Guiding Light: Actors that have passed 2

- About 10 years ago I did the first Actors in Memoriam video. At that time I didn't have much footage from the 80's so there were a few notable actors left off that list. I was told over and over who I missed. Since then there were other actors that left us. Because of that I have made this addition to the first one. Lets look back at the talented actors that have passed away.

Love that line from Alan Spaulding, "Huff and puff all you want, you won't bring down my house. You don't even have enough breath to rattle the windows." Classic!
Guiding Light & As the World Turns were both classics!
I was raised watching Guiding Light with my mom I give you SO much admiration for doing such an excellent job putting this together
Thank you for the kind comment Dreamz! I truly appreciate it!
This is so sad to watch. So many wonderful actors/actresses to make Guiding Light as great as it was. 19 people. RIP to them all.💕
That's the Journey of life, we come and we must go
I agree with you, Ursula. We come, and we must go.
My Goodness Christopher Berneau (Alan Spaulding) was so Handsome! What a beautiful tribute to these great entertainers!
You can add Lisa Brown, Kathryn Hays, and Jerry ver Dorn to that list!!
Oh man, this hurts my heart. My grandmother and my mom watched this, so I grew up watching it. I felt like a life long friend had died when this show went off the air.
Now my grandmother and my mom are gone, watching these old scenes brings back so many memories and emotions.
That hits home for me too❤️
@@tracydull1369 Me three!!!!
I miss Guiding Light and As The World Turns. I watched both of them for many years
I was so sad when the canceled.
Yes, I feel the same.
I totally agree! Those shows were much more down to earth(generally) than the nonsense stories we have to put up with now!
Same here. Grew up watching both.
Same here.
The Guiding Light and As The World Turns was the greatest soaps...I wish they were still on tv. This brings back memories....🌹💋💔❤️
Yes, they were!
A round of applause for RUclips for putting this together. Those were some amazing actors. I remember watching Guiding Light as a little girl with my grandmother. This was beautifully done.🥰🥰❤❤
Nicole, I could not agree more. They were like my family and friends. This leaves my heart so saddened.
Me too! My gm was a fan of TGL as well as the rest of the CBS soaps. She died in 1979 @ age 77 when I was 13. I can still clearly hear her & her sister going on about those characters as if they were real life.
I grew up watching Guiding Light. Thank you for this update. While it’s sad to learn of the passing of some of the actors that I spent more time with than a few actual members of my family, it was good to be reminded of their talents and the characters they brought to life. They were wonderful.
Show should ended with a llimo pulling up with maureen baur and roger in it saying were home Zaslow had died i think but they could have used some tv trickery
My aunt watched this show until her passing in 2005.
Sad day when these fabulous shows passed away themselves !
My father used to love Guiding Light, Edge of Night and Search for tomorrow. When they first started some soaps were only 15 minutes in length and never longer than half of an hour. Many missing from this list.
He has others on the original video he posted 10 years ago.
We also watched As The World Turns and Secret Storm! Later, Dark Shadows.
Yep u nailed it!!!!!!!
Every single day i watched it and when it was cancelled,I was upset for years
Me too!
Marj Dunay is such a beautiful a classy lady may she rest in Peace
@Debra Meyers that's awesome
Dusay...not Dunay🤦
I miss the good old days 2 pm in the summers from the time I was about 13 to it went off the air . I. 48 now . Crazy how rime flys !! I remember the story line with Lew Jack
It's Lujack.
@@GeminiladyJackson-xq6hc yea
MAY THEY ALL REST IN PEACE!
What a walk down Memory Lane! Like many, I grew up spending many happy hours watching this with my beloved Mom. Thanks for this!
I watched GL from 1977-2001 so guess I’m biased to Don Stewart (Mike Bauer), Chris Bernau (Alan Spaulding) and Tom ORourke (Justin Marler). These where my favorite characters/actors. I wish there was more video available from these years.
Yes, they were!
Yes. Such great actors on this show. I miss it.
Thanks for the memories......"As the World Turn" and "The Guiding Light." Blessings!
These were the best actors and actresses i watch them as a kid
Oh my, this sure did bring back a lot of memories. So many wonderful actors and actresses gone. Still miss Guiding Light and As the World Turns. Thanks for posting.
I remember Larkin malloy from All my children, The edge of night..Real melodrama..GL
😢Skyler-(Guiding Light😢
🌹 Rest In Paradise 🌹
Phenomenal Unforgettable Actor
Me too, so sad he died so young.
He suffered a heart attack on his 62nd birthday and died 5 days later
He is unforgettable
What a great tribute to these wonderful actors and actresses from Guiding Light!!
I remember watching "The Guiding Light soap opera with my mother. I loved the show 2❤🍸!! It was Awesome!!
