Thank you for talking about The Kinks as a band. Ray has said he loved giving his songs over to the band because he never knew what they would do to ithe song to improve it,

I’m 73 years old - original kinks fan - till the end of my days - 700 songs in their catalog and hundreds are just as good as their HITS!!! Mick Jaggers son was asked who was his favorite rock group…. He said KINKS!!!! Time to go AROUND THE DIAL……

This is the album that hooked me on the Kinks as a college freshman, along with Muswell Hillbillies. The song Education is a masterpiece too!

The riff you're comparing to is actually from the song Powerman. The two are distinctly different.

I'm picturing will Farrell coming in yelling "congratulations on being the greatest RUclips channel"

@@intothemusic908 Of course. It's from the movie elf. Coffee shop called world's greatest coffee so he runs in their yelling congratulations dressed as an elf.

In those times Village Green Preservation Society was not their break-through, but sadly completely ignored. It later year by year got the attention it deserved, so much that it even now battles with Arthur Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire as their greatest concept-album. Try next time Shangri-La from the latter album, an absolute masterpiece. Great reaction, and you are right: No More Looking Back is about trying to move on and while doing that constantly coming back to places and situations you experienced with that loved one you are trying to forget about...

Great song! Now I am even more uncertain whether I have heard it before. Could be the guitar you mentioned. The title words seem familiar, but I can't say that I remember any other lyrics. But now I will go listen to "Celluloid Heroes" my favorites Kink's song.

I'm in disgrace from same album. For Dave's guitar work, or Headmaster now I think of it

Yes, "I'm in disgrace" is a great song !!! Now I'm think of it, "The Hard Way" also from Schoolboys in Disgrace was covered by The Knack in 1980.

Kinks' songs tend to have brothers or sisters. Especially during their early years. But Ray stated you can't plagiarize yourself.

One of the best written breakup/heartache songs ever recorded and he chooses to dwell on some insignificant bridge from a song that he cannot even cite?

This track is from Schoolboys in Disgrace (their last "conceptual" album and a very good one !). I still enjoy their next two: Sleepwalker and Misfits and much less what will follow ....
