Great episode, as a word bearers player it's pretty funny to sit down at a table with a player who has never played against WB's explain everything your list does, they go whatever WB's suck and then stack all the buffs on a Lorgar or a 20 man Dispoiler squad with an apothecary, 5 power axes and a power fist and Erebus and just run that squad straight through the center of their army, while 2 mhara gals are eating one flank and a 10 man Gal Vorbak squad is eating the other. They never know what hits them.
The best legion! ☺️ Going to listen to this one tonight in work. 12 hour shifts require myself to listen to a podcast, audiobook or something. Thanks again lads
If you go to the Warhammer Community post for the Dread torsos you can see more images in a carousel that show their heads are not monopose. Dark Brethren is pretty cheeky as it says "Under your control" so you can take a cheap allied WB detachment to give that buff to your main detachment of say World Eaters. The Tainted weapons are a bit of a cheek IMO with them costing more than a powerfist and other legions (such as Emperor's children) getting the same thing for no extra points. Warpfire Weapons are expensive but are great fun, I had great success with a squad of 10 blasters in ZM, the lack of STR is a slight problem against Dreadnoughts, going from 4s to 5s The boltspitters used to have blind on them last edition and from the leaks they did until late in the playtest in 2.0 so I am assuming they forgot to just remove them as without blind they are just bolters. Primarchs already have full Precision strikes and shots so your can snipe out whoever you want with Lorgar's Pistol. For the Mhara Gal, I hate the model too, and was planning on using the Khorne Blood Slaughterer as a proxy. Really good review guys, its a bit of a shame we didnt get to see Lee's "List" :)
Warpfire weapons also don't have Gets Hot! I ran Last of the Serrated Sun on the weekend 3 * 5 Gal Vorbak and 2 * 5 Warpfire TSS in pods. Was excellent.
Its important to remember LotSS as a RoW doesn't grant any kind of buff to Droppods. So combined with the Dreadclaws rules meaning you can't get out the turn you arrive means a unit of Gal Vorbak is not eligible to make a charge till Turn 4 at the earliest. Run Vorbak on foot, or in a assault tank. Use the RoW to free up Elite slots and give pods to other units
@@heresyhammer Normal drop pods have impact reactive doors, so you must disembark the turn they arrive. Dreadclaws dont. The Deepstrike rules say that units cannot move or run after coming down. Disembarking is a movement. So similar to the Leviathan tactica, a Dreadclaw is a terrible choice for an assaukt unit as they cannot get a charge of til turn 4 at the very earliest. If you really mess up your reserve rolls its possible they never get to charge.
I love the word Bearers in ADBs and Abnetts books. I like them in the early Hersey. I don't like them when they are _proper_ turned. I got a few units in late 1.0 (Erebus, gal vorbak), I _might_ do a small Calth force to use for ZM. Good for showing the game to friends as my primary army are Ultras...
Having just played against a unit of 9 Gal Vorbak with Argel Tal in it... Dear lord. That 3+ 5+ 5+ save is no joke. The only thing that removed any of them was my Telemon punching them with its S10 fist and instant deathing them.
When going traitor, at least be the original traitor. Like your content, but can you please do more timestamps? I mean this episode was going for fourty minutes until you hit the topic 😅
You sort of skipped over that the Warpfire plasma weapons all lose Gets Hot, which is super, and RAW you can upgrade the Blade Slaves weapons as they aren't Unique. It's also worth noting that ADATP ends a different times depending on if you pass or fail - it's end of phase if you pass but start of your next turn if you fail, meaning failing means it's there longer. Regarding buffing Lorgar with Dark Brethren, the Independent Characters and Ongoing Effects para on p.241 of the BRB would suggest that he gets the buff from the squad as long as he's with them, and by the same token he gives himself a 4+ FNP from the command squad. Zardu has an open question about whether he can take a command squad, as the Retinue rule seems to assume the Master of the Legion is solo but doesn't exclude it.
@@razalfraz6618 IMO it requires an FAQ entry. I don't think it is intended that Lorgar himself is excluded from the 4+++, but by current reading of the rules noted I think he does.
The biggest problem with the dreadnought torsos is that they unbalance the look of the model. You have all this detail and character on just the torso and it it puts more pressure on your painting to carry that theme out to the bare limbs. That's the impression I got when I looked at the painted examples on warhammer community.
They released heavy support infantry upgrades with mk6. It makes me think they have assault and breacher infantry stuff reserved for other armor marks that they are waiting on for fuck knows what reason. I can absolutely see a large outcry (again) if they did it all for mk6.
At least show us the 2200pt list lol. You did seem to gloss over that warpfire weapons lose Gets Hot too, which is kind of a big deal. There is some argument about Zardu, but RAW I believe you can give him a retinue on top of blade slaves.
Great episode! I'm ashamed to say I'd dismissed WB as being a bit shit, with no real evidence for that assumption! This episode has completely turned me around, seems like you could do some really cool stuff if you layer all the buffs properly. Now if we could just get those Daemon rules......

Love all you’re streams but on a personal note this is my legion. Look forward to you’re takes, on the greatest legion in heresy 🙂

What's stopping them getting out the turn they arrive?

A unit cannot disembark from a Transport that has arrived from Reserves in the same turn is something else to keep in mind.

Proper turned as in full on 40k/siege with all the trims.
I'm sure I brought some minis from medders once
The edit about Lee's list had me fudging dying 😂😂😂
There's lots of pressure to show his list as well! Maybe we will at some point!
Enjoyed this one. I have yet to watch your Salamanders vid.
Thanks dude!

That desription and run through of Kor Phaeron. Ha! 🤣👌
Haha! Love it!
If Rob does a tutorial I’ll consider salamanders. Including how not to make them look like hot rod cars though!
Haha! I'll get on it...at some point!
I've had a guy bump his Gal Vorbak up 3 times using The Dark Brethren. I had to use Horus to take them out.
Absolutely brutal!
@@heresyhammer Something Ive seen is a warmonger deep striking Gal Vorbak. They are fearless so they wont pin

36.50 Plastic turrets for ... what?
