Kate Mulgrew is an incredibly strong actor. What she went through in her life, toughing it all up, and giving us amazing performances, one right after another. I would give that woman a standing ovation.
Kate you are awesome person I love I think that voice is so beautiful I love listening to you and story's about star trek Voyager is my favorite because you are the first woman captain and makes me proud to see a woman finally I was tired of seeing men don't get me wrong I love them but I'm so thankful finally a woman as Captain God bless you Kate love you
"Kate Mulgrew - I know her as an actress who has created her...aaumm never having met her which I think is only...to my advantage....but I think that...have...fallen in love with her in a way that was very...unexpected and has been....wonderful...." Transcript changed subtly to my advantage, in respect of Kate Mulgrew; an amazing actress and personality x
I loved Kate as Captain Janeway in Voyager...that was a great show and she was great in it! I live in Cleveland too...would love to bump into her someday!
Kate is as down to earth and quite possible the most .....educated and well rounded actress to come out of hollywood...and of course she dosen't live in the town..
You cannot typecast this lady even as we all love her from Voyager. It's my humble opinion that she should do a Voyager movie or three as well as a film playing the life story of Hepburn. She could do it all so well and with films, she get higher pay and much more time off!
Love that you poted this! I really like that the interveiwer was so cool about the whole thing and didnt only talk about the play! yeah! this is to my knowlage the first time that she ever mentioned/acknowleged her daughter! which i would LOVE to find out her name! but that was cool she got her to open up!! sounds like a bad time but at least she had something to temporaily tak her mind off it!
I'm was born in the eighties and I don't get why people are posting these blogs. She is beautiful. She has a unique voice, it's true, but people should also listen to what she's saying. She's a person going through troubled times. Are these blogs really representative of how people relate to other people? Are we that detached from one another? Listen to what is being said in the video.
I;m starting to watch all the Start Trek Voyager Episodes. SHE ROCKS!!! Also, I think she made a little "noise" at 0:30 , and you can see it in her face immediately after, and you can see her uncomfortableness for the next few seconds. I don't care, but I love finding little things like that. GO KATE!
it's rare to find great actors who carry themselves with such grace and poise, even in times of extreme heartache. She lost both her parents and her husband got a heartattack, and she still maintains her poise. She puts all other bullshit wannabe mainstream actors who check themselves into rehab if a strong wind blows, to shame. More power to ya Kate Mulgrew!
Spikezx7 an absolute trooper you should read her memoir Born With Teeth you will see that from the very beginning of her life she has overcome many tragedies with incredible strength and fortitude a truly inspirational woman
@mrzombiepants: I think she looks so pretty and elegant. She might be overwhelmed by the heat in Arizona. I thought the interviewer was irritating but Kate being a classy lady handled it very well.
"I'm married to the most decent man I've ever met... He's a politician." Scurrrrrttt! (brakes) Never thought those two phrases could ever be heard in such close proximity. 😆 3:43
Oh yes - she was a smoker (sorry - didn't mean to imply that she wasn't). There are a number of interviews around where it's mentioned that used to smoke. I think she gave up early in Voyager for health reasons.
Is it just me or can anyone else see somewhat of a resemblance or even the slightest bit of similarity between Mulgrew and 1960's British actress Diana Rigg? For me, what strikes me as being similar between the two wonderful actresses are that they have and project an aura of confidence... strong in character, yet distinctively feminine... Also, one looks like 10-15 years older than the other (Rigg in 1966 compared to Mulgrew in 1995). Facial expressions and body language too.
Yea you're right, though I think she did smoke because I believe that for the episode of voyager called "Scientific Method" Mulgrew quit smoking to help her portray the irritability from the experiments the aliens conducted on her.
actually, I don't think she's a snot or even a dreadful interviewer. She was concerned about Kate being dehydrated as she's not used to 98 degree weather. She offered her water to keep hydrated. Also, I don't know if Kate smokes again, but she does flex her fingers when she's thinking of having one. Watch the first 5 years of Voyager, she does it often.
i think -but im not sure-that she is talking about what i think is a step daughter. her website talks about tims daughter marie being in third grade at the time of the bio
Jeez. The host is awful and fake to be honest, of course, I am sorry about her mother. Kate Mulgrew honest, genuine, intelligent. We love you Kate! Keep up the great work! We miss Voyager!
I really don't think the host is being a "rude bitch", people. No reporter would intentionally alienate a guest unless the guest was someone they thought the audience shouldn't "side with". I think it's a lack of experience with interviews, and nerves, and some people just can't always put their words right the first time, which *can* lead to some really horribly awkward, facepalm inducing moments.
This interviewer is horrible. It's like she did absolutely no research before the interview. Just pathetic. Kate Mulgrew is a class act. She could have easily told this girl off. She wasn't even listening as Kate was talking. I felt awful the way she said "my sister and I lost our mom too" when Kate didn't say her mom died but rather she had Alzheimer's. This interviewer should be fired.
@eviltreemonster lol, random? XD But I agree! ...I'm trying to convey my feelings about Seven of Nine without sounding dirty, but I fail... So yeah, I'll just stick with "I agree!"
Kate Mulgrew is an incredibly strong actor. What she went through in her life, toughing it all up, and giving us amazing performances, one right after another.
I would give that woman a standing ovation.
Sonicgott absolutely
I could listen and watch her speak all day. She's so elegant with her words and gestures. And her voice is so unique I just love all of her.
wow, Kate Mulgrew is probably one of the most eloquent and well spoken people I've heard.
Kate Mulgrew is a Proper Actress and i think Very Underated.
I would love to serve under Kate Mulgrew command in star trek
Kate is an awesome person ---- and capt Janeway character is agreat role model for girls!!!
This world is just better with Kate Mulgrew in it.

