Joe I just bought a uBITX 2nd hand. I have a lot of catching up with you all. Everyone on FB group recommends is recommending end-fed single wire antennas.
Very nice!! I am still trying to figure out the s-meter. I built it and tried it but just cant seem to get it to work right. I used a 1.5nf cap, and I have a 0.3nf coming in today. So I will try it again. Great info on the larger display and like how you have the other buttons on screen to access other options. As I told Ian, it would be nice to have a screen button to change from straight key to iambic key, and then be able to change cw speed without having to go thru all the steps you do now. I was going to use a LM386, which I had several from build a Pixie kit. But, after talking with Ian KD8CEC I ordered the LM358 chip as per his blog, I now have 8 of those chips. The only thing is I am not of an electronics guy and I sure would of liked to seen more photos of the resistors, diode and wires being soldered to the pins of the socket he was using. I looked at the schematic and I feel I got that right. But another thing was man it was hard to get these components soldered onto the pins of the socket. I am going to retrace my soldering and make sure it is right, again. I have to cut the heat shrink off so I can see the pins of the socket.
I built the lm386 but it did not work correctly - not enough ratio So, I built the LM358 version and it worked , lots of ratio... works fine even less components. Fortunately I had some in my parts stock... Joe VE1BWV
joe basque well I am glad it has worked for you. I have spent all evening after work with the .3nf cap and couldn't get it to work. I am going back to Ian's video and watch it again to see if I missed a step. I checked the socket and was getting 5 volts to pin 8. I had pin 3 to the yellow audio jack, and pin 2 to A7, don't know what I am doing wrong. I even changed out the 358 chip with another. Using bitx manager and reading from the uBitx for minimum I was get 0 then 1 and then 0 and even the same for max. I can't figure it out! Thanks for your replies.
Gentlemen.. Who made you gui for nextion.. Im working on project which is not related at all to yours but I have in mind to make same as your IFS setting(any coppy if possible? )
Hi Joe I love and hate the Nextion display, why I loved the simple LCD display and I love how the Nextion is so easy to use and gives you all sorts of new settings. Me personally I want to build a uBitx radio into a HF manpack radio. radio/tuner/swr I'm trying to figure out which display is best. Does the Nextion support an swr meter
I like both type of displays but the nextion is a smart display so takes no or very little resources from the arduino processor and has higher resolution for better graphics. Yes the nextion can support as swr function if someone adds the code.

Love your display setup. I’ll get there one day.

I like the dual display, and as more and more features appear, the extra display real estate is nice.
What chip do you use for the s-meter??

Is there a single write-up on setting up for a Nextion display? Mainly on the radio side? Connections, etc.
You can find the project at www.hamskey.com

You guys keep doing great work! Thank you. WA1KLI
Cool functions... but the colors...!!!
the waterfall display is real slow.
Display looks great but the quality of the rest of the build lets it down badly.
