I was so moved by The Cruel War and this song has done the same. As a Canadian living nearby to the place where this was written, it has had a place on my list at Christmas time for quite a while. I did not know that "Gitchi Manitou" was the term used by Amerindian peoples for the Holy Ghost. Very interesting stuff! Great singing and rendition, Jim.
Beautiful interpretation of a beautiful song I had never heard before. I especially like your deep voice, with the suprising polyphony, especially for the (more suprising) gloria at the end.. By the way, I aslo composed myself a gloria that you could listen to on youtube ; you might enjoy it ;-) I am also impressed by the way you succeed in making your folk guitar sound baroque.
