    “Garage Hobbyist” if you want to really help novices you could recommend some ideal settings for successful welds on say 1/16”, 1/8” and 3/16” steel angle or tube, with a specified wire thickness. That would start people off with more success than trial and error settings.

    Just snagged mine on Amazon for 78$ should be here tomorrow, can’t wait to mess with it

    Mine didn't even last a month. Started getting error messages on the display and the OC light would come on. Finally, the power switch got stuck in the on position and I had to unplug it to turn it off. Thankfully, I was within the Amazon return window.

      Sorry to hear that. Mine is still going strong 2 years later.

    Thanks for the update. Ive had the same machine for a few months and im happy with it. I didn't know how to weld before buying this machine and I've learned a lot.
    I wish it had a settings recommendation chart and better instructions but other then that, its a great learning machine.

      I knew I forgot something! That was one of my complaints in the first video. It is a real work horse though, just used it to fix my lawnmower deck a little earlier today!

    That silver gas shroud isn’t needed since there is no gas, BUT it will stop the contact tip touching the work (good!) AND make it harder to see the weld puddle (bad!). I would suggest keeping it on, but shorten it until it only just protects the copper contact tip from accidental touching on the work. Pro’s of course won’t need any protection for their tips (that sounded better than it came out).

    Thanks for the video. It is either a fool or a brave man who shows his welds on camera! I almost exclusively stick weld, do you have anything more to say about this little guy in stick mode? Seems handy to have.

      It works well as long as you know how. I’m not the best at stick welding, but I can get passable results with it!

    I can't seem to find that model. The Amazon link sends you to the 250 model and the 140 is not listed on the Ssimder site. They have a 120 and a SD4050 mini that seem similar.

    Could i hook up longer leads instead of the 4' factory leads?

    • @GarageHobbyist
      @GarageHobbyist  Год назад +1

      The ground wouldn't be an issue. With it being a flux core machine, the torch lead isn't meant to be easily removable

  • @allanhuggies5066
    @allanhuggies5066 Год назад

    As it is flux core should the positive lead be on ground feed for best results as in a gas/gas less mig? , thanks for the vids and this update ; as I’m looking to get a flux core welder and been looking at a few you tube vids, thanks again

    • @GarageHobbyist
      @GarageHobbyist  Год назад

      Typically yes, and most of the flux only machines you can't change the polarity of the wire fed lead.

    What brand of wire do you run with this? Same brand as the welder?

    • @GarageHobbyist
      @GarageHobbyist  9 месяцев назад

      I’ve ran Forney, Vulcan, Simder, and Arc Captain. My favorite is the Arc Captain wire

    Anyone have an issue with the machine feeding the wire. I set it up, pulled the trigger, and nothing. the wire doesn't move, no arc, NOthing. I have contacted the company, but in the meantime, any suggestions?

      That’s strange. I haven’t had any issues with mine. Did they respond yet?
