluer color. While still a decent figure and arguably the best Tygra out there I don’t think he’s quite deserving of the ‘ultimates’ title given the issues. He’ll do the job but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed.

The color doesn't bug me, but the missing elbow pad does. Super7 should find a way to get one out there somehow. People didn't like the sais that came with Raphael, so they're including new ones with the Mousers. They should do something similar here.
yes absolutely, i am so agree with you!! Mister Brian Flynn needs to speak out about Tygra elbow pad and Grune visible ugly hips connections, the solution is a booster pack with extra heads to Tygra and Pummyra with glowing eyes and a way to fix the missing elbow pad and a bigger trunks for Grune like Super7 did with Panthros trunks with the right color!! I AM IMPRESSED reading so many complaints on IG about both issues but Brian Flynn keeps in silence!

The missing elbow pad is inexcusable, but I am looking forward to finally getting this figure and hope the previously mentioned issue is addressed in an upcoming booster pack. The saturated orange "skin tone" is growing on me although ideally it would look better if it was dialed back a bit. Also, the facial likeness works for me especially on the primary head. That more serious "snarling" expression is okay, but Tygra always came off as the chill and calm veteran of the group so the main head represents the character better in my opinion.
Even as a kid Tygra's attire color always baffled me. I used to draw the characters based on the show and never knew the right colors to use for Tygra as they seemed to change every episode. Personally, I always preferred the more teal look over the blue one, but that debate will always come down to personal preference. A more posable whip with a wire frame would have been nice as well like you mentioned.
Again, not a perfect figure by any means, but one that I am excited about finally adding to my collection. The absence of the elbow pad needs to be addressed. Part of me also fully understands it is very hard not to factor in the 2+ year wait time for these figures when critiquing them.
In the episodes, I thought that Tygra's attire looked grey most of the time. Someone needs to get on to Brian about that elbow pad. It would be fantastic if we could get an extra Tygra and Lion-O head with glowing eyes as a bonus. That would be a good booster pack.

I'm glad they went with this color scheme because there's a lot of blue tones on Panthro and Lion-O that I think Tygra would blend in too much and look a little lost in all the blues. This color scheme breaks it up and they all stand out nicely IMO. I'm happy with what I see in this video. Very cool.
Exactly you're spot on Tygra's outfit varied on the animation probly was each artist veiw point on color, He wore both the greenish color and the blue and it blend well but did vary. Mumm Ra's skin tone was the same it varied with greys,green and some times a tint of blue it really depend on the episode so I'm ok with these figures I can custom my colors if I have an issue.

First off, I'm going to apologize for how long this comment is going to be. And, I need to say thank you to you, because while I must say I'm still not happy about it... I do feel much, much better about this figure after watching your fantastic and honest review. When I first saw pictures on social media of the figure in hand, I lost it, I had a mini breakdown because like you, Tygra is my favorite Thundercat and also like you, I've been waiting over 2 years to actually get this figure. So when I saw pictures of what looked to be a very scaled down and very different figure from what we've been shown, along with some very obvious QC issues, I was ready to be done with this line and with Super7. You've really helped me feel better here, because not only does your figure look better than the one I saw first, you also agree with me when it comes to the problems with the figure, which helps me feel justified in my opinion. Of course, I need to relax and just wait to actually get my figure in hand before I make any decisions about my future as a Super7 supporter. When it comes down to it, there are no excuses for any of these problems after this figure has been delayed for over a year. To me, the figure looks too glossy/shiny and it has an almost cheap, knockoff kind of look to it. He also doesn't seem to match up to Lion-O and Panthro aestically, which you explained why perfectly in your review. I do not like how the face sculpts look, I think the prototypes/pictures all looked much better,, the growling face especially looks very off and unappealing. I also think the orange looks too dark/almost red and the "flesh-tone" looks too yellow, although, like you said, against your orange background it actually looks pretty good. I agree that the weird paint on the abs looks strange and is very distracting in a bad way and I agree that we should have been given a bendy-wire whip, they should have included it as a pack-in as an apology for how delayed this figure has been and for the flood of excuses we kept being given. I'm really not bothered by the color of his uniform, either color palate I would have been fine with, as long as there was matching/consistency. But, worst of all, any bad paint apps, paint marks, scuffs, etc. are inexcusable, as is the missing elbow pad detail (which was shown in every product shot and every prototype)! Again, I need to wait to get my figure to see how he is and what he's like, and even though your review here has alleviated some of my concerns and complaints, I still think that Tygra deserved better, Thundercats fans deserve better, and we as loyal, supportive Super7 customers definitely deserve better, we also deserve an explanation and an apology, perhaps in the form of a free accessory pack or something that acknowledges our concerns about the inconsistencies and QC issues.
Totally agree. Booster pack 2: Elbow pad, bendy-wire bolo whip, Tygra head with glowing eyes and Lion-O head with glowing eyes.
Booster pack v2 needs-at the very least-the trim to tygra's right sleeve and trunks that cover up Grune's hip joints.
So 3 months on how do you feel now you have your figure? Please give us an update :-)
@@Nunos645cgh Well I painted him twice and spent over an hour sculpting an elbow pad for him after Super7 basically said too bad get over it in an interview. So after putting in a lot of work on the Tygra figure that I waited over two years for, I'm very happy with him now. But I've completely lost faith in Super7 as a company and I'm trying to cancel my thundertank and get my money back but they're "customer service" is not answering any of my emails.
@@comix1017 wow that’s a shame, I don’t class myself as a hardcore fan I just got the 2 Mumra’s and 1 Lion O and thought they looked amazing. There’s no way I get the Thundertank at that price, it sounds like you have made some good mods but at that price you really shouldn’t have to. Can’t say I blame you for feeling that way.
Tygra is my favorite Thundercat as well and these flaws are a bit disappointing smh. Hopefully I enjoy him better in person.