You know what killed the soaps ? The gay storyline with in just a couple of years of them starting that they ended up going off the air !!
Me.. as well.
Me, too. I grew up watching the soaps with my Mom. It was a special time back then!
I remember most of these, so sad they are gone.
Remember The Guiding Light I used to watch it with my mother 1977
I enjoyed the guiding light so much. The cast was so great. Alan Spaulding (both of them) were great, Victor Newman clan hve nothing on the Alan Spaulding clan, Alan was the more vicious than Victor Newman. I was sorry they took it off the air like wise as they with As the world turn also.
Loved this show
Thank you for taking us down memory lane. This was so tastefully and beautifully done. You should work for the Oscars memoriam.
Some great talent.
The soap actors of today don't even come close to the acting abilities of these actors.
Probably why there are so few soaps on television anymore.
I grew up watching this show with my mom. Lots of good memories. Love this show and the actors were all top notch. This video was well done and they all will be greatly missed. RIP.
I so miss those days,i got hooked watching this with my stepgramma, and I was a hardcore fan for life lol such great actors and actresses all in one show..awesome
Oh my. Alan Spaulding and Roger Thorp were the best. Ed Bauer, Michael Bauer. Too many to name. Great, great show. I watched it with my Grandma and Mother.
Lucille Wexler I really enjoyed this character
.I remember watching it after school
This is amazing. Thanks for doing this. So many talented actors gone way too soon. I loved Marj Dusay. Her scenes with Buzz Cooper were my favorite. Such a beautiful woman.
No one can beat the two classics of day time soap operas as the world's turns and the guilding light i grew up watching them in the 60s and 70s today the operas are not like it use to be clean now alot of sex it's a shame
Since this was posted we've lost Lisa Brown and Michael Tylo as well.
I didn't know Marj died .. 💔😢She was an actor's actor, a force on screen.
I remember I wish they never took it off I live for that show
WOW........
so this was real sad. I knew some of these great folks had passed, but others were a complete surprise - and some of the ages were so young in todays world. Brings back alot of fond memories. I'm grateful Mart Hulswit & Lenore Kasdorf are still with us and hopefully doing well. Almost All the great cast from the 1970s are gone. So grateful we had them !!! xo Billy Ralph Weeden
If you want to see heart and soul in acting this is were it was....I don't know how they did it... They had to be born to act its just to real like they're not acting.
Mindy Rick Phillip and Beth were teenagers when I was a teenager I watched with my mother until her death in 2007 I hate they took this off the air I muss this show everyday at 3p.m.
I assume that Caroline McWilliams who played Janet and also Melinda O. Fee who played Charlotte and Nanci Addison Altman who played Kit have been mentioned on this video too. All three of these actresses have passed away too and Charita Bauer who was Bert Bauer and Ed Bryce who was Bill Bauer and Theo Goetz who was Papa Bauer and there are countless others who played on Guiding Light who have passed away too. This is still a beautiful video. Guiding Light will always be in our hearts and minds and souls. I also have to mention Mary Stuart who played the beloved Joanne who played Meta who was the sister of Bert passed away too. Thank you again for making this beautiful video to also let us know that Guiding Light will never be forgotten either.
Since we are in rerun season CBS should run some Guiding Light and As the World Turns reruns. They were such great shows with great actors.
Great idea
Jerry Ver Dorn who played Ross Marler has passed away too. I assume that he has been mentioned in this video too.
I was younger when this aired but I remember it.. My mom watched it faithfully ❤️
I used to watch it with my grandma, she love this show. She would always watch her soaps and then she would turn the TV off.
They missed the man who had ALS.
Alvinia Jenkins Michael Zaslow, how do you forget Roger Thorpe?
They showed him in part 1
@@sherrygaudette4983. I will alway remember Michael Zaslow as Roger Thorpe. He was a great actor that died way too young!
We watched guiding light it was a good showlinda
I.love guildlight
Let's not forget Charita (Bert) Bauer and Michael (Roger Thorpe) Zaslow.
Those two were honored in the original video that was released before this one. Here is the link to that one: ruclips.net/video/fQdMrdwPiaY/видео.html
I take nothing away from Miriam Colon but I loved Gloria Irizarry as Maria. She had a wisdom about her while Maria #2 was an instigator. Jim Lemay was such a good man but he had to accept the fact that although he as a good man, he wasn't Phillip for Beth.
Wonderful Actors and Actresses ! Rest and Peace! Gone too soon!
I remember this Soap opera..Nola Reardon and her big Family of siblings..Reva Shayne who Married every Male member of The Lewis Family (a Texas Rich oil Family)
Weren't the Lewis's from Oklahoma?
