  • I've used the Woodland Mills HM 126 sawmill for 1 year and this is my honest review. Is it a good sawmill? Is it worth the money? Do I have any regrets? What would I change? I discuss all of this in this portable sawmill review video.

    On your water supply...maybe try putting a secondary water valve control for setting the flow of the water and use the existing shut off valve simply as a on off valve... at least that is what I'm planning to do with my harbor freight sawmill...good review by the way...cheers

      That's a great idea. That would make it possible to be able to make adjustments while I'm running the saw as well instead of stopping, walking to the front, adjust, walk back, test, so on and so forth. Thanks Grizz270!

    I bought a 22" Woodland. Milling northern calif black walnut from our yard/ I lost 2 blades right away because my definition of "snug" is not theirs. So I use a clicker torque wrench. Manual says to take off the tension on the blade after use which I only recently noticed. I assembled it myself and it took about 20hours.

    • @MacJackal
      @MacJackal  5 месяцев назад +1

      I can relate. I didn't really enjoy running my saw until I worked out all the bugs. It was frustrating going out and having trouble with different things while I spent most of my time troubleshooting. But once I learned the hard way, it's been a ton of fun. Enjoy your mill!

    I don't think this sawmill is the one for me. As I don't have any logs to cut up. But, solid and thorough review nonetheless. If I ever need one someday I'll certainly consider it.

    • @MacJackal

      Well although you are currently log-less, one day you might be graced with an abundance of logs and I'm glad I could give some things to consider if that day comes and you decide you would like to put on your sawyers hat and become a sawmill owner. ;)

    How long can a fresh, live cut, tree be down b4 putting it on the mill? I have a dozen hickory that need taken down but I don't have time to mill them yet.

    • @MacJackal
      @MacJackal  Год назад +1

      It seems like the bugs like to get to hickory if you let them lay for too long but the log itself can last a long time if you keep it blocked up off the ground, although Hickory will start to decay the longer it sits, and it can become a bit harder to cut. The sooner the better of course, but I cut stuff that's been laying around for years. I guess it depends on how much rot, bugs, or staining in the wood is acceptable to your application. A dozen Hickory trees will make a lot of beautiful wood!

    I talked to woodland mills and they told me to never use a torque wrench just use the hand tightening method for the blade tension.
