  • Gear Review | I travel a fair bit on my motorcycles and use a variety of luggage to do so. This is my first large tailbag that doubles as a carrying bag. - Frank

That bag looks huge. Seems perfect for a fly and buy trip. Look forward to seeing which bike you ride back this year.

Hello Matt, Its huge indeed! I am going to look for a BMW R1200RT. I test road several this fall in New York, but they were either damaged from being left out in the winter, or the owners wanted to get back 80% of what they paid. I am a deal hunter, so they were a no go. If I cannot find what I want, I will grab something interesting to try and sell it when I get back east. - Frank

Personally, I try to forget that I have a lot of baggage. Good that you can bring it out in the open and discuss it with your friends.

Hello, Rob - I have so much baggage, I keep having to ask people for bags to store it. - Frank

FRANK !!! - Another awesome review. Reading the comments below - "not being waterproof" seems to create a lot of heartburn. Personally, I think it is a great looking bag - with lots of features... Especially the Back Pack straps - that easily store away. I would certainly consider one, if / when the need arises... That said, I live in Arizona - and we've barely had 2 days of rain down here in the last 6 months !!!! It would be fine here...
    Cheers Amigo !!!!

Hello Obi-Wan, I very much prefer waterproof. If I take this on a trio, I will pup an Amazon dry bag inside! - Frank

Good commentary. Yeah, the lack of waterproofness definitely hinders that design. But it looks cool and that's what counts. :)

Hello, Jason - With the amount of rain we got this weekend, boy does the waterproofing count! - Frank

Non waterproof makes it a car travel bag… Hard to beat the inexpensive Amazon tarpaulin 40L duffel/dry bag…

Nice bag. looks too big for a carry-on?

Hey, Tracey - I had to use a bigger bag than this for my Fly and Buy for the vstrom in Portland, but yes, it's a pretty big bag - but it should fit up there. - Frank

Pretty spendy for not being waterproof.. for less or the same price the tusk tail bag is 100% waterproof

Hello Gabriel, Nelson Rigg and others have waterproof bags for sure. This is made more for carrying gear on the bike and then taking it off with you.
I do prefer waterproof myself as a rule. - Frank

Not waterproof is a big downside, plus that opening looks too small to get stuff in and out. When it is expanded does the thing that goes on the outside still fit?

Hi, Mike - I was able to get my helmet in through the top, so it's okay sized. And yes, the waterproof bag fits even when it's expanded. - Frank
