When I picture a great skin scent, I picture the scent you get when someone who smells really good is standing in a doorway, and the wind comes in around them and they smell…divine.

You turned me on to Dossier a long time ago - thank you! I don’t know if you mentioned in this video but one of my favorite things about Dossier is that they are cruelty free. I buy from them for 2 main reasons: the price and that they are cruelty free. If either of these were to change I would have to reconsider them as a brand. My favorite right now is the Ambery Cherry (dupe for TF Lost Cherry). I get complements every time I wear it.

YES! Them being cruelty free is one of my biggest pluses with them. A lot more companies are becoming cruelty free but it's still somewhat limited int the perfume world since so many come from the major fashion houses and they all sell in China. The dupes are such a great way to enjoy the real thing without the guilt AND you save a big of dough. BIG fan of that!

And when you return a scent, they gift it to those less fortunate!

You brought up the simplicity of the packaging for Dossier. Personally, I enjoy a bit of simplicity. I have one perfume that has a unique and attractive shaped bottle, but it is VERY awkward to hold and direct the spray. Sometimes, less is more, even in packaging. I love perfumes that cling to my clothes. I figure if I can still smell it on my sleeve the next day, then people were able to smell it in a subtle way on the first day, even if I can no longer smell myself.

Oh I love spraying things like my jackets or dresses that don't get washed after each wearing lol. When I put them back on its like a pleasant little surprise to get a whiff of something yummy!

Personally, once I found Skin Musk I haven't been to turn back to anything else. It's just so elegant, soft, and clean. I use both their oil and spray cologne and I am constantly smelling my wrists 😂 it's just so intoxicating and comforting.
Plus for the coin it's a great bargain and my signature scent now.

Lol....about to make a purchase from Dossier, but wanted to see a few reviews. What's funny, is the first time I smelled it I said it was like someone walked by me in a clean, freshly pressed white shirt drinking a martini (shaken, not stirred)...

Maybe for a bedtime scent it would be great, because Juliette stays on my clothes for literally days. I barely have to spray, It's very pleasant at that. So when I want to preserve this will be a nice alternative.

Great idea!! This would be a more affordable option for a bedtime scent of this one for sure!

Hey Melanie! I am enjoying your personal fragrance reviews, and looking forward to seeing what’s coming next. I decided to try Dossier last year when I saw that they had a dupe of Gucci Guilty for Men. I have a small 0.5 oz sample of the Guilty cologne and when I got the Dossier version it is basically the same. I have been wanting to get a larger size of Gucci Guilty but it was a little hard to justify the ~ $80, so I’m happy to have found basically the same fragrance for a much better price. I am definitely interested in trying more from Dossier after my initial experience. Do you think “Musky Musk” is something a man could wear?

    • @MrKongsMom
      @MrKongsMom  Год назад

I do! I will say, it does have a touch of sweetness but I think it could go unisex for sure. It would also be a great thing to mix with your other fragrances! It may change the composition of them slightly and almost give you a "new" scent without going out and buying another one.

would this be one you spray on your cloths or on your skin? sorry if this seems obvious, Im just entering into my 'smell good' phase and would like to make sure I use it correctly. I just purchased it and smell nothing, and Id really like to love this.

Personally with scents like this, "skin" type scents I do both, clothing and body. It does help others be able to notice the scent a bit more. Also, moisturizer your skin first with an unscented lotion. It will help the fragrance stick to your skin a bit better.

Your video saved my 1.7oz Musky Musk purchase from being an exchange Dossier purchase. I'm one to gravitate toward fragrance families of amber, woods, aquatic, fresh, and citrus but my expectations COMPLETELY overpowered my in-person experience upon arrival via snail mail.
So I DID NOT like Musky Musk at first, which crushed me b/c Amber Myrrh from B&BW from circa ~1999 is my all-time #2 favorite artificial scent (behind Clinique Happy). I was so disappointed when all I smelled was NOTHING, w a heaping side of rubbing alcohol. So I tested around my neck and inner elbow, my usual spray-sites.... Still, NOTHING.
I've had my bottle staged nice 'n neat, back in her box, ready to return ship.... UNTIL YOUR VIDEO INSPIRED ME to reapply and WAIT for it to MELLOW and "warm up" to my natural skin scent, which is a heavy-warm-ginger-smelling "body odor"
I really don't want to deal w the whole hassle of exchanging/communicating w the Amazon Seller, etc.
Tx for your time and intellectual content.
Btw girl, I totally respect the diction in your words i.e., "..Musks; plural--musks..." when you sites the notes.
    🤙💅🤓😎🤠
    Great work, stay safe

Totally here for upping the perfume reviews! Absolutely love them.
I’m sure I’d like this one as I generally like musks. My first was White Musk from The Body Shop, back in the day. Then Skin Musk by Coty about 25 years ago. I still have a bottle of it because it’s so damn cute. SJP wore it and got compliments often so I had to try it after seeing her on David Letterman and he LOVED it! 😂 He often liked what fragrances women wore on his show and I loved that about him.

Oh gosh I remember white musk from the Body Shop as well! Man, that was a great scent for sure! Musk scents have always worked really well with my body chemistry.

Funny, I’ve actually been using one of my (many) samples of not a perfume last week. I’ve been enjoying it…not sure enough to by the Juliette version so the dossier version may be a a nice option down the road. 🙂

For sure go for the Dossier version. I have tried both on my skin now (the real thing from the tester in Sephora) and the end result on my skin is exactly the same.

The chemistry with SKIN fragrances 🤣 is so real! I LOVE Bacarat Rouge 540 fragrance on others! I purchased the Dossier dupe and loved it in the bottle. However, it is awful on my skin! My hubby says it smells like the antiseptic dip for dairy cattle on me! 😤 NOT the effect I was going for! And it was too late to return (that will teach me to not try it on my skin right away because it smelled so nice in the bottle). So I am going to try and sell it on Marketplace. If nothing else, it was not an expensive mistake! Now the Floral Marshmallow scent smells so beautiful and has great staying power! Thanks for recommending the Dossier brand! Smiles, Abby Smith

Haha! Antiseptic drop for cattle lol! Bless his heart for that description. VERY descriptive indeed. Well, yeah, for some people the chemistry isn't there. Sorry you are one of them lol. But I am glad you are able to find some scents that do work well for you!

Look up Jewel Bella Sweet Shop candles. There all gormand and so cute. I just stumbled across them so I haven't tried them yet but I'm placing an order today and thought of you cuz you like all Gormand candles too. 😊

I'm sorry I'm writing this on a totally different review but I just read all the candle reviews on Etsy, I'm buying them directly from her shop. The reviews are outstanding. I mean they have raspberry glazed donut, confetti cake, cotton candy, snickerdoodle etc. 🤣

Ambergris is actually whale vomit not poop.

It is almost exclusively eliminated from their bodies with their excrement. Here’s a great article on the topic. There is no evidence they vomit ambergris. www.mcgill.ca/oss/article/general-science/do-some-perfumes-actually-contain-whale-excrement