Yeah Super7 does whatever they want. Don’t get me wrong I love their figures. They are becoming a bit expensive but when I see something I really want I will pay the price. I’m still waiting on my Mumm-ra the ever living. Cant wait for that guy.
Tygra is a barefooter
These ThunderCats figures look great. I only wish they were more of a matte fnish instead of glossy
3:55 I thought of a few ideas with helping out Tygra's big _no elbow pad_ issue. You can get a bag of those tiny multicolored rubber bands. My daughter had some...but not sure exactly where they came from. They have a blue in there that totally matches the straps on the left arm. Even though there's not an actual pad, at least it'll be a separation point where the sleeve meets the fur.
The other thought is using a wrestling elbow pad. So if you cut down the excess to make the strap really thin (then paint it of course), it'll be damn near perfect with having the oval shaped pad in the back. Not something we should ever have to do, but _it is what it is_ as the saying goes.

Worst case scenario, if we don't get given the elbow pad, I have an idea. How about a blue elbow pad from an old WWF Jakks figure? Like Kurt Angle for example. It won't be perfect and the shape would be slightly different but I believe it's better than nothing. That arm just looks nude when you know what's supposed to be there.
Despite any minor flaws, these figures are the "dream versions" I wish I had as a kid. Since I've only ever known the LJN line, this is like 20 levels beyond that toy line. It's like going from VHS quality to 4K IMO>
@Thundercats85 very true now and if only we could get prototype matt finish style figures and at a better quality and value not having to spend over $50 for one action figure!🤔PS That if pre-ordered arrive on time or even early, so everyone can enjoy them!
I hear that often, but I'm an 80s kid and neither me, nor anybody I knew ever complained about action figures not being cartoon accurate or about articulations. What I remember is being impressed by the size and mechanism of the LJN Thundercats compared to other action figures of the time.
@@heroesytumbas 80s kid here too, and I would generally agree with you about the Thundercats LJN line. As a kid, they were close enough to the cartoon and I didn't really have a problem with them (although the Thundertank and Cat's Lair were not proportionate). He-man on the other hand...those figures bothered me quite a bit because Evil Lynn was not yellow, Man-at-Arms didn't have a mustache, Skeletor looked off, etc. The new Origins line is fixing all of that stuff and it's much appreciated!
@@CringerKitty I'd like to have show accurate figures or LJN reissues. Fresh, non yellowed, non sticky 80s figures. Those would have an actual nostalgia value and look good on display. Ultimates are neither show accurate nor nostalgic. And every figure they release has an issue. Hammerhand (or as super7 called him, HammerHEAD) and Vultureman are ridiculous in how off of the mark they are; can't be more obvious how super7 just doesn't care. The former is a bizarre mix of the show and the LJN toy, with more bad decisions regarding accesories from people that clearly aren't that familiar with the source material nor did proper research. The latter is WAY too tall and is missing toes... And the repaints they intent to release as wave six when people still can't complete the core Thundercats team. They're basically laughing at people.
@@heroesytumbas I have been lucky in that I haven't received a Thundercats figure with a bad paint job (yet). I definitely understand people's issues with the QC though. If you're paying $50 bucks or more for an action figure, it better be damn near perfect. And while they're not perfect, I dunno...they just work for me. Although, I agree with you about Vultureman (I won't be buying him). Looks like Super 7's Wave 6 is an LGN nostalgia release - but no light up eyes for Lion-O or Mumm-Ra and no Snarf (with Lion-O) or Wily-Kit (with Cheetarah) stinks and is a missed opportunity. Hopefully the QC gets better over time, but based on interviews I've seen, it doesn't sound/feel like this line is Super 7's passion project.

