Wonderful performance, but I believe the timpani should be in the front center of the orchestra to be louder, this is a timpani symphony. The orchestra tend to deafen the timpani when not playing solos . But anyhow it's awesome and a good representation of Mr. Daugherty's work who is an outstanding composer of our era. Bravo
Too bad Frank Krager did not perform this at Michigan. There were a lot of Charlie Owen's students who never got to star on stage except the cymbalists!
I dont really know if this is sarcasm so im sorry if it is, but if this isnt sarcastic, its a concerto for timpani, he is quite littleraly supposed to steal the show, its to showcase him.
Only decent? My God this is outstanding,.I listen the performances of other orchestras and the timpani sound the same, therefore is what Mr Daugherty' composed... you are wrong.
The musical work of Michael Kevin Daugherty is there, if you like it or not, nobody cares. It´s good there is variety of styles for one to enjoy the work and effort of others.
".....But Mr. Daugherty's work isn't that great....." You're right in that it's not that deep - it sounds like good but not great movie music. As is the custom in pop music, he gets a decent idea and then beats it to death. But music doesn't need to be great to be good and be worth listening to.
Nice job, Arlo!
I like the piece, Mr. Daugherty. And Arlo...You've got juice!
Best rendition of this piece by far, gg man!
straight fire
Bravo! Encore
Dem DRUMS!! EPIC!
❤
Am I the only one that thinks this would be good in PIXARS Up sequel if they make one and Michael Giacchino uses it as Up 2 With End Credits

The Timpanist literally stole the show! He should be at the back.

@@robertmorales8432 yep. you fell for it. sorry
Quite a decent performance. I applaud the tympanist. But Mr Daugherty's work isn't that great.
