I just acquired a white, '83 Musician 3 days ago and LOVE THIS BASS! Your video is one of the reasons is one of the reasons I bought it. I wanted one back in the 80s as well but had to settle for a RoadStar instead; just wasn't the same. I got this one for only 630.00 from a guy in Japan; huge bargain compared to all the others I see around 1400.00. Now I need the fretless version!

Hey Harley, that's so awesome and I appreciate you watching! Sounds like we share a similar history with the Musician bass-you got a really great deal on yours. I'm looking for a fretless one too, good luck on your search!🤘🏼🤘🏼

@@DavePorterBand I'll probably buy a fretted one soon; my cousin is a luthier here in Phoenix and teaches at Roberto-Venn. He's built me 4 custom basses and 2 are fretless; he could do a great job on the conversion. We'll see what I find!!

Ibanez should bring those basses back , it's a classic design, i always wanted a fretless version.
I just can't get into their modern thinner basses for sale today.

I agree! The newer basses sound great but the older Musician and Roadster series are built like tanks and sound incredible. Thanks for watching!

Had a '82 fretless. My precious for over 40y. Lovely to play with the thin neck and the active electronics. Best sound for me with 2/3 bridge pickup and 1/3 neck pickup. For many years I played with roundwounds, which gave some marks at the end. Later on flatwounds suited me better.
One thing I did not like: the dead spot at 6th 'fret' on the G-string. Pretty severe. With a few ounces of lead screwed at the rear of the head improved it a bit, but stayed too much.
    Now I have a SRF705. I''m in love again.

@@DavePorterBand Had my eye out for a black one for a while, and one finally came up on Reverb and I grabbed it. Had to give it a little TLC, but it now plays and sounds great.