Odd, there was another Super7 Tygra review on RUclips couple days ago. His copy of Tygra looked much more teal/green than this one. - After watching this review, I'll keep my BBTS preorder alive. I'm kinda digging the dirty wash look as those colors match the 80s toys SO MUCH that he's bringing back nostalgia of well played with figures. The ones you took with you on car rides and played with outside, etc.. Hope mine doesn't have as many paint splotches, though. That's super annoying for this price point.

I love the colors on Tygra, hoping to get the blue outfit & lighter orange later; However since seeing this more colorful Tygra I now want them to release a pinless Lion-O & Panthro with brighter animated colors!
PS I REALLY hope Super7 sends a booster pack with a way to add the right shoulder pad with a glowing eyes head for our wait 😃

I had the impression that Tygra would be shorter than even Panthro. Well, I'm happier now. :)
Perhaps, they might reissue Lion-o and Panthro with the new sculps, without the pin holes. At least, they seem to have it already done for Lion-o in the red version.
Oh, I know this is only wave 2, but I'm forced to add they should have added a glow-in-the-dark-eyes head
The largest big cat is a Tiger in the real world so I like how Tygra is slightly taller than Lion-O.
His Left forearm strap should be dark blue like the tops of the boots.
They messed up the right sleeve. They had 3 years and still didn't get it right. Still, it's the best Tygra to date.

I’ve noticed the paint apps for the eyes have been a bit wonky on this line. I seem to remember them talking about paint issues with the cats and using a different place to produce them than the turtles.
How come tygra always go barefoot?
I wish more people were vocal about this so Super7 would feel inclined to fix it. All of my Thundercats have had wonky eyes so far.

I would liked the other version, but this version really makes me remember my (only) Thundercat toy from LJN,so no foul for me on that(but the big orange nose always felt a bit "clownish" to me).

They are redoing lions and panthro with version 2 figures. Basically the exact same figure with slight variations. Lol so the answer is yes. They are already up for pre order om bbts
Somehow, I wonder if this is just an excuse to release a Tygra variant that looks closer to the prototype down the line. After all, there were two Tygra variants in the original LJN toy line. Perhaps that's an ode to that?

Loved Tygra and loved ThunderCats, but I gotta say, not liking any of the action figure incarnations to date, including this Super7 version (the best so far, but very limited)
I think I prefer the greener tint over the blue. It works better with the orange. I just don’t think they captured the character likeness and the elbow miss is just plain embarrassing. Great review though!
Great review. Bummed to see my favorite ThunderCat get the short end of the stick though. I also wish Super7 would start making the eyes more congruent.

I definitely prefer the matte finish shown on the promotional photos, with a nicer orange. This shiny bright orange in the final production figure just makes it look far more toyish. Oh well, it's been such a long wait, I'm just glad to add to the Thundercats collection at all. Hopefully BBTS get their stock soon.

The right arm elbow pad could be done in a separate piece like the wrestling figures and Super 7 can do that the same way they shipped the parts for Panthro and Jackalman... again, they are charging $50+ for a clearly no more than $20 figure. Shouldn't be a problem and these issues shouldn't be happening

So now it would seem that Tygra is the tallest Thundercat. I still don't know why Lion-O couldn't have been made a bit taller. Fans were saying that when this line was first announced. Many didn't like the height of the Mattel version but yet we got the same again. I like aspects of this Tygra figure but that elbow pad omission is rubbish. His right arm looks terrible without it. Even a 37 year old figure has it. I really don't like that Bandai Tygra. I liked the 8 inch Lion-O that they did but that Tygra looked weird. The torso on it was terrible.

That orange color is way off. I’m not sure why they didn’t just use a matte finish.
I actually like this colour scheme more, so it doesn't bother me either. But yeah, the super saturated bright orange and yellowish looking face is no good. I was trying my best to find one image from the show where Tygra had that yellowy fleshtone face, but nothing. Wonder if Super7's gonna do a Tygra (and Grune) 2.0...and when would that be. Ha, if only we could submit our 'proof of purchases' and eventually get the _as advertised_ replacements at no extra cost.

Oof! Super 7 didn’t quite nail Tygra.
What’s going to be the real bummer is these newer released figs are all pin less in the limbs but the earlier ones like Lion-O & Pantho have those ugly ol pins.
They had the ability to go pin less back then but couldn’t be bothered, that’s weak.
When all together as a team, they won’t look as cohesive as I’d like.
They have version 2s of Lion-O and Panthro with pin less limbs.