Lives the Reardons. I hated Reva and her family. I wanted her and Josh to leave and never come back
@@Nissybella yes
@@Nissybella Yep!!!!!
It's so sad to see so many of actors and actresses of my all time favorite soap opera have passed away. Enjoyed watching them all
I wonder if any of the old-time soaps are still on.....like, The Guiding Light....Search for Tomorrow....and As the World Turns?
@@jaf8771 No they aren't. I have found both Guiding Light and As The World Turns on RUclips, so if your as big a fan as me, you can watch reruns too
@@angelahansard5121 Thanks. What fond memories. When I was in grade school (1960's) I was sick a lot due to an illness. All I remember is laying on the sofa and being ___forced___ to watch all those classic soaps on television because my mother was such a fan. I was so bored and uninterested!! Now that I'm an adult....I do so appreciate watching the reruns and I do remember most of the programs and actors who are now diseased....really sad. Before I got on RUclips, I purchased a DVD set from eBay containing several old soaps.....many of which I have not seen here on RUclips. My mother who is now gone...would have loved watching these vintage soaps.
There is always a certain amount of sadness when looking back.
ur cute.
Watch Guiding Light with my mom when i was a kid. I remember when Kevin Bacon was on the show. Loved Mikes singing voice.
Looking back I don't remember Reva being married to Kyle. But I'm old and watched GL from 1973 until the final episode. I cried when it ended 😢
Wish we knew cause of dearh
Wasn't James Rebhorn the smarmy Secretary of Defense in INDEPENDENCE DAY? I remember him well.
Marj got me balling like a baby I know there are back and forth between Beverlee & Marj but she made Alex her own also RIP
Any idea what Mark Dusay passed from anyway? Or Anthony Addabbo for that matter. 🤔
Any idea what Marj passed from anyway?
@@michaelodonnell9756 no I don't 😭
@@Harlee172 Just found out from an All My Children segment similar to this. Marj passed from natural causes. She was 83.
@@michaelodonnell9756 m? ?
My favorite Alan.
May They All RIP.
I'm so sad I didn't know so many had passed 😭
I miss these great actors who made Guiding Light the classic success it was for 72 years from 1937 to 2009. I assume that both Lisa Brown and Michael Tylo are in this Guiding Light tribute to its deceased actors too. Both of the late greats Michael Tylo and Lisa Brown played husband and wife Quint and Nola Chamberlain.
Thanks for the memories. RIP
It,s so sad too see this Guiding was my favorite soap I remember all of these amazing actor's
I really miss this show💔
Oh my I didnt know the actress that played Meredith died...how sad..💔💔breast cancer .
Alexandra Nooooo💔💔💔😭😭
Lisa Brown (Nola Reardon) Michael Tylo (Quentin Chamberlain) Are Now Gone As Well Rip.
So would see Alan went to Y&R and see him and victor at each other throats that be crazy
Love the Show and Actors
This was beautifu and sad to watch. Fine actors. I miss GL..
WHAT HAPPENED TO JORDAN CLARKE THE ACTOR FROM THE SOAP OPERA THE GUIDING LIGHT?
I always thought he and Harry Chapin looked somewhat alike
Miss everyone that passed away on g l
THEY NEED TO BRING BACK THIS SHOW!!!
Yes I agree we need the show back on
I knew them all,. Marj Dusay was my favourite,. Clips were way way way too long, could have wrapped this up in under 10 mins,🤔🤔
Thank you for watching this :)
Some of these actors that passed away were young, did they have AIDS
Weird seeing Benjamin Hendrickson playing someone other that Hal Munson. Never knew he was on Guiding Light. May he Rest In Peace.
🌹 Rest In Paradise 🌹
Chris Bernau and Beverlee McKinsey were guiding light
Alan Spaulding was hot !
U r referring to the first one I hope. When I was younger I didn't really notice but the older me definitely would agree with u. Btw, he was gay.
Just an FYI it was Patricia Barry, not Berry.
Lisa Brown has passed away in 2022.
3:22 died one week before the GL's concluded
actor Anthony died of "unknown causes". suicide?
kyle died on his 62nd birthday.
GL was my favorite soap. I cried when it got cancelled.
In the Allan Spaulding scenes he looks a little like Ted Bundy. 😅
I feel like I knew these people...now I’m sad.
Where is Roger Thorpe
Here is the link to that one: ruclips.net/video/fQdMrdwPiaY/видео.html
Benjamin Hendrickson is always Hal Munson to me!
I miss my GL fam 😭
Billy Hendrickson killed himself loved the Hal character on as the world turns
PATRICIA BARRY
Why no Jessica Leccia?
As far as I know she hasn't passed away therefore that is why she is not in this memorial video.
😪
9:04 Kevin Bacon
:'(
