I was fortunate to have lived near Steve. He was a member of our SAM and IBM clubs. He was a great mind in magic, and a very nice man. Always willing to help a fellow magician. I know that his daughter and wife have teamed up with someone to put out some of his older tricks.
I always buy them when they come out. His ideas were usually very simple and very useable. I have many of his items that I bought from a local shop.
One reason for the video quality is it was most likely shot with one of those huge vhs cameras. Did not have the technology they have today.

Oh man, that is too cool!!! I haven’t seen too much of Mr. Dusheck’s work, but I LOVE “Digital Dissolve”, which is a gimmicked coin effect put out by Theory 11 based on a routine & gimmick by Mr. Dusheck. And it KILLS! I hate to give it away, but it’s my finisher for Spellbound.

What a great experience to have direct contact with a creative and generous performer. I also bought most of his releases.
Jerry Andrus was a member of the IBM Ring I was in. He was also an amazing creator and performer who was very generous with his teaching and especially his thoughts about how magic should look to an audience.

Unfortunately Steve passed away back in 2019. I got the pleasure of meeting him numerous times as a kid learning magic. I even took one of his coin vanishing moves and turned It into a switching move to go with a trick I came up with. I showed him it and he loved it!

Watched the vid looks great. I’d add in having a single small card you give a person to look at during that phase. On some occasions it could even be “the chosen card”. The handling looks so straightforward the effect definitely has legs imo, thanks for bringing it to my attention Sir.

@@magicorthodoxy l had a trick like this as a kid. But it was knacky and had to watch your angles. Had it back in 1975.

Back in the day, we didn't have videos, only printed instructions, although I do have (somewhere) a VHS tape of Steve's tricks that he produced - if only I had a working VHS tape player. I still have several of his tricks including my favorite: wunderbar. Even today, it still blows people away and there's nothing like it on the market.

    I did a version of this card trick about 1962 by U F Grant…

Rob Zabrecky does a great version of this. I like to see some of the classics come back. Sometimes it feels like being trapped in a echo chamber of cardistry and propless mentalism. I blame it all on Chris Ramsey.😂

I had a set of these in the '80's. I think they were originally in his lecture notes. (That really ages me, huh?) Very fun to do. Not necessarily a 'feature' trick, more of a bridging effect to me. It was also a little problematic getting in and out of the routine. The cards are easy to handle, but you have to work a bit as you get the cards out and set up the first fan.