God her voice is awesome
I loved Kate as Captain Janeway in Voyager...that was a great show and she was great in it! I live in Cleveland too...would love to bump into her someday!
Poor Kate, but as always she radiates elegance despite pain.
That interviewer really was smitten too...
It stuns me how they acted naturally on the Show... Star Trek show are so Underrated. :D
she is STUNNING! thank you for posting.
Kate is as down to earth and quite possible the most .....educated and well rounded actress to come out of hollywood...and of course she dosen't live in the town..

You obviously haven't seen her since this 2004 interview.
@ensignjoe: She stopped smoking years ago. She stopped smoking at the start of the 4th season of Voyager.
OMG, it really is Red Claw
Her voice has always been deep - even back in Ryan's Hope it was deep, so it's not all related to smoking cigarettes (if at all).
Love that you poted this! She had a child out of wedlock during Ryan's Hope (1977 i think) and the child was adopted. They were reunited around 2000.

yellowhue30 exactly
4:57 her eyes speak volumes. I love the emotion of Kate. It is so real.
OMG! I love her!
heehee That interviewer is so smitten with her. It's so cute! She's in a little fangirl paradise.
@miridove The internet needs more like you
That lady is pissed off at the start. She is human. It takes 6 honest words to get past the bullshit.

Spikezx7 totally agree
I love that woman, she looks 10-20 times smarter than Janeway
@mrzombiepants: I think she looks so pretty and elegant. She might be overwhelmed by the heat in Arizona.
I thought the interviewer was irritating but Kate being a classy lady handled it very well.
I agree.

It seems like the more intellectual stars reside in New York.
I won't attack the host...but Mrs. Mulgrew really does handle her well.

TheRedlum Kate gave smoking up by season 4 of Voyager
TheRedlum maybe she had a relapse due to the stress of losing both her parents and her husband having a heart attack
i think -but im not sure-that she is talking about what i think is a step daughter. her website talks about tims daughter marie being in third grade at the time of the bio
yall know they are playing ryans hope on soapnet with kate
Her voice sounds strained from doing the Hepburn play.
she should of been in at aviator
Voyager and Deep Space Nine, when I was growing up I never watched them. They looked boring. Loved TNG and all other Star Trek.
She just get's more gorgeous with age doesn't she?
crueljones absolutely just like the original Hollywood greats Liz Taylor, Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Lauren Bacall, et.al
@kathryn5202328 I don't know if it's the blonde she has it as, lately, but it's definitely not naturally the deep red/brown.
miridove she’s a brunette naturally but dyed it red early in her career to get roles
@eviltreemonster Exactly!

She's turned into 7 of 9.
Tap what? Kate or the interviewer? lol
I love Kate, but seriously, what is going on with her hair???? It looks like she just got out of bed!