He doesn't have the band on his elbow, his arms don't bend 90 degrees , his legs are the worst. How do we suppose to sit this figure in the Thundertank? The colours don't bother me so much but his articulations. They need re-make this figure.

I noticed Pumyra at the end of the vid and she's still too tall, not as tall as she was but still taller than the other cats. Also, Bandai didn't know what they were talking about when they said they wanted their classics line to be like the LJN line. The LJN line was 6 inch, not 8 inch. With the alt head, Tygra looks like he's doing a shit or like Chandler Bing when he's having his photo taken.

It’s a good figure but it’s not great. With all the extra time Super 7 took with this guy I would think that almost everything would be close to perfect on him. Kind of disappointed with the orange color. Actually liked the original lighter orange. The shading on the stomach just looks horrible. Almost like the orange plastic is showing because the blue paint wasn’t thick enough. I know that’s not the case, but that’s what it looks like.

Super 7 meessed up big with Tygra and Grune... There is NO way around it. If these figures would cost something around 30 usd I would not mind, but they insist to charge import prices for retail pieces.
Tbh despite all the “flaws” mentioned I am very happy with the final product. He looks amazing and I love the teal color pallet. He’s by far my favorite TC and I can’t wait to welcome him into my collection.

Tygra was never supposed to be blue. His colours are all over the place on the show and are vaiang degrees of inaccurate to the original cel. Green is displaced to grey and sometimes blue. The cels were transferred to film, then to tape. This coping to lower quality format came with trade-offs in quality and colour. The colours aren't even consistent between NTSC and PAL standards.
The scale is off too, to be accurate he should be taller than Tygra and shorter than Lion-O. Probably more of an issue with Lion-O being too short than Tygra being too tall though.
The PowerCon version looks WAY better than this. I hate the colors on this one, for this price point Super7 should deliver a better product than this.

I am a big Super 7 fan and have been collecting the Thundercats line (in addition to many of their other lines). Aside from too many issues with this figure- the oversaturated colors (which do not go with the rest of the line), the poorly done eyes, the missing elbow pad, etc.- my main gripe is that this is not what they originally showed and sold to customers who preordered this item. After years of supposedly doing quality control checks, there are too many missteps with this figure. I am someone who did/does prefer the original (and advertised) look of this figure... I think I am going to cancel my preorder and hope they rerelease the original as a "variant" somewhere down the line. #notmytygra
60 bucks to have missing parts is just inexcusable. Super 7 wants to make fuck ups then fine. But charge way less. I'm buying figuarts for similar prices and they are leaps and bounds better. There is no excuse for the price point. Go harder on Super 7 man. Stop being so forgiving.

I'm kinda MEH on this figure. I don't mind the color of the uniform but his skin tones are too saturated. Not crazy about that grimacing head sculpt, although your photo at the end of the review made me like it a little more. I WILL say that so far what I find most disappointing with these figures, the Cats in particular, is that other than the Panthro head that came in the "We goofed up" pack, none of the Thundercats have a glowing eyes head sculpt when they are being summoned. How could they not include that???!!! We got it with Panthro in the "bonus/corrective" pack, so I thought going forward, that would be a given. Sadly not.

Finally got my Tygra and looks soo much like a bootleg...he is a few grades inferior in quality than Lion-o....
But my V2 Lion O looks fantastic?

I dunno....he is OK tough i am not sure why he looks kinda cheap. Maybe is the firt sculpt or the intense color palette, but while this is more close to the cartoon, it looks less..."premium" than how the protype look.
I mean, is not a bad figure, but for an Ultimate that took two years to land because "they wanted him beyond perfection" this looks kinda tacky
Super7 clearly got the colors wrong. It’s suppose to blue. Not what they went for hence why the vintage and the Bandai ones were blue. Think Brain Flynn is color blind. Did the same crap to Panthro’s shorts. Unacceptable for this price range. His stuff also has some pretty piss poor QC. I think think I own any of his products that didn’t have something wrong with it. Loose joints In particularly.
Disappointed with this figure.... I had a lot of hope for this .... Just cancelled my PO on BBTS ..... That gold shading on the ab area looks bad.... The photos on the BbTs site show a nice version... But this final product is disappointing.....😐😐😐👎👎👎
The missing elbow pad is bs. The shoulders are too stooped, the proportions are off, the orange is too red, and he shouldn't look taller than Lion-O. People shouldn't make so many excuses after being ripped off by hipsters with 50+ bucks action figures.

Super 7 is half assing all the nostalgia figure lines,they just wanna make a quick buck.And please don’t say “you’ll get over it” you’re paying your hard earned money on their figures and I don’t think it’s fair...no matter if you’re rich or getting by,it’s just not just.
