This is awesome! I'm starting a photography business and edited using Mac Photos for a while. I never knew about the copy adjustments and paste adjustments page. This will help so much!
Probably the best video on using Apple's Photo editing app on RUclips that I can find. Appreciate the thoroughness of the content. Now a new subscriber.
Thanks a lot for this video... It's really the best one I've come across on the topic! Just a couple of remarks, as I also use Photos on a system running Catalina (Photos version 5). 1. There is indeed a histogram that you can turn on at the top of the editing controls panel. The option is at the bottom of the View menu. 2. As for copying and pasting edits from one photo to multiple others, this is possible in later versions. I'm not sure with which version it came along, but it also does not work on my other Mac running Big Sur. It does definitely works under Ventura, though. There, you just copy your adjustments and then select as many target photos as you like to then paste them in. As you pointed out, though, it's still not possible to save a profile externally, but I really like your idea of saving a sample photo to hold a set of adjustments. I hadn't thought of that. Unfortunately, though, this still doesn't give us a way to transfer a set of edits to a different Photos library. You downplayed the Levels controls a bit... But from playing with it, it seems that it could be quite powerful. Do you think you could figure it out and explain it all to us in a new video? 🙂
Great video. I discovered how good this was a while ago. I learnt a few new things as well.I find this meets all my needs and if I was still doing weddings I wouldn't need anything better. I am using it on older macs like you. Thanks geoff
Hi, thanks for highlighting Photos as a really useful bundled editor with this useful, well presented video. Photos has gone through some significant improvements since this video, especially with the recent release of the Sequoia Mac OS. Would you consider making an updated video, or have you moved on to another editor in the meantime?
You could use preview to see large image before importing if you wish, having said that importing all photos a Quick Look to see if image is useable,if not delete and enter will remove which to me is a lot quicker.i only shoot in raw so I also don’t need the xtra step you do of having to change edit in. Thanks for a good video presentation of Apple photos, the app has been updated domewgphat in latest OS.
Thank you so much for your kind words and support on the video! That's a great question! After you have edited the photo, it will become a JPEG file unless you use the top left button to revert it back to RAW. Hope it helps!
hey bro ! I appreciate the video very helpful ! Can I ask if you can get Lightroom on that Mac ? I just bought a MacBook Air version 10.13.6 and I can't get it. But they had the same as yours in the shop. Thankyou again brother !
I'm actually ending my first Photography course. It's pretty good. 4 months. They use lightroom and PS but I have a Mac so I'm trying to get the best of the native app. Your video is very useful. Thanks
I like this photo editing software, especially when it doesn’t cost us anything to use it. My biggest problem however is that when I’ve edited a photo and come to save what I’ve edited, the program doesn’t save the thumbnail, so when I’ve finished editing, it just comes up as a blank white square instead of the photo in the imports Do you or anyone else know how to fix this annoying problem?? I’ve tried the auto enhancement, and that does absolutely f**k all. Just seems to be nothing more than a temperamental fault with either the computer or the program
I have had my Mac Book for several years and I am just learning how I CAN EDIT One of the best features of my Mac is this editing program. I like how thorough you have shown the features here Can you explain in the crop section about the ratios What do they mean?
My 'Photos" doesn't have 'devices' linked at the bottom. I don't know why. The icloud does not update the photos available quickly either... still figuring out all this stuff.
Can I put one image at the back of another photo but it still can be seen? Ex. A (picture of a) dog “peeking” thru a window (2nd photo) using the Mac Photos? If not, what are the options? Thanks!

Can you export it as 300dpi into a folder on your computer?
Supertx!
Hi there, is it possible to apply presets etc ? thank you for your video !
That’s a great question! Unfortunately I don’t think there is a way to apply presets in the Mac Photos app at the moment. Hope it helps!
I have had my Mac Book for several years and I am just learning how I CAN EDIT One of the best features of my Mac is this editing program. I like how thorough you have shown the features here Can you explain in the crop section about the ratios What do they mean?
Eg choose 16:9 and it will fill the Mac screen and good for landscapes etc.
My 'Photos" doesn't have 'devices' linked at the bottom. I don't know why. The icloud does not update the photos available quickly either... still figuring out all this stuff.
I liked this video but I wish you had shown how to crop the top or bottom of a phot.
Honestly Photos is a great application for photo review and quick edits! I honestly prefer it to Lightroom
So it's just a built in photos app, correct?
Is it possible to change a color to match the exact color of something else in the photo?
Colour dropper
Great tutorial! Thank you so much!
