It worked perfectly for me I did this job by myself in 15 minutes thank you very much I already have 96,000 miles on my sonata the belt was already very damaged
@@MCFIXITI have a question please. My belt was broken so it was replaced. Everything was fine for 2-3 days & now my lights are starting to flicker & power steering light came on(same symptoms a few days before belt broke). Could it be one of the pulleys even though so squealing sound is coming from then while car is on?
Those belts aren't too bad to get off, but getting on can certainly be a challenge. Thanks for this informative video on how to take it off and put it back on a new one!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I will say you made it look easy haha but definitely good direction! I was able to get it done with your help! Hardest part was getting the new belt on 😭 ! I have never done it before but definitely won’t hesitate to do it again! Thank you 🙏
Great video! We have the same car. May I ask how many drive belts does our car have? The dealer quoted me for Qty. 2 serpentine belt replacement for $450.
That will work. You just want to be sure to leave room for the tensioner and be around each part correctly. There are many ways to do this with what part you start with going around. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@MCFIXIT Yeah i was able to get it on, i flipped my wrench to the open side instead of the closed circle and I had to buy a shorter length to get enough clearance to fully extend the tensioner making it easier to put the belt on
hello so the the water pump pulley need its own seperate belt if so whats it called? im going to replace them and i want to make sure i get the right ones both are mine are torn.
Accessory belt. Sorry, this was on my parents vehicle and my dad just wanted to serpentine belt done. So that's what I did. They no longer own the vehicle. I'm sure there's a video on it though!
DID THIS TODAY! USE A SHORTER WRENCH SO IT GOES UNDER THE MOTOR MOUNT BRAKET AREA AND ARE ABLE THE MOVE THE TENSIONER MORE ITS A BREEZE AFTER THAT YOU DONT NEED 2 PEOPLE
Thanks 👍. I will need to do the belt in about 40,000 miles so it might take some time before that one is filmed. It’s a pretty easy process. Make sure to get a serpentine belt tool (long, thing tool with a 3/8 drive on the end) and a basic mm socket. I’m sure there are other RUclips videos on it. Thanks for watching. Hope you can successful change out the belt.
OMG! Thanks for posting the video. Hyundai wants to charge me $514.00 for the parts and labor to get this done!!!!! I want to try it myself but I'm scared. Are there any women here who've done this successfully?
Yeah, they charge a lot of money for it. Honestly, your hands are probably small than mine which would make this project even easier. I think that's the hardest part of the project. Take your time and you can do it!
@@MCFIXIT I was replying to one of your followers who said he did the job in 15mins!😂 There's NO way you can get that done in that amount of time especially by yourself! I tried to do it by myself for an hour and a half, and until I asked my wife to help me, I wouldn't of been able to do it. YOU do need another person to help you, for sure! Yes, your video was very helpful. Thank you. Now, I might have to change the water pump belt later. How do you do that?
I have not done it in this vehicle before. Not have done them numerous times. This was my parents vehicle but they sold it. So I won’t have a video on this.
Why is it that whatever task they are showing you how to do, looks simple and easy in the video, but in real life, you find yourself beating the car with a hammer because your so frustrated that the belt didn't go on as easy as they showed in the video .....lol ..my tensioner was tense and it took a lot of force to release that tension in the first place, and you have to be careful becaus the air conditioner line is right where your working and its easily dented or damaged on the process....I spent literally 2 whole days trying to get my belt on. Maybe it's just me and I'm a bit mentally retarded but that sucker was hard it even broke my long tool designed for the job...uhgg never again
Very good, thank you for your help. Took my son and I 30 min or so to fix his car. I am not a fix it guy, but you made this very understandable.
Glad you were able to accomplish this fix! Thanks for watching and commenting!
That’s it?!? You made it look too easy!! I appreciate you so much!!
Yeah, this is a pretty easy process on this vehicle. It’s a bit tight which is the biggest challenge!

I had a squeaky noise come from mine@@tlynn609
Best video I’ve seen. Very straight forward. I changed it in literally 5 minutes by myself. Thanks
Glad to hear it was helpful!
Very good video, liked how you described everything in detail from where the hood latch was to how to angle the 17mm wrench.
You are welcome!

Mine snapped yesterday during this Wisconsin storm, fixing myself today because of you. Thanks man 💪🏾💪🏾
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching!
what happen when they break
Thank you!! I had a heck of a time getting the wrench to stay on the tensioner. I had to use the other side of the wrench and then it went right on. ✅
Glad it worked for you!

Thanks got it done in 10 mins
So glad it was helpful. Good job on doing it yourself!
Thank you, Sir! Once I got the right wrench (same one from video), it took me about 20 min to put the new belt on (Walmart wrench kept slipping 😅)
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Great video! We have the same car. May I ask how many drive belts does our car have? The dealer quoted me for Qty. 2 serpentine belt replacement for $450.
Sorry, I can’t remember. I did this on a friends car a while ago and just got to editing the video. It might have a second belt for accessories.
Its 2 belts
I know this was 2 years ago but do you happen to know the length of the wrench you used?
I don’t but it was a standard size (not extra long). Sorry! Thanks for watching and commenting
Is this the same steps, for the 2.0 turbo model? Or extra steps.
Great question! I’ve not worked on the model of it. Let me know what you find out!
For clarity, you started at the crankshaft, then ac, then alternator and then lifted the tensioner and slid the belt under?
That will work. You just want to be sure to leave room for the tensioner and be around each part correctly. There are many ways to do this with what part you start with going around.

How did yall get it on I’ve been doing this for 3hours this some bs
Were you able to get the belt on? There is some difficulty due to the tight location

Thanks, this helped me out a lot. I thought I was going to have hire an election to fix my issue.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hire a what? You mean mechanic?
Would the tension ever need to be adjusted when doing this exact car? Or should it just slip on with the same tension as before?
It shouldn’t. Your tensioner might be busted if it doesn’t work like this. It should hold it in place once the belt is properly lined up.
Shocking the white paint isn't missing. A lot of them do
Yes that happens for sure!

What size belt?
I used a Contential belt 4060397F. Hope this helps!
Thanks!

If someone isn't smart enough to know how to open the hood, they shouldn't even attempt this.
I like to full instructional videos. Each vehicle has different locations for the hood latch. So it can be helpful to some. But I get what you mean!
Thank you

cant believe the dealership wants to charge me $350 for this job, while they already are doing a factory engine replacement.
That’s crazy sauce!!! It’s so easy to change out. It would take probably less than 1 min if done before the engine was installed
Just put it on the pulley first and alternator last
