The perfect combination of maturity...and a young man's energy. A superb performance in every way - his cantabile is outstanding and his ability to deal with the differing notes-per-bar in each hand is inspiring. More please, from any concert that he plays in. Thankyou to the Arthur Rubinstein awards for this.
What a gifted and blessed pianist! I really enjoyed listening to this, before only loved it with the great Svjatoslav Richter and thought nobody else could play it well. I was wrong …
We are very happy to announce that the 14th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition will be streamed live! I have read that supposedly Schumann when he wrote this lacked the everyday pianistic experience (due to his finger injury) to realize that the end of the second movement was inordinately difficult
Wow, the jumps around 19:27 are extremely fast and accurate! A very solid performance, though I think Pletnev's is more sweeping and mystic, close to perfection to me.
Wonderful accuracy in the coda of the march! Wish he had played the original ending written by Schumann and rediscovered by Charles Rosen and Andras Schiff.
Complaining about facial expressions of musicians is the same as complaning about youtube commenters (that complain about the facial expressions of musicians) - Irrelevant.
He did well. But he didnt play strong enough at the beginnig and I think he missed a couple of times, but maybe it is just me because I am used to listen this opus from other permorfers
@David Rogoff, nice playing but.....but is way too wet, always emoting without pause, like someone continuously talking, but there is no story telling, no architectural build and no sense of climax, his phrasings sound the same and are not well defined. His playing is nice for background music though.
I pity the energy spent playing that on the piano, and working. A very famous Schuman bullshit. It's not worth tearing yourself apart for prestige. There is no good interpretation of a bad thing. Walter Gieseking plays great, but the composition sucks. It doesn't feel anything.
the people who play classics that are over 5 min. thank u

I love this performance...so moving and emotional...
Breathtaking from the very first note....
that really portrays melancholy as it is...you could easily notice not only on the interpretation but on the passion from the performer...
I really like this performance. He is such a musician who truly understands Schumann.
Very moving. Throughout the performance good dynamic shadings and emotional control. really enjoyed. Thank you for the video.
A very passionate and wonderful performance. Well done !
Beautiful rendition of this masterpiece
Unbelievable playing of the coda of the second movement.

Превосходный музыкант и пианист !!❤
a very mature insight wich brough a fresh breeze to a well known piece in the piano repertoire.a pianist to be looked for in the future.
I hope I can see him in concert one day; love his performances, also of the Beethoven sonata at the Iturbe competition
he plays superb, so emotional, brings shumann's beauty

Beautiful tone and emotional depth!!!!
Good music, well played. Thanks.
Просто потрясающе! Слушала и смотрела, затаив дыханье.
I have read that supposedly Schumann when he wrote this lacked the everyday pianistic experience (due to his finger injury) to realize that the end of the second movement was inordinately difficult
They say that back then only Liszt was able to play it without struggling.

I do like Pletnev's for SURE... but this is kind of spectacular...
No sabría yo decir si esta es la mejor interpretación, pero si le aseguro que es la que más me gusta
Very beautiful!

Ausgezeichnete Einspielung!!!!
Bravo!!!!
Woooow!!!coooool!!!:)))))
A very good performance
Perhaps you could show us how its done.I think he's great.
It's a Schumann study on love and melancholy.
Fantastico.
Good performing!!!
Excelente!
Zdorovo igraet
Damn that person who coughed at the end.
That's all you have to say about the performance?

Who cares about his face ? It doesn't matter how does he feel the music, just enjoy the interpretation.
He did well. But he didnt play strong enough at the beginnig and I think he missed a couple of times, but maybe it is just me because I am used to listen this opus from other permorfers
Typical Schumann: Chop cha’chop cha’chop cha’chop
I take it you are blind
a great work? I'm not sure..but it has it's moments. Schumann wrote his best using small forms.
what is this whispering sound 'ja ja ja..'? very annoying sound
him xD

Agreed - there are times when he sounds like he's rushing through the notes
Fred MyOpinion Do you prefer Evgeny Kissin's playing of this piece?
facial expressions are distracting
Too forced. His face is too dramatic, better to be still.
