Test drive nyo muna both cars bago magsabi mas malakas luma.
2.8L turbo diesel makes almost 180hp against the hybrid's 150hp. The 200kg difference will probably be made up by the heavier tdi with more than twice the torque at 450n.m. There's huge chance the hybrid will be quicker off the line due to the electric engine but the tdi will catch-up and outrun if running far enough. The mileage is quite enviable, though, ngl.
Toyota's line-up includes the Hi-Ace, Innova, Rush and Avanza. The competitors have the Urvan, Staria, Stargazer, Xpander, etc. Now why would one buy this over one of the other models mentioned? Is it just for the option of having a hybrid vehicle?

The Innova should have stayed with the diesel engine , that is its advantage begining from the 1st gen model. Filipinos loved the Innova because of its versatility, multiple use and of course torque is what made it possible. From a family hauler, business purpose, taxi, police car, grab, lalamove, weekend rent a car, daily car, also for a lot of people its the closest thing they can get to a fortuner since its bigger than a regular MPV 'expander'. With the change of target market, i am not sure if it will still sell with the price range i can already get a base fortuner. Price range and purpose, id rather go for a hyundai custin, for 7 days a week and twice on sunday! head to head specs custin wins, a legit luxury family car. Being a hybrid does not win the match until you learn the cost of maintanance and resale value, who will buy a second hand car with a use up battery the cost 200k+.. all of toyota's advantage is lost on this model..

In fairness the car is very nice until you hear that it is gas powered. I was talking to a Toyota sales agent a week ago who told me that they are desperate to sell the zenix. It is not selling at all. They should have powered it with a diesel. The agent said that the biggest turn off for customers is the 2.0 gasoline engine. Then add the CVT engine + high price = loss for the car dealer due to the long turnover. if they can even sell what they have in their inventory.
That is not true in the dealership I asked at. We reserved a Zenix 6 months ago and we were sixth in line for the particular color we paid the 50k for. 50k isn’t chump change either why would they charge that much for reservation if they were desperate to sell it. In other colors, the line was twice as long. Until now in Dec 2023, we still don’t have it possibly because of shipping delays. Anyways, my point is your comment does not match up to my experience when we reserved our Zenix hybrid because there is clearly a demand for gas and hybrid Innovas.
If you live in the city go with the hybrid but if you live in the highlands go with the diesel. It all depends on your lifestyle and location.

How long is the waiting time for Zenix Hybrid? There is no point if you cannot get it.
You didn't mention the type of hybrid battery it's using. Yaris hybrid is using sealed Lithium-ion (Li-ion).
The battery is NiMH.
