My favorite analysis of the Ravens, bears, and Steelers is “they always have a great defense” as if Ray Lewis reincarnates every year, or as if it’s still 1985
Just for reference in the last 10 years alone, Ravens defensive ranks were 1st, 3rd, 19th, 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 6th, 9th, 24th, and 6th. Outside of two years where injuries piled up it's a top ten defense more often than not. It's not so much that "Ray Lewis reincarnates every year". It's that the Ravens make a point of spending both Free Agency Cap Space and Draft Capital on maintaining a defensive presence because of the culture of the team and the city. Also the AFC North features 4 teams that all play outdoor in areas affected by cold weather, meaning defense will be paramount. Bears and Steelers are in similar situations.

I do think MacDonald is a massive loss for the Ravens and, honestly, part of me preferred that he would’ve taken over as HC after that debacle of a game plan on offense. That said, it’s completely foolish to think they’d have an Eagles-like regression on defense, the Ravens have Roquan Smith and Kyle Hamilton. Those players right there would tell me there wouldn’t be any crazy regression. Also, Humphrey had an injury-plagued year, which is unusual for him, I’m betting that wouldn’t happen in 2024. That means a lot of pressure on the young guys like Oweh and Ojabo (can he stay healthy?), I’m sure DeCosta will address Edge in the offseason though.
Funny the Eagles thought the same thing with their D-line as the core of that defense. Coordinators matter more than players, the Eagles and 49ers are prime examples of this. They both kept the core of their defenses yet both regressed without the same coordinators.

Hello they presenting facts. If Lamar couldn't get it done with the number one defense in the league what makes you believe n so confident he's going to get it done with the number 7 ranked defense? Your math doesn't math well
That's literally the point you're missing he couldn't get it done with the number one defense. Lamar average n chokes if the Ravens would have drafted Aaron Rodgers years ago they would have been to like at least five super bowls already. Aaron Rodgers only had a top 10 defense one time and during that one time he went n won a super bowl. The following season is defense was like 29th n he went 15-1 one n done in the playoffs. Made it to 4 other NFC championship games with D's in the mid to bottom of the league. So if everyone say Arod a choker what is Lamar?
If you know the 2024 Ravens team, you would be more concerned about replacing an aging offensive line then that they’ll need to replace a linebacker, corner and maybe a safety. Ravens need a healthy running back and o-line.
RB wasn't an issue, Justice Hill and Gus Edwards are more than capable and JK Dobbins is hurt every year. Keaton Mitchell will be back as well. Offensive line will need some attention, particularly at guard and right tackle, probably have to roll with Ronnie Stanley at least one more year (hopefully him staying healthy this year will continue). Edge is a major issue since we got so much mileage out of Van Noy and Clowney who will now likely go cash in elsewhere. Oweh is a dud as a pass rusher and Ojabo can't stay healthy.

No he did not. Roquan was the game changer. The commander of that defense. Mike helped but he is not the one with pads on. Kyle Hamilton also. It's eaay too look good when you already have talent.
@@tN_Disparity And anyone else? Hamilton is a 2 year
@@maskedman5657 of course. The entire defense is stacked. PQ fed off Roquan Smith and became worlds better after Roquan arrived. Brandon Stephen stepped up to after Marcus Peters left. Geno Stone, Marcus Williams. That defense is stacked with depth, now Trenton Simpson is next after PQ is gone.
Turtle neck looks like a neck brace on Shady 😂
Lmao. That was a good one 😂
🤣🤣
☠️☠️☠️
Shady has a neck ?
Shady be LOUD & WRONG
@@mhg_jscalezhahahaha … uu funny asf bro 🤡
Roquan Smith Kyle Hamilton and Justin Madibuike that core is all you need
Shady annoying asf
What did he say that was wrong? Patrick Queen is a 2 at best as a LB and the Ravens offense is going to be better next year. The Ravens still return a majority of their best players and are in prime position to resign Beeks.
Sometimes yes definitely but he was on the money this time Acho had some points also.
Let’s be real , Lamar is fun to watch but his style of play usually doesn’t get it done. I don’t think Lamar will ever win it all but will go down as the James harden of the NFL . A great player that never did much in the postseason for whatever reason. Once his new deal kicks in this team will struggle and Lamar will start to get pounded like cam did. I hope I’m wrong!
Playoffs too fast for lamar
He can't think that fast
Acho cooking again. Acting like it’s not going to hurt that he had the #1 defense is crazy, Shady.
He already had the #1 seed without the #1 defense. They will be fine, Ravens is defense period
You don’t have to have the number 1 defense to win a superbowl
For you to act like the ravens identity hasn’t been good, rough defense over the last 2 decades is just insane. The confidence you produce at being so uninformed and ignorant is hysterical though.
@@varlitoway3809 I never said you did, it still was their best shot. They didn’t have the number 1 defense before so we don’t what they would have looked like then. Now that they did, the best they could do was get to the AFC game and drop a stinker.
Number 1 defense usually never win the Super Bowl
Lamar is gonna have to beat a josh Allen, Joe burrow, possibly a healthy Aaron Rodgers and jets or Deshaun and the browns with Chubb before he plays mahomes and the ravens will have a lesser defense. Unlikely wins for Lamar unless he plays to his capabilities in the playoffs which we haven’t seen once
Yeah it's clear as crystal now man lamar ain't ever winnin no sb
*The Acho guy is annoying they should replace him asap*
I say this every video he has such a loser mentality
NO SHADY IS THE MOST ANNOYING!!!
They all terrible lmfao
They can’t wait for this to happen to Lamar so they could continue to bash him smh
Fire shady McCoy. Great player but trash nfl analyst
You are definitely taking a step back for sure. Ravens put up a generational defense statistically, triple crown which has never been done.
There is no way you are running that stat back. I think Macdonald is bringing the squad with him. There ain’t no way if you get your first coaching opportunity you are not trying to knock the cover off the ball
Nothing because I set it up, I make the game plans and in game adjustments, so nothing,
Lamar is not a drop back passer
He is a runner first
Then why didn’t he run the ball all those opportunities he had against KC? He was looking to pass 😂 no one can get open besides the Rookie who made Rookie mistakes
@@dokethakushite7400 thats my point all he had to do was run
He isn't a drop back passer
The fact Purdy took off and ran and played better then lamar is sad
I was going for him but never again
@@HouseOfMothspurdy can read the field.
Just say you don’t watch the ravens play the way y’all talk Lamar wouldn’t have had 67% completion percentage and would’ve throw more then 7 picks on the season
@@michaelnance8917 we rams gave yall odell and still could not toss him that pig skin
Fluke rb playing the qb position
He is a fraud just like Goff
Maybe you lean into your offense
Speak couldn’t have asked for anything better. They are going to milk this until the superbowl and are going to be mad they are going to have to take a break until after the superbowl is over.
One of these free agents are gonna resign. It just depends which one
It's a massive loss. Outside of dumb penalties the D did they're job in that loss to the chiefs.
No it's not, there are plenty of good coaches on the ravens Defensive staff that can replace him
@@Oceanz08 How you think he does with Seattle?
No idea, but I wish him the best. I think they probably need to upgrade at QB and move on from smith
doesnt matter who replaces him. lamar chokes in the playoffs he is a regular season player
Not a massive lost . Ravens defense changed because of Roquan Smith . Having a great middle linebacker is crucial.
I swear they only cover da ravens wen they lose 😂… bro bn talkin lamar everyday
Yes
Shady’s right on this one, but I think Lamar will definitely be better
