On our channel you can find a complete video called "Getting Started" if you need more information about Peakto. We are currently working on a printable documentation, which should be available soon.
No the source catalog, once ingested does not need to be online, but the browsing of images will be restricted to the previews extracted by Peakto. In other words, if the catalog is online and contains higher resolution previews, then Peakto would be able to display them in the Detail View. Of course, if the catalog is offline Peakto will not know if anything has changed....but will properly detect it once the catalog comes back online.
Looks awesome, but can peakto directly ingest pictures taken on my iPhone if I don't use apple photo apps on my mac ? Would it be able to also ingest automatically my wife's iPhone ?
Hello Vincent, currently Peakto does not ingest from the iPhone directly but we plan to release a companion mobile app that will do that. It won’t happen before 2023 though 😕
Nice idea, but not ready for prime time yet. It crashed constantly importing Lightroom and Apple Photos and I had to do a partial retire of my LR database after deleting Peakto.
We are sorry to hear about your crashes. It can happen but is fairly uncommon and if it happens it is because you are probably in a scenario (version of lib, content) that we have never seen before. In such a case, it is as simple as sending us the detailed crash logs and we will fix those situations immediately. We have literally ingested thousands of catalogs over the years in peakto and avalanche and have resolved all the very tricky cases as they appeared. Regarding the LR database, we have set ourselves a red line that we never cross and that is: we never ever write anything in the database. We simply open it. Please contact us directly at support@cyme.io to give us more details.
What are the size of the image previews ? i'd like to know how many picture previews I could store on my internal hd (originals on external hd taht could be offline)
Hello Vincent, there is a new document in our knowledge base that goes into details on the subject. Don’t hesitate if you need more info. desk.cyme.io/portal/en/kb/articles/how-much-free-space-does-peakto-need
Hi...ON1 integration will be very similar to the DXO PhotoLab integration : #1. view all your On1 edited versions anywhere in your sources, #2. launch On1 editing from any image in any source and track the new versions created #3. Drag and drop an image into a dedicated On1 workspace to work on image copies (for example when the original lives embedded in a Photos library). Preliminary work is done...we need some time to finish and test. So this integration is more-than-likely to happen ;-)
I use On1 Photoraw as well as LR, C1 and Luminar Ai, so if I have edited with Luminar Ai, this program won't show the database? Same as with On1? Why does this DAM solution needs to ingest all the photos? Bridge uses just a browsing solution, same as on1 Photoraw, or DxO. Just wondering, and what would be the differences with Excire or that kind of programs? Thank you very much, what I liked is that the ingestion is smaller than with other similar programs (Mylio, or Excire, just to mention a couple of them) .
Hi Daniela. Peakto will display the content of your Luminar catalogs withe a preview whose size depends on what Luminar has saved. If my reply does not fully answer the question you have, please feel free to write back. The other programs you mention (which are all fine apps) scan the disk and create a view of your folders. Peakto creates a view of your catalogs including all the information that exists in the catalogs only (the albums, the versions, some annotations that only live inside the catalogs, the previews....etc). You can launch Luminar AI to edit an image from Excire Fotos but you will never see the that this image has been edited in Luminar and you will never see the preview of your edit inside Excire. Peakto will reference the changes made to the images by accessing the previews. This requires Peakto to ingest the catalogs and not only browse the files. The other reason why we need to ingest everything is because : we reconstruct structures that involve all images (albums/projects), we compute various indicators that will be used in the future (to compute similarity instantaneously, to find duplicates, to power search). We are working hard to make ingestion faster and to give feedback earlier. When you ingest 10k images in LR it is not instantaneous. We are working to make ingestion as fast as 2k images per min or more. By working on a more clever incremental ingestion we are also working on making each change in a catalog or folder really quick. Want more ? DXO Photolab and ON1 will be supported in a forthcoming version with amazing inter app workflows. Stay tuned...
@@CymePhotography wow, you were the most kind person to answer a real life question!!!! I can't tell you how greateful I am . With this alone you deserved all the credibility!!!! Let me tell you that Photographers, do need a real DAM solution, that won't make huge extra folders in you computer. I know that ingesting will have some ammount of weight! Personally I rarely use LR, cause my main camera is FUJI, and the best way to develop Fuji raw photos, are other programs. Don't ask me, why, but when you see the same .raf file, in C1, On1, LR or Luminar Ai, or Dxo Labs, they all look different (program engine codes I guess) So you had to make a choice. I tried each and every single program you might find out there to get the best of the Fuji files. 2 Programs just gave me the real photo I know I have taken, ON1 Photo raw, and the oddly known Silkypix, wich is a program that Fuji has some kind of agreement. I tried the free ones as well, but they are the less desirable, due to learning curves. (Please excuse my english as I speak spanish) I know that this FUJI situation has been an issue for many photographers. Nowdays LR is nearly there, yet, when you look at details, not so much. And yes, a real dam solution, is necessary, for many, many photographers. A lot of people making wedding photography will love to have their edited photos in the same DAM as well. I will follow you up, and wait till the next step is given, but I downloaded the trial version :) Geez we are kind of making an epistolar exchange. My Kudos, for the app, and my greetings from distant Uruguay.
I have two questions. Will Capture One variants show up in Peakto? And is there a demo version, or do you have to purchase a license/subscription and then request a refund in order just to try it?
1- Variants show up in Peakto, as do Lightroom virtual copies. Peakto tracks and displays all variations of a master created in a catalog. 2- There is currently a trial version for subscriptions plans. It involves entering payment details but the first payment will be initiated after the trial ends. We will soon introduce a time limited trial that does not involve entering any payment details together with a public download link. This is made possible because we will reduce the download size of the Peakto executable to about 100Mb.
Would have been interesting, but I will never own another Apple device. Apple screwed me on my Ipod and I lost all the music I had bought. I have an old Ipad and am forced to work on one at work (I call it "the Glitch-pad"), hate them both. Should you come-up with a MS or Android version, I would be interested.
Just downloaded the trial but it's only showing the 'demo' images and not any of my stuff... I have no filters set up but clicking individual folders doesn't work either. Can't really trial something if it only shows demo photos...
Hello, there was an issue with the trial version that would ignore entire folders due to an badly implemented test on image sizes. The fix is in 1.3.2 published a few days ago. Otherwise, you can uncheck the setting "Exclude Small Images" in the Settings > Advanced Preferences Panel. Before 1.3.1 this setting was ON by default and the test was bad. You will have to reingest your folders though.
Hey hi. I'm having a Peakto struggle. Here’s your picture. Cool. Here’s a thousand things you can do with it, yeah… ace. Where is the picture? Nah, not telling. Seriously, I can’t find where or how to access the original. Can we have that at the top of a list pretty please?
Hello! In the grid view, at the bottom, you have a quick access to the image file and the parent folder. The contextual menu also has a Reveal Master in Finder.... Would you want us to put this action at the top...we had some internal discussions about it. What do you think ?
Just indexed 30 years of work. WOW. Solves the mac finder ant search Synology NAS problem once and for all. I am very impressed.
We are glad that you like Peakto. Feel free to share your feedback with us.
I work with Luminar Neo and the catalog doesn't appear how should I do it?
Hello Bernard,
Thank you for your comment. You can submit a ticket from our website cyme.io. The technical team will answer you shortly.
Is there a manual to print and read?

If a catalog is on an external drive will it need to be connected to browse pictures?
