Goes to show even the best gymnasts have times when they just don't nail their tumbling skills. They under rotate, over rotate, don't get enough height, etc. If anything, this proves how hard gymnastics is (as if we had any doubts).

That straddled double back though... definitely worth a 2nd look. Also fun to be reminded of Produnova's ill-fated triple full. An entire montage could be made of the many times she wiped out on that skill in 1999, and I always wondered why her team thought it was a good idea - she should have never been made to do any backwards landing skills.
I think top 3 most heartbreaking ones happened in Sydney:
1. Karpenko's 1st pass in AA
2. Raducan's 3rd pass in EF
3. Zamo's 3rd pass in AA
Ug. I can’t help but think back to Elena Muhkina attempting the Thomas in practice , when she really didn’t feel up to it, and broke her neck & was instantly paralyzed from the neck down. Heartbreaking. RIP Elena , you really were one of the greatest!!!
Floor exercise fails are the wooorst to watch 😢😢😢😢

Not sure why you "feel bad" putting their names, but it really is helpful for marking the era and year of when these fails occurred. You don't need to have shame on naming the gymnasts. Please consider putting them.

that's a bad ass move. You don't see too many women attempting that move too often. That's something Elena Produnova would do.
